I havent read that one yet ... let me know how it goes.

I dont use instagram for posting anything, I may stalk some celebs very sporadically when I have absolutely nothing to do though. I have no idea what my instagram name is.

Elspeth | 101 comments Welcome Skandia!

I'm going to push to read The Shadow of the Wind before Battleship ends. It's been shelved as historical, mystery, fantasy, romance, contemporary, classics, young adult, paranormal, and science fiction. So pretty much the whole gamut, lol :)

Nikki the Sapphired Book Dragon AKA NixieNut (sapphireddragon) | 1397 comments I have an instagram account attached to my blog where I post in fits and starts - you can find me as SapphiredDragonReads :-)

Nice! Also on my TBR. At the moment I've popped you down for mystery :)

message 755: by Skandia (new)

Skandia (sfgirl) | 1724 comments Thanks ladies for a warm welcome!

I'm a little confused about the Battleship game but it's ending anyway, so I'll be just listing here my current reads if they fit anywhere, I hope captains can use them

Just started RoomHate yesterday and will finish before BS ending.
Finished After You yesterday.
Both are contemporary and romance genre.

@Noa - About my name - I'm originally from Estonia and have a Finnish heritage, my name is old short version of Scandinavia :)

Great - I've used Me Before You for A-3 - read a book shelved as romance by at least 10 people. Did you like it?

message 757: by ~~~N~~~ (new)

~~~N~~~ (chocolate-cannibal-bunnies) | 616 comments @Ange, I think I'm pretty easy about 5 stars. Or maybe I just read good books? I did used to have this policy where I basically gave everything 5 (unless it offended me or something) because I figured if they got me to read the book, they were doing something right. Then, I sort of felt it wasn't fair so now I properly rate, but I'd still give something I didn't like that much a 5 if I think it's a good book for someone else.
@Ashley, I read Lady Midnight the day it came out and I've reread it once already. What do you think of it in terms of other CC books? And you can do it! Push! P.S. are you shipping any of the couples?
@Karishma, I dont have IG.
@Skandia, Wow, that's cool! I'd like to visit Northern Europe one day. For now though, the closest I'm going to get is watching Vikings on TV.
Ashley | 1439 comments Ooh that's a good sign Noa. I really like the first 3 TMI books - wasn't too thrilled with the rest of the series. TID was my fave :)
I felt the same. However, I did like the sixth TMI book a lot. It could just be that by the time it came out I'd been reading the series for a number of years and was invested though. Have you read the Shadowhunter Academy books or the Bane Chronicles?
message 760: by Ashley (new)
Ashley | 1439 comments I just check and apparently I really liked the sixth TMI one too! Maybe because it was finally ending too haha. Noooo...I know that I should before reading this one but I don't like e-readers etc (Shadow hunter Academy). I have the Bane Chronicles (50cents from Kmart) buut I'm just not so keen on starting? Not sure why!
I get the feeling. Even when reading, maybe especially when reading, it's hard not to procrastinate.
Hi Viji - do you mind if we move this from historical to one of the new tasks? Looking at B-5 - read a book shelved as fantasy by at least 10 people for it
Viji | 389 comments Started:
Book: Rose (Rose, #1) by Holly Webb by Holly Webb
This works for Fantasy, Historical Fiction and Mystery. Also works for the task:
I-8 - read a book where the author's first name is one of the top 100 female/male names in Scotland according to nameberry (http://nameberry.com/popular_names/Sc...)
I would be able to read 1 more book before 1st July in addition to the above. Could anyone suggest the task which needs an additional read? Thanks.
Not at all, Ashley. You are free to move the books read by me to whichever task that needs them. Our goal, as a team, is to complete the maximum no. of tasks.
Could you pl. suggest another task which needs a book? Thanks.
message 766: by Ashley (new)
Ashley | 1439 comments We have lots of genres to complete tasks for so; fantasy, paranormal, YA, contemporary, science fiction, romance or even mystery!
Nothing too tricky and a lot of books will cover a few different ones.
Ashley | 1439 comments Karishma wrote: "Umm do you mean that we have to read the rest of the 3 books before reading this ashley?"
Sorry didn't see this! I think you're supposed to read everything that's been released before Lady Midnight...well that's what I've read anyway!! So the Mortal Instruments, Infernal Devices, Bane Chronicles and Shadowhunter Academy.
So many books!
Yes! Can you add the read date for this one to GR? It's not feeding into the spreadsheet
I'll let you know how I get on with it without reading Bane and Academy. Hopefully it doesn't make it too confusing!
I've read both of them, and while they make some things clearer and gjve background, they aren't necessary for the main story. In fact, I'd argue that probably even TID isn't necessary. However, if you read all the material released before, you pick up a ton of side comments and little observations that tie in to previous stories.
Kimberly (poweki) | 1713 comments ....sigh. I've had to go away for work. Another few phone-bound days ahead... I'm in the hotel now and have wifi so I can download a book. I'll finish The Last Town tonight (luckily I listed it's relevant genres last night).
How can I best be of use? What's needed? I'll see if I have something short available.
We get the page points for any book - it's just the bonus point that's different...but to collect the 5 points from a hit we need to have read the two task books.
If we use the book I finished yesterday (it be fantasy), maybe we can use Byzantium for historical?
Here's my completion post haha.
Book : Owl and the Japanese Circus by Kristi Charish
Date read: 28 June
Pages: 433
Fits: Fantasy
It was boring and it felt the whole book was just going thorugh this motion. I do not recommend! There are better books out there.
message 788: by Ange (new)
Ange (bentleyrise) | 484 comments oh I didnt realise we had to read the hit tasks to get the points from a hit. Makes sense now.
Date Read: 29/06/2016
Pages: 528
Fits Task: F7
How It Fits: read a book shelved as contemporary by at least 10 people
Woo hoo!
Sooooo, I am 100% the slowest reader here. This is actually way more than I normally read. I normally read about a book a week. Maybe more like 1.2 books per week.
I'm tryyyyiiiiiiing. Sorry to let the team down a little, haha.
I have a day off work tomorrow so will hopefully finish An Exact Replica of a Figment of My Imagination for A9
And thennnnn finish Anne of Green Gables for either B2 (book set in Canada) or I9 (shelved as classic).
message 790: by Ange (new)
Ange (bentleyrise) | 484 comments No way are you letting the team down. I usually only read a book a week, if that too. Before this challenge had started I had read 22 books all year and in less than two weeks I'm now on my sixth book. I don't know if I can keep this pace up but I'm not too worried because it's more about just having fun and meeting new people.
message 791: by Ashley (new)
Ashley | 1439 comments Ange is right! You're definitely not letting the team down ESPECIALLY since you're reading more than normal! You're lifting the team up!!
Everyone is doing a fantastic job so far :D
Skandia (sfgirl) | 1724 comments Kathleen wrote: "Skandia, have you seen the movie adaptation of Me Before You already?"
Yes, I have. Of course the book is better but it was a good adaption and great actors - I love Sam Claflin and Emilia Clarke.
About the book's sequel I just finished couple of days ago - it was not what I was expecting at all and sadly nowhere near as good as Me Before You. I'm just so disappointed what author did with Louisa. This is one of those sequels that should have never been written. Actually, the story was ok, but not with those characters we knew. It should have been a standalone novel not connected to Me Before You.
kat (wanderfulbooks) (wanderfulbooks) | 2329 comments @Noa great gif! on point too.
@Skandia: I'm not sure I'm reading the book but I'll definitely watch the movie mostly because of the 2 actors playing.
