message 163: by Gwennie (last edited Aug 02, 2016 08:04AM) (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Question, I read

How To Date Dead Guys (Under the Blood Moon, #1) by Ann M. Noser and How to Ditch Dead Guys (Under the Blood Moon, #2) by Ann M. Noser .

I want to be fair, so before I figure out what books I'm using for the challenge, I wanted to know if they would be non-YA.

The main character is in college, which would be NA. But everything else about the plot and the content screams YA. (I would shelve as YA, lol.) I'm pretty sure NA counts as 'non-YA' selections, so I wanted the judge on this one, Grem. :)

BWAAHAHAHA! Clearly not a foolproof statement :P

We'll just use a different adjective to make that better. Luscious shade of brown? Deep shade of brown? Points for creativity! :D

Diane | 1234 comments I am having a hard time deciding if this counts as yellow or if it is brown. What is your verdict? The Rithmatist (Rithmatist, #1) by Brandon Sanderson It is like a golden color to me so I am hoping I can use it as yellow.

message 181: by Hillary (new)

Hillary (eledri) | 759 comments I have a hardcover copy, to me I would say its a goldish tan. Close enough for government work for yellow imo. But up to Grem.

message 182: by Diane (new)

Diane | 1234 comments After looking at color images I would say it is definitely a tint of yellow ocher so I will use it unless otherwise disputed by Grem.

Man! I've attempted to do my homework on this one and am coming up with bubkis! These books aren't listed at the Chicago Public Library system (and I normally use their shelving as my method for determining these things). Plus, I can't seem to get a listing at other general sources that I use.

So I think I'll have to fall back on my most base understanding of YA vs NA. New Adult technically falls into the "adult" realm, where as Young Adult would be found in the world of juvenile fiction.

You can still use them! But they definitely would fall into the non-YA category.

Gabriela I've finished two more books: The Sky Is Everywhere by Jandy Nelson for Blue and
The Color Purple by Alice Walker for Purple (non-YA). And updated post #6.

Small question, would either Loving Mr. Daniels by Brittainy C. Cherry or Landline by Rainbow Rowell work for Yellow? I have another safe option just in case, but I'd rather read one of these.
