Brittany, I found it really interesting! It's definitely a different read, but it works so well! I'm definitely planning on checking out the sequel, although I'll keep your comments in mind! From the synopsis, it sounds an intriguing way to take the story!

Just finished book 3! A novella from NetGalley: The Communication Room

Everyone's making so much progress! I almost managed to finish my first book last night, For the King's Favor. Could not keep my eyes open any longer!

I finished Anything for Him By LK Chapman last night, now I've started Seed by Lisa Heathfield.

oh, lots of interesting sounding books! I started Snow In May. It is a short story collection set in russia, all the stories take place in the same village (Magadan) at different times. The interesting thing is this town is closer to Alaska then to Russia, but yet it is where one of the most infamous work camps was. It is a differet read. My favarite story was "The Witch" where a little girl with constant un resolved migranes goes to see "Baba Yaga" as she thinks the witch is. It was a story about how strong kids can be and blind parents can be.

Lyn (wayfaringbibliophile) | 4 comments Just finished Crown of Midnight (Throne of Glass, #2) by Sarah J. Maas , still silently crying over my half sinking ship, but ready to dive into Heir of Fire.

I listened to about half of Brothers in Arms yesterday while waiting in a doctor's office after work yesterday. (Yes, I should have been grading papers.) It made the wait go much more quickly.

Hi Brittany, I have Cress and Winter waiting on my bookshelf and will read them straight after the readathon. I've got a good pace going on and although I'm ignoring the washing up etc and feeling like I'm lazy, I am thoroughly enjoying this readathon.

Just finished UnHappenings. I was surprised at how good it was. Really enjoyed the main character and would read another of this author's books, no problem. It was free and it was brought to my attention through Bookbub.

That's two science fiction books read, now onto my third which is a fantasy called Stolen Songbird.

Camile, your welcome! It is the authors debut book, but she definitely has a talent with words! I am hopeing I can finish that today and that'll give me two days for An April Shroud... But I have to see what all books I get twomorrow too!

message 64: by Veronique (new)

Veronique Just finished Fuzzy Nation, which was really good. A mixture of scifi adventure and courtroom drama. Voice over artist was Wil Wheaton who is always brilliant.

message 65: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn (an80slady6886) Finished Book 1 - 2:46: Aftershocks: Stories from the Japanese Earthquake. Changing my plan, I will now readFor Love of Country: What Our Veterans Can Teach Us About Citizenship, Heroism, and Sacrifice and when I finish this I will go back to my library book, Lilac Girls. I forget when this readathon ends: Saturday night or Sunday night.

message 75: by Levia (new)

Levia Ethel (homelesscactus) I finished reading War Horse (illustrated version), and I'm currently making my way through Wuthering Heights. It'll be the oldest book I've ever finished!

message 76: by Meghan (new)

Meghan Sonia wrote: "I've read over 700 pages of War and Peace. Only about 270 pages to go."

*High five*

I have 20 pages left. Sooooo close. (I liked this but I think the story telling of Anna Karenina was much stronger for me. When not talking about Napoleon and war, the characters felt like they belonged more in a CW tv series.)

Clare (-clare-) | 98 comments Sam F wrote: "Today starting on: The Girl in the Spider's Web by David Lagercrantz - it will be interesting to see how the writing style changes."

I loved Stieg Larssons writing and i've been put off buying this book because I can't decide if someone else taking over the series will do it justice. I'd love to know how similar you find the writing style.

My progress so far...
196 pages of Missing Pieces
82 pages of The Return of the Soldier
199 pages of Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe
Total 477

I found the characters at war are interesting but the history parts less so. But getting this read is an achievement, no matter the timeframe. You're in the home stretch!

Debating which book to start next now...

message 80: by Margie (new)

Margie I started a new job this week and haven't had much mental energy for reading. But I've been following the posts and have been with you in spirit - everyone has been making great progress! Now it's finally Friday and I should be able to get in some reading before the read-a-thon is over. I'm going to put Woman in White aside and pick up The Storied Life of AJ Fikry.

message 81: by Tammie (new)

Tammie Tackett well it looks like i am not going to make it to 3 books this time

message 82: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn (an80slady6886) About 35% through my 2nd book, but hope to get to at least another 20% or 30% before the readathon is over. We'll see. If do great, but if I don't, nothing bad will happen either.

Sam F | 198 comments Happy Birthday! I love having a birthday in June - as a kid it meant presents at xmas then half-way through the year, presents again in June. Received something for every season!

I just finished my 3rd book - The Girl in the Spider's Web by David Lagercrantz. It was good but I definitely enjoyed the first 2 books in the series. I wanted to read it to see how much the writing style changed. Found I just couldn't remember! :)

Not sure what I'm going to read today. Off to figure it out. Enjoy the last day.

message 93: by Veronique (new)

Veronique Persephone is an English small independent book publisher who reprints neglected fiction and non-fiction by mid-twentieth century (mostly) women writers. They are the ones who rediscovered Miss Pettigrew Lives For A Day, which went viral and was made into a film. You can recognise them from their grey jacket, a ‘fabric’ endpaper with matching bookmark. Each one I've read so far has been brilliant so yes I'm a bit obsessed with them...

I just finished off my second book. Even though I only read two, I feel really good about getting them off my tbr shelf. I've been looking at them so long, and not sure why I never picked them up. I'm still going to start book three, even though there's no way I can read 720 pages in the next hour and a half. haha. At least I'm starting it.
