1. Gremlin - PLEASE don't make us read them in order!
2. I haven't read all of her books but the only one I didn't like was
(and it is adult anyway so I don't know if it would count). Side note:
is totally a stand alone book but might be more enjoyable after reading

Nope! You don't need to read them in order! Our last challenge was quite tricky, so I wanted this one to be much more open and fluid for MAXIMUM CHALLENGE COMPLETION! :P
As to which Rainbow Rowell book? I've only read one, myself (Eleanor & Park) so even though I enjoyed it, I don't know if I'm best to answer that - anyone else have more feedback?
Yeah! We don't have to read them in order! I think I catch up on 2 series for this challenge...Here's my idea.

As far as Rainbow Rowell goes, I would say it will depend on your mood. Her adult book
if you are in the mood for something more serious but with a sort of oddball twist.
YA if you are in for something a little heavy. Worth the read.
YA/NA if you are in the mood for something cute and don't mind that there is fanfiction of a fiction in a fiction and that the fiction in the fiction reminds you of Harry Potter. (Now lets try saying that 3 times fast...) This was was one of those books for me that actually had me smiling at different parts. It really is cute. Levi...love him. Just sayin'.
I haven't read this one yet, but it is the fanfiction from the above book. If it were me...I'd read Fangirl and then this...but I am OCD about the order of things.
NA(?)/Adult Again one that if you are in the mood for cute and adorable...this will fit the bill.Hope this helps at all. :P
I'm in. No idea about what I'll read yet. I"m having issues with reading right now, so I'm hoping the "obligation" of a challenge will help get me back on track. And I LOVED Attachments, so I'd always recommend that one, but Eleanor & Park is really good, too.

"I'd count it. Definitely the predominant color and seems to be more than 50%. :)
Melanie wrote: "Yeah! We don't have to read them in order! I think I catch up on 2 series for this challenge..."Hi Melanie - I might be missing something, but I don't see any purple on the your cover choice for purple at all - I don't know if that will work.
Similarly, I feel like the one you listed as Black is really more brown (which can easily be fixed by using it as a brown choice).
Ginger-red wrote: "I've never done a challenge, so I'm going to give this a try! Im part way through reading Blue Lily, Lily Blue - can I count this if I finish reading it after the 1st of July?"Hi Ginger-red! Welcome to the challenge!! Sadly, you can't count Blue Lily, Lily Blue. Books have to be started and finished within the challenge months, I'm afraid. (And I totally feel your pain! We once opened up a "seasons" challenge as I was halfway through Winter's Bone - the anguish I felt! Haha).
On the upside, if you finish the rainbow colors, you could totally use The Raven King for Black in the continuation of the challenge (raven being synonymous with black). :)
Gremlin wrote: "Melanie wrote: "Yeah! We don't have to read them in order! I think I catch up on 2 series for this challenge..."Hi Melanie - I might be missing something, but I don't see any purple on the your c..."
The colors look different on my iPad, but it was easy to switch them to other choices, which I did (see above). I am trying to limit myself to books I already own, except for the Rainbow Rowell book (if I make it to the bonus round).
I am in - these are 100% from what I already own on kindle and have not read yet - I may switch it up thoughRed-

What a cool idea! I'm going to go back to my "To Read" list and try to cull a rainbow of books together! : )

READ A RAINBOW!!
You are challenged to read a book for each color of the rainbow!
Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue and Purple
There are two ways this can be achieved:
-Read books with covers that are predominantly one color of the rainbow
Or
-Read books with the color (word) as part of the title!
YOU ARE WELCOME TO MIX AND MATCH as you see fit!
(And the reading order is totally unimportant, btw).
If you’re reading a book for the cover color, the cover must be a minimum of 50% that one color. And yes, I’ll want you to post images of the cover in question.
If you’re reading a book for the title, you’re welcome to get a little flexible with the words used.
For instance, Gold/Lemon/Yellow are all acceptable for the color Yellow, and Crimson/Scarlet/Red are all acceptable words for the color red, as they are all shades of that same basic color. However Pink or Fuschia would not count as Red – so don’t try to stretch that too far! :P
Example of a completed challenge:
Red – Red Queen
Orange –
Yellow –
Green – The Emerald Talisman
Blue –
Purple – Violet & Claire
How it works:
♦ Most books should be YA, but you are allowed 2 non-YA for this challenge.
♦ Audio books and New Releases are allowed. Re-reads are also allowed!
♦ All of the books MUST be at least 150 (paper) pages in order to qualify for this challenge. If the kindle or eBook pages are different than the paper count, please provide the correct number, so no books are left out unjustly. If you are reading an ebook only book, the word count MUST be a minimum of 45,000.
Enjoying the challenge so much that you want to keep going? You can!
Branch out to colors that haven’t been covered yet! What about Pink? Brown? White? Chartreuse? Keep going as long as you can. Embrace the rainbow of options!!! Feel free to pull out your Crayola 64 pack for inspiration. See how far you can go!!!
Want even further challenge extra credit? You can do that too!
Super extra cool points to any readers that do the following after completing the initial challenge:
-Read a book by Rainbow Rowell!
-Read a book with all the colors of the rainbow on the cover
-Have fun rearranging your own books into a rainbow, take a picture and share it with us on this thread!
(See this website for inspiration: http://www.bustle.com/articles/26714-...)
I'll be keeping track of participant’s progress (as much as possible) in post #2. Participants will be listed alphabetically by their name and the number of their original post in the challenge.
When posting your progress, please remember to use the number attached to your original post as well (This will be especially useful to save me from mixing up folks with similar names).
