Speaking of travel, the book I just love is A Room with a View. I just love that book! Such a satisfying read! :) I've never read "80 Days" though - I'll have to give that a whirl.

Victoria Prescott (victoria_prescott) | 56 comments There were excellent film adaptations of A Room with a View and A Passage to India in the 1980s. Both with too many stars in to mention them all, but Maggie Smith and Judi Dench were in A Room with a View and Peggy Ashcroft in A Passage to India.

A Passage to India pops up on the TV now and then but I haven't seen Room with a View in years. Books and movies equally wonderful. Howard's End is another one.

I've put The Supremes at Earl's All-You-Can-Eat temporarily aside because I picked up Before We Were Yours from the library yesterday. Alot of buzz on this one, we'll see!

Thanks for the idea; I will look for these films on iTunes, where I get my movies!

Kait Carson | 182 comments I'm reading The Pilot's Wife The Pilot's Wife Not sure how to classify the book. I remembered seeing it as a TV movie quite some time ago. From what I remember, the movie followed the plot, but not the story (does that make sense). Perhaps I read too many mysteries (is there such a thing?), but I hope the author resolves the reason for the crash by the end of the book.

message 510: by Darlene (new)

Darlene | 3 comments I finished "When Breath Becomes Air" yesterday, by Paul Kalanithi. I did a review of this book....it was a double-edged sword type of book, very well written, but I knew the ending and some of the book made me very sad indeed. If you have had someone in your life who has had cancer, or if you yourself have had it, it will strike a chord. Although I would highly recommend this book, I had to read a comedy after, as a sort of palate-cleanser, because it made me very weepy and melancholy for a time. Now back to some good old cozies for me!

I liked it. I felt like you could definitely tell it was written by two people, though. Very fast read. I finished it in about an hour and a half. Did you read 11/22/63 by Stephen King 11/22/63 or his Mr. Mercedes trilogy? All really good reads and not your usual King fare.

Just as well. The only thing the books and True Blood have in common is characters with the same names. The first season was sort of like the 1st book, but that was about it. The 4th book, DEAD TO THE WORLD, is my favorite. I loved the books and the TV show!

Really? I thought both the books and the TV series would be similar. I guess if they are different it is hard to make the usual comment that the book is better than the movie!

Kirsten (kmcripn) I just finished reading The Unpleasantness at the Bellona Club. I know many of you will quibble with me and say this is a cozy. While it has much in common with a cozy, I don't qualify Golden Age mysteries (Christie, Allingham, etc) as cozies.

Also, if you like Christie, please try a Lord Peter book! Much better than Poirot or Miss Marple.

MadameZelda I am reading and listening at the same time to A Dirty Job (Grim Reaper, #1) by Christopher Moore , Book 1. It's rather weird and humorous and I was about to quit. But as I got into it, I am liking the oddity of it. The narrator is the actor Fisher Stevens and I can imagine him as the character, for some reason.
