Rachel | 3524 comments I've started Little Bee and like the story so far.

I'm on pg 86 of the ebook

(view spoiler)

Also why do you think Little Bee did this (view spoiler)

Rachel | 3524 comments Some quotes that have stood out to me so far:

"It can disguise itself as power or property, and there is nothing more serious when you are a girl who has neither"

"A scar means, I survived"

"However long the moon disappears, someday it must shine again"

Little Bee Little Bee by Chris Cleave

This is my first time reading it :)

Josh Barnett (joshyboy98311) | 366 comments I just finished The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater. I was surprised to say that if definitely fits into the missing person challenge... in a weird way... and if I explain it it will end up being spoilers for the book. It was quite good. The book is about Blue (a girl). Blue's family are psychics that tell her if she kisses her true love, he will die. The town is on a Ley Line, corpse road... and its hard to explain. Thats the most im going to go into.

5) The Crow Special Edition by James O'Barr
6) The Raven Boys (The Raven Cycle, #1) by Maggie Stiefvater

Deciding what I am going to read next. Once I know I'll let you guys know.

I hope you get a chance to finish it Dustin, great book, but life gets in the way of reading sometimes. Still like "Josie and Jack" the best, but felt this was a great book as well.

message 167: by Christine (new)

Christine | 798 comments I just finished reading Little Bee. This was my second time through it. I also liked that quote "A scar mean, I survived". Charlie is the character that makes me cry. The scene at his father's grave side is so sad.

message 168: by Christine (new)

Christine | 798 comments Where is everybody? Its been very quiet here.

Its the end of the challenge and I am making the mad dash to finish it. Just read One Day. It starts in the 80s. Its a love story of sorts. So much better than the movie.

Thanks for the update, Christine! I've been around - I have an addiction to goodreads :)

I have one more book to read for the challenge but can't decide which one to read-I'm in a bit of a reading slump :/

Danell (danellbookworm) | 685 comments Ditto on what Rachel said Dustin!

Between work, work and more work, throw in birthdays and graduation parties, I have just been busy listening to audio's.....while I work!

Hope everyone is having a delightful spring!!

message 175: by Christine (new)

Christine | 798 comments It has been a busy spring, traveling with my husband for fun business travel. One more trip and then it will be a quiet summer. Hopefully a time for reading in quiet places in my garden. I hope we all get some down time this summer.

Dustin, have fun at your family reunions. You are so lucky to have such a big family!

Rachel, a reading slump? because you don't feel like reading or having trouble finding what you want to read? It happens either way.

A little bit of both-I haven't been real happy with many of the books I've picked up this year (with some exceptions :)

Reading in a garden sounds perfect :)

I know I say this every year but I can't believe it's almost summer!

Danell (danellbookworm) | 685 comments Reading slumps suck!! I worried my friends one time due to the fact that I didn't read anything for two months! Last reading slump was two weeks, the thought of listening to an audio while driving was not appealing. Hope your slump is over soon!

Robert Lambregts (robert_lambregts) | 8 comments Whoop, just in time I found this group and this awesome challenge. I didn't know how many books I would have fitting into it, as the challenge will end soon, but with only the minimum of 3 I managed to read 6 in this period (which sometimes can be a challenge as I'm a slow reader, but kinda have a readingspurt now). Anyhoo, 6 books and the challenge results are:
IRS: in 2 booktitles
House: in 1 book
Afrika: tiny part in 1 book
Massachusetts: failed this one
Drowning: 1 book
Saved from drowning: 2 books
Set in '80's (partly: 1 book
Missing person: 4 books (yes I was surprised myself)
Classic: 1 that I know of, maybe others are modern classics

Without knowing I was participating I can say, awesome challenge. Summer's gonna be good.

Christine | 798 comments Welcome Robert!

Nothing like waiting to the last minute to get all my books done. I cheated a little bit with the last one but it led to the most wonderful discovery. I decided I wasn't going to finish the last book I had selected, one published in the 80s, so I decided I would read one of my kids picture books and that would count. I went down to my basement where I have all their stuff stored for when they have children of their own and started looking for Love You Forever. I didn't find it at first but I did find a box of cookbooks that I thought I had accidentally donated when we moved from Salt Lake City two and half years ago. I was so sad because these were old favorites and gifts my mom had given me. I am so happy to have found these treasures!!!!! I did find the book I was looking for Love You Forever and if you have read it, you know I had a big boohoo this afternoon.

Over the weekend I finished Cell which counts for a book set in MA. Stephen King can make the ordinary objects sinister. Also Nightmares! for a book by an author named Jason. Jason Segel has added author to his list of talents. I think I'm done with the spring challenge.
