This is the lowest rating I've ever rated a Kresley Cole book. I think I had read this book only once, and now I remember why. I was completed BORED. I cared neither for Nikolai or Myst. In fact, my favorite Wroth brother is Sebastian. I never cared for Myst, out of all the Valkyries, she's the least liked in my book.

It's been nearly 4 yrs since I read this one and with the new one coming out later this year, thought I'd re-read the series.

Leila, a psychic electrical conduit, is kidnapped by vampires in an attempt to use her abilities against a powerful vamp, Vlad Tepesh.

Vlad meanwhile is surprised by Leila spying on him, in his head. They work out a deal & Vlad "rescues" her. But hangs onto her for her own safety, of course.

Leila is also able to connect with the bad guy mastermind vamp Szilagyi and she uses that ability to try and bring him down, much to Vlad's displeasure.

Lots of burning vamps, explosions, gore, death, kidnapping of friends & Leila, castles & mountains tumbling down as well as some family healing & hot smexy times.

Enjoyed it as much as the first time and look forward to reading the rest of the series.

This book still had a huge emotional impact 3 yrs after I initially read it. This is a great character driven story.

We learn what made Kaleb Krychek, the dual telekinetic & telepathic Cardinal Psy, the ruthless, cold blooded, manipulative, former Councillor, a very, very dangerous man. As the story unfolds, Kaleb's upbringing from the age of 3 by a sadistic psychopath is just heartbreaking, with Sahara meeting and befriending him when she is 7 & he is 15.

For 7 yrs he has been quietly searching for his childhood friend Sahara Kyriakus. She was taken by persons unknown and has been hidden from even the NetMind & DarkMind. When he finds her her mind is broken. She has created a labyrinth for her own protection.

Kaleb has been planning for when he found Sahara, apart from the obvious medical issues, he has also been planning revenge against those who took his Sahara. For she is his, no matter what.

Meanwhile, the PurePsy are determined to turn the Psy race back towards Silence, the protocol that saved the Psy race 100 yrs ago. They don't believe that Silence is rotten at the core. They believe that the Psy race is superior to humans and changelings and should be ruling the other two.

For some mad reason they initiate terrorist acts around the world. Kaleb and the Arrows squad are kept busy helping to rescue and evacuate the victims and tracking down the leaders of PurePsy.

Kaleb has determined that Silence must fall; he, Nikita, Anthony & the Arrows prevent the Net from falling as well. Just like Sahara asked Kaleb to do.

I really enjoy this series. Nasser & Andromedia wow what a pair. Loved it. It was nice to have a lot of the characters from previous books make appearances in this one as well. The storylines that NS comes up with are terrific. Looking forward to book #9.

This is my 5th re-read of book one I believe. I can't tell you how happy this series makes me. I absolutely love Charley & Reyes together. This introduction to the series kept me laughing continuously. I love Charley's addiction to her coffee! This little mystery was good. Charley won't be deterred about the Big Black that's been hunting her since she can remember. I love her as a private detective!
