I actually didn't think it was that good! I started out thinking I was going to love it as it was all about reading and loving books that have been forgotten by everyone else, but the mystery kind of sizzled out and the story behind the cemetery of lost books was never revealed so it just felt like some regular bookshop. All the magic that was teased in the beginning just withered by the middle. Very disappointing *sigh*.

message 805: by Elspeth (new)

Elspeth | 101 comments I've started with And I Darken which is shelved as fantasy, young adult, historical, and romance. So far it is really good! Am hoping to finish in the *checks timer* 2 days and 11 hours we have left :)

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments I enjoyed And I Darken!

It's so good so far! How did you read it so quickly? It was just published yesterday :)

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments I had an ARC. haha. which reminds me i need to write the review now.

message 810: by Skandia (new)

Skandia (sfgirl) | 1724 comments Ohh, new fantasy series ! I need to TBR this. I know we have quite similar tastes in fantasy with Kathleen, so I'll probably end up liking it too!

Looking forward to your review, K.!

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments I gave it a 3.5 Skandia! I have no idea who Vlad the Impaler is so it might have contributed to why I enjoyed the book. Not my usual reads because well it's spoilery but suffice to say, it was intriguing! Send me a message if you want details hahaha! I might spill and ruin it for others.

but here's a peek... THIS IS A FORREALS SPOILER DO NOT CLICK.

Oh I see! I won't click on your spoiler because I am really engaged rn. I'm about halfway through despite just starting it today (which is quick for me)

message 813: by Skandia (new)

Skandia (sfgirl) | 1724 comments Yeah, I can't keep my fingers away from spoiler tags, ever :)

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments let's talk about it when you're down Elspeth!

Oh did you click on the spoiler Skandia? I'm like that too. I actively seek out spoilers! aha! I welcome them!

Nikki the Sapphired Book Dragon AKA NixieNut (sapphireddragon) | 1397 comments I am so totally the opposite LOL! I hate spoilers with a passion. I sometimes won't even read the synopsis before starting a book. :-p

message 816: by Skandia (new)

Skandia (sfgirl) | 1724 comments Of course I clicked the spoiler ! I just have to read the book and see if this would be weird for me too. Not a usual theme in fantasy and I guess for me, it depends how important role this story line has comparing to world building and other characters.

There has been so many new and interesting fantasy series published lately that I just can't keep up!
And then there is new Laini Taylor's book coming out in September that I can't wait to get my hands on!

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments @Skandia: (view spoiler)

@Nikk: haha well thank goodnes for spoiler tags!

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments I presume you clicked then Karishma? ;)

How are you finding Mistborn? I also recommend Warbreaker! I really enjoyed that one. I quite like the dry humor it delivered.

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments Anyone read Star Touched Queen? Thoughts?

Yes...but the spreadsheet hasn't shown a sunk ship so one was used on a miss. I let the mods know but didn't hear anything back - I'll check again

I lost track because of the number of comments, but whoever doesn't really read blurbs, I'm the same! I only read reviews at this point (unless the book is not first in a series) and I stay away from spoilers (but I figured I was safe this time because I'm near the end of this book.

~~~N~~~ (chocolate-cannibal-bunnies) | 616 comments R.I.P. My dear kindle. It broke. I've had it for two years. I'm.... in mourning right now. It dropped. Screen. Can't read books. IT EVEN HAD A NAME. IT WAS NAMED JEDIDIAH. I really loved that kindle.
I'm not sure what I'm going to do now?
I'm sorry. I might be out of commission for a while.
message 837: by Skandia (new)
Skandia (sfgirl) | 1724 comments Karishma wrote: "How did you like it Skandia?"
Weird book. It was so generic up until about 60% in the story and after that it really picked up. Decent writing, good romance, not much angst. Compared to other similar books that I've read , I gave it 3,5 rounded to 4 stars.
One thing that I discovered while reading this book - I probably don't want to read that much YA romance anymore. They are so similar and I guess my reading taste has changed while I was on pause.
I need a good fantasy book now or some mystery. I should be next in line in my library waiting for The Girl on the Train that everybody but me have already read.
Noa, I'm so sorry :( This is really horrible loss.
I'm like you - my Kindle is named My Precious and no one is allowed to touch it without my permission. I used to take it everywhere with me.
Nikki the Sapphired Book Dragon AKA NixieNut  (sapphireddragon) | 1397 comments I feel your pain! My 7th generation kindle paperwork that I bought just six or so months ago got lost on the train a couple of weeks ago. I was heartbroken. I do have an iPhone and ipad but I much preferred reading ebooks on the kindle and I know I won't be able to organise a new one any time soon :-(
message 840: by ~~~N~~~ (new)
~~~N~~~ (chocolate-cannibal-bunnies) | 616 comments Yeah! It was like my companion and I only just got a computer a couple of months ago after saving up for a year, so I actually had most my Uni papers saved on my Kindle (It was a Kindle Fire). I don't have a smart phone or a tablet, and I don't know if I can afford the replacement right now. And even so, shipping takes 3+ weeks out on this islands, so.... I'll try and read paperbacks, but that will be slower. A lot slower (I've become one of those people who treat paperbacks like precious babies that might break if you bend the pages).

I'm really depressed right now because all of the information I lost. Sorry I sounds so down.

Kimberly (poweki) | 1713 comments On a plane now. Will finish FAKING NORMAL while I'm in the air. I'll update the details properly when I'm home.

The only other book I have at hand is NYPD RED 2. I'll start it - but not sure I'll finish it before challenge end. I'll sure try!

Sorry ive been quiet its been a very busy two days at work and Im completely buggered, will be very glad when tomorrow ends and the weekend is here. Im trying to finish off two books before the countdown ends.

kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments Noa, so sorry to hear bout your loss. i hope you find good books while your kindle is resting.
