I'm enjoying it. I love the 'locked in' storyline.

Carolyn | 9837 comments I'm reading Sourdough by Robin Sloan. Not sure yet if it's as good as Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore but I'm really enjoying it so far.

message 1708: by Li'l Owl (last edited Sep 21, 2017 07:51PM) (new)

Li'l Owl | 2504 comments Currently reading Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (year 4)

A bit of background:
All heck broke out after the Weasley's, Harry, and Hermione went to a World Cup Quidditch game. People are sending Howlers to the Ministry of Magic.

"Why are they sending Howlers?" asked Ginny.
"Complaining about security at the World Cup," said Percy.
"They want compensation for their ruined properly. Mundungus Fletcher's put in a claim for a twelve-bedroomed tent with an en-suite Jacuzzi, but I've got his number. I know for a fact he was sleeping under a cloak propped up on sticks."

Owl, it was pretty good, I was really enjoying it by the end - but it did take a little while to get into. And haha, I'm so far behind with my reviews, I think I've got 5 books (at least!) to do!

So pleased to see that you're getting back into reading Jools, especially with your crook eye, I can certainly empathise with you. :) xo

Currently listening to At Home with the Templetons by Monica McInerney. Love the narrator on this one!

Now I have finished How to Stop Time which featured, you guessed it, the essays of Michel de Montaigne being enjoyed by a young girl.

Good to know Kylie. I try not to put off doing reviews but I still struggle with them so I'd rather do them sooner rather than later. =o)

Sally906 | 87 comments Just picked up Three Sisters, Three Queens (The Plantagenet and Tudor Novels, #8) by Philippa Gregory Three Sisters, Three Queens by Philippa Gregory - one of my favourite historical writers - and the Tudor period is my favourite period. So hopefully this combination will result in a jolly good read.

A friend gave me a few of these novels, but according to GR they're random ones from the series. Can you read these individually or is it best to read them in order?

Diana (secondhandrose) | 73 comments I've just started The Scent of You by Maggie Alderson. I saw Maggie speak about this book at the Writers Festival and wanted to read it.

message 1726: by Sally906 (new)

Sally906 | 87 comments @Krystal. I am not one who is obsessed with reading in order so probably not the best person to ask. Her Tudor series certainly can be read in any order. There are lots of characters that appear in each book. Often it is the different perspectives which add to the story. The way I look at it, they are real historical characters so there will be no spoilers. 😃

message 1734: by Zoey (new)

Zoey (rozannen) | 1045 comments Currently reading Match Up Match Up by Lee Child which is an anthology of Mystery/Thriller short stories all written by 2 authors who have teamed up and written the story together as well as both including some of their more well known characters.
For Example - Diana Gabaldon is paired with Steve Berry for their story where Jamie Fraser meets Cotton Malone & Kathy Reichs is paired with Lee Child and their story has Temperance Brennan & Jack Reacher teaming up.
Its a bit different & a good way to try some new authors
