- the very first chapter book I ever read with an animal in it and still one of my favorites
- I feel like Mickey counts for this, and there are really cool concept art for the parks and the movies. Good stuff.
- this is a collection of short stories featuring all different kinds of animals. I read this over and over again when I was little.
Don't think I've really read a lot with animals for the most part. Let's see if I can come up with some.
My childhood favorites, a series similar to Nancy Drew (only better, IMHO). TONS of animals in the series from the pet dogs (Reddy, Bud & Patch) to the horses (Lady, Starlight, Jupiter, Strawberry... and others I can't remember. They had 7 horses for the 7 members of the BWGs.)Dogs in a official/police capacity ~
I really enjoy adventure books where someone has to survive on the land in the wilderness. The animals are a large part of these books because they are pretty much the main character's entertainment.
and
are a couple of my favorites
An animal book with green in the title...
is definitely a good, short read. It's about a girl trying to survive alone after an apocalyptic event. She mostly relies on her dogs, and the couple of other animals she finds for company and healing.
-- I suppose Dr Suess characters are imagined animals :-DPS @Karsyn -- I LOVED Trixie Belden as well!!
At least 3 books that feature any kind of animal (real or imagined):
- the first two books in this series, which I dearly love, have mice in them (plus all sorts of animal shifters).
- In these two books, we have Fuzz the Dust Bunny! Definitely "imaginary," but that doesn't stop me from wanting one to call my own. ;-)
- All of these books have dogs that are in some way "magical." :-)
- My choice for the LC bonus. Anne lives on a farm and there are cows and horses and... I've never read it, but it's on my TBR. ;-)

**Recommendations**
