Review:
This series really stands up to re-reads. I'm not even sure how many times I've read this book. I know I read the whole series as new books came out, at least for the last few books. And once or twice again over the years.

In this one we learn new facts about Harry's past. And we begin to get just a hint of the dark places that Rowling will take Harry before the end. But there's still enough happiness and light to be able to say that it's the (view spoiler)[last truly happy Harry Potter book (hide spoiler)]

After a wait of 4 yrs, I found it surprisingly easy to get back into Alex Craft's world.

Magic & Fae exist alongside humans, though the humans aren't very happy about it.

Alex is a half Fae, who passes as human, Planeweaver, PI who raises the shades of the dead for a price. She often works with the Police, John & Jenson, and Falin, Head of the FIB (Fae Investigation Bureau).

There is a screwy triangle, between Alex, Falin & Death. Neither Falin nor Death is supposed to be romantically involved with Alex, but both of them are, and Alex has no intention of settling down with either of them, ever. Maybe.

The Winter Queen, which is the local Court to Nekros, is having problems and so is Alex. Alex is fading because she isn't a member of the Court. Once again, Alex's dad, the closet Fae who is also the Governor, is a dick. And lots of humans are dying from a drug called Glitter. And the Winter Court is dripping instead of being all sparkle-ly and icy.

Very enjoyable easy read. Looking forward to the next one.

Tamika, from the FAQ thread:
"Q: Can we choose any book on the shelf? Are we limited to the first x number of pages?

Even if it's only tagged by one person, it would be on the shelf. I think it might work.

That's not to say the book isn't also on the popular shelf as well as the group bookshelf, but it may not be.

The group's bookshelves have been going for years before Bingo was invented, its just a coincidence that some names are the same.

This was the 2nd attempt to read this book. At last I finished it. It wasn't bad just a bit boring and not as funny as the previous books in the series.

It did have a few funny bits, leeches, bears and other interruptions to intimate moments, but the first half of the book just really dragged.

Mortimer, one of the enforcers, meets his life mate while looking for a rogue vamp. Sam is the eldest of 3 sisters and they are holidaying at their lake house which is next door to a vamp holiday house. Decker & Brinker are the other 2 vamps also looking for the rogue. And no the other 2 vamps don't pair up with the other 2 sisters.

I'll be reading the rest of the series, and hope they are more like the earlier books.

It's no different each time I read this. I absolutely love this series. Otter is one of the most underrated book boyfriends ever. I love the Kid. He's such a smart little boy living with his 21 year old brother after their mother left 3 years ago. I love this because it's the friends to lovers trope. I like the emotions that come with it. I look forward to rereading book two soon.

Review:
I must confess that I miss Rose. Not the whiny Rose of some of the middle VA books, but the kick-ass Rose of the early and ending books. But as long as you remember that Sydney is NOT Rose, and don't expect her to kick/punch first and ask questions later, this is an enjoyable book. It's interesting seeing Sydney's perspective on things, both events from the VA series, and new events. All-in-all, I think this series will be a nice spin-off from VA. Especially now that (view spoiler)[Dimitri is coming! (hide spoiler)]

Wow....I hated the way book #3 ended with the cliffhanger but book #4 did not disappoint in that it took up pretty much right where book #3 stopped so I was happy so far....Damien finds Kate but only by turning himself over to the government but I had no doubt that he would find her. But then things get really crazy - I dont want to say anymore than I got to the end of the book & yes you guess it another cliffhanger....definitely reading book #5 soon...

I was so impressed by this book. When I saw that it was on a list of self-published books, I was a bit hesitant, but boy am I glad I read it. It's a little reminiscent of Starship Troopers and Enders Game, with the bug alien bad guys, And the writing brings to mind the battles of David Weber and the sagas of Timothy Zahn. Overall, an excellent space opera. I look forward to reading more in this series in the very near future!
