Really it started before the challenge?? :O I started and finished it yesterday, which was 17th. Is it the time zone problem? Or did I mistake the time of the challenge?

I'm also planning on reading The Surgeon (Rizzoli & Isles, #1) by Tess Gerritsen (mystery) this week

prag ♻ (janayanation) @Kate, I'm not sure if I want to read the sequel. I liked the story the way it ended, I don't want Willem and Allyson to get together. Unless there's a really good story. Have you read Just One Year? Is it good?

Oh now i got it! Last month I started the Japanese version. Then I switched to Vietnamese version yesterday... So many complications.

If it's too troublesome, just discard it! :)

message 356: by Kazen (new)

Kazen Rose - I put The Surgeon on my library wish list a long time ago, but I can't remember who recommended it to me or (exactly) why! Hehe. I'm really curious to see what you think about it. :)

If you did the whole Vietnamese book since the start of Wobble go ahead and put it on your Wobble shelf so we can count it. :)

Since there seems to be confusion...

Each member needs to read a book for a Primary Task
A Primary Task is one of the 2 books required for both Hits & Misses to call square complete.

What this means is:

--- Each team member must read at least ONE book during Battleship (2 weeks event)
------ This is not 1 book per guess chances (4)
------ This is not 1 book per week
------ This IS ONE book, for any ONE Primary Task during Battleship
--- Team members may not COMPLETE a book for a Bonus spot, if they have not Completed a book for a Primary spot
------ Team members may START books for Bonus spots but may not get the points for those books until they have Completed their Primary spot.

message 363: by prag ♻ (new)

prag ♻ (janayanation) Oh, hope you feel better soon:)

I should probably be done with 2 books by the end of tomorrow, but I'm not sure if I should claim them as bonus points/ misses if I can or wait for the next round of guesses. Suggestions, guys? The books are A Court of Mist and Fury and The Night Circus.

message 364: by prag ♻ (new)

prag ♻ (janayanation) Okay, so ACOMAF can go for Paranormal (Bonus point, I9) and Author's name in top 100 australian names (B9), and The Night Circus can fit in paranormal (I9) and mystery (E5). Kazen- what would get us the most points?

In general the hit tasks get us the most points, so it's good to concentrate on them. If you finish your book after the task is complete we can use it towards bonus points, otherwise it would be a primary book for that task or a task in an upcoming round.

I'm just planning ahead a bit because I might not be online tomorrow as I have to go somewhere.

I hope it's a fun somewhere! :)

The edition you shelved has 471 pages, not 363. :/ Which is the one you read? You may need to change editions so that the numbers match.

A Message from your Friendly Neighborhood Captains

Hello everyone,

The action is heating up and books are being finished left and right! It's wonderful to see how many books you guys are gobbling up, and that some of them can be used for several categories (yea!).

As the mods pointed out in a previous post, each member needs to read a book for a primary task before any of their books can be used as bonus. In order to make this happen we may sometimes shift books from one category to another.

If you find that your name has been moved from primary to bonus on a task, or to a different task, fear not. The captains are just making sure that everyone gets a primary task book so we can read for as many points as possible over the next two weeks. Keep reading - we will be getting (at least!) 30 more tasks to use books for, so all books are sure to fit somewhere.

In previous challenges (like Gladiators) tasks disappeared when filled, but in Battleship we can fill hits with bonus books so it gives us a lot more leeway! We appreciate your understanding as we shift things around and assure you it's for the purpose of points. Glorious, delicious points. :)

Thanks and read on,
Kazen, Margaret, and Rose

I like the diagram and I was thinking maybe for B1 and A4, we could put a guess on the right side and beneath because it blocks those battleships in which would give us an accurate picture of where they are while saving a guess. And then we could take those 2 guesses and maybe put them either above I9 and to the left of I9 to get the same effect as B1 and A4, or put one of each in the bottom left section and the upper right section to try to see if we have any ships in those sections.

I don't know. I think I just made my coffee a little too strong today.

▲ Because of the nature of Olympic Games ABSOLUTELY NO unfinished books from during Battleship will be accepted. All books for Olympic Games must be STARTED on or after July 2nd (start date subject to change, start times equal that of Wobble event start ~ 11am London time)

This message will be repeated.
Olympic Games are scheduled to begin July 2nd.
