Fantastic Phrynne :)
I ust picked up from the library The Midnight Zoo by Sonya Hartnett and Every Last One by Anna Quindlen - both for challenges. And received from Penguin Random House No Job for a Girl by Meredith Appleyard

and then the book whisperer supported Salvos and Vinnies:
Crazy Love You on Jools wishlist-s $4 and
for me because it looks like a feel-good read, and who doesn't need one of those now and again?
The Patron Saint of Lost Dogs $2.50

I've just downloaded it even though I don't need any more NG books for June/July!
Thank you, thank you, thank you Carolyn!!! I requested it and was declined, but this is another edition!!! I have it now!
I had vowed not to go near Netgalley until I had caught up with all my outstanding stuff. Bad Carolyn tempted me!
Must admit I love that Read it Now section for the occasional free book:)

It's hard to be strong when they offer so many good books though :) And that's the best part of all - no requesting and maybe getting knocked back! lol

I'm not supposed to be looking for new books either Phrynne! I just popped in to check on my previous requests and there it was on the home page! As Brenda says, I had to have it!

No, no, no Brenda! I won't be tempted. I cannot fit in any more books next month! I'll just have to buy this one later :)

I'm being strong Brenda!"
Silly sausage ;)

I did enjoy it when I read it recently (another Bookstr win)

and also, yesterday the book whisperer heard of a new Vinnies. It's in town, paid parking grrr, but because guacamole mix sachets were on offer at Aldi, went to pick some of those up and walked up to the main street to this unseen Vinnies.
Hmmm. just one shelf of books, but let's not be too hasty judging!
I picked up a couple of Jim Butcher Dresden files books and some others, and at the counter, the lady said "Oh I have the whole series of those out the back"
So I came home with all these for $2 each:
Death Masks
Turn Coat
Cold Days
Ghost Story
Proven Guilty
Blood Rites
White Night
Dead Beat
all in excellent condition, some look unread
plus
Strangers on a Train
and for $1 Moonlight Becomes You: Crimes for Summer #06
I'm very pleased with my haul. I will be going back there!!!

Score Marianne!

I think this might be good for diversion on the way to Goulburn on Saturday, let's see if DH agrees ;)

Crimson Lake $4
The Burial Hour $4
The Fifth Letter$3
and for DH, who loves Nigella Lawson, Nigella Bites: From Family Meals to Elegant Dinners -- Easy, Delectable Recipes For Any Occasion $2 so he can drool over the author and the food, LOL
I had the most gorgeous covered book delivered yesterday by the publisher. It's an uncorrected proof and slightly different to the final cover picture -
The Inaugural Meeting of the Fairvale Ladies Book Club by Sophie Green
On my cover it's like an invitation
You are warmly invited to The Inaugural Meeting of the Fairvale Ladies Book Club (with a corella perched on the "g" of meeting)
Sunday, 25th June 1978, Ten o'clock.
RSVP to Sybil Baxter - ask the operator for "Fairvale"
And on the back it has a map of the Northern Territory with directions to get there:
Take the Victoria Highway from Katherine, drive for about an hour then look for a wooden sign saying "Fairvale Station"
#fairvaleladies
Three different types of Australian flowers peep in at the edges :) It's gorgeous!
