I am looking forward to The Ocean at the End of the Lane. I didn't put my total number of TBRs into the randomizer, only the max number of books I thought I could read in the timeframe...still a bit dangerous but nowhere near what it could have been! :)

Geri | 63 comments This is an awesome challenge. I have so many books that stay on my shelf collecting dust. The problem is that I study in a different city and all the paperback books are at home. I have only one with me. Another problem is that I've gotten so used to reading e-books that even If I get more physical copies I might just set them aside and continue with my kindle.
So I'll set my goal for one book, but I'll try to read more.

Bec (_becandbooks) So after creating my challenge I ended up at my 24 hour bookstore and came home with another 6 books. Oops.

However in my defense it was still March 31 here in Australia. And I am swearing to myself that I MUST READ at least 5 or so books already on my shelf before any of the ones I just bought.

And I am allowing myself to download ebooks but they are going to go into a file on my PC until I've finished the challenge - no new books allowed on my Kobo.

message 65: by Bec (last edited Mar 31, 2016 08:16PM) (new)

Bec (_becandbooks) Thankfully it's not really close by - it's a 20 minute drive from my house. BUT with a ridiculous sleeping pattern like mine it's so tempting all the time.

Oh and did I mention it's an honesty store? You pay what you think should be paid OR you can exchange/donate books instead.

message 66: by Amanda (new)

Amanda R (fairyteapot) | 1559 comments What a great idea! I'd be tempted all the time! During this quarter I'm going to try to not buy any new books (although Mother's Day is coming and I would like a book as a present). I must restrain myself...!

I need this in my country. We have suitcase rummages in our city (sounds like a similar thing) but can never keep track of their dates.

Rachael (allons-y-bookworm) | 4779 comments Well this challenge is off to a great start(!) It's only the second day of the quarter and even though I wasn't going to for three months, I've bought another book. In all fairness, it is Half Lost, a book I have wanted to read for a year but it has only just been published. Now do I include it in this challenge or wait until July to read it?

I would personally reason that it has been on your TBR shelf whether or not you owned it. BUT I also have gone and bought a heap of books since signing up to the challenge so maybe not the best person for advice.

I have a few books already planned for this challenge so I think I will see how I get on whether I will include Half Lost. Thanks for your advice, Becca!

I tend to agree with Becca. You've had it on your TBR for a long while even if you didn't have a physical copy. If you already have your books planned, and don't want to switch things around, by all means wait, but heck, most of the books I'll be reading came in the mail just a couple of days before we started this topic. I count it, haha! :)

Book Dragon 🐉 📚 | 187 comments SECOND QUARTER CHALLENGE: CLEAR THE SHELVES
Duration: April 1 - June 30, 2016

(0/12)

As we move into the second quarter of the year, it's time to clear our shelves! Many of us (myself included) have shelves full of books that we haven't read. In my case, it's my goal to read as many books from my "owned-but-unread" shelf as possible. Others don't buy books, but have to-read lists that are getting out of control.

Either way, pick a goal and try to clear that many books off your shelves!

Feel free to make this your own - you can add extra requirements, like using a random number generator to select books like our randomizer challenge. You could limit the challenge to books you actually own, or tackle the books that have been on your to-read list the longest.

3 Stand Alone Novels - Already Owned
1. A Will and a Way - Nora Roberts

2 Books Finish a Series - Already Owned

Finish 3 Books I Previously Started and Never Finished

4 Free Books - Already Owned
