Josh Barnett (joshyboy98311) | 366 comments I just finished reading The Crow! It was originally published in 1989 I believe in comic format. But it is such a great comic! Highly recommend it to anyone who likes a revenge story OR the movie.

6) The Crow Special Edition by James O'Barr

You should get the special edition cause it has extra scenes not available in any other version. I ironically didn't know that until I bought it. So I was fairly happy and surprised. I read it all in one sitting. It is also quite a bit different from the movie. Its kinda like Jurassic Park that it kept the same plot but a lot of the movie is different.

Christine | 798 comments I just finished The Truth about the Harry Quebert Affair It has a character that is missing. This is an unusual mystery. Just when you think you have it figured out, the author throws you a curve and you have to start all over again to figure out whodunit, a complicated plot but well worth the time spent reading.

24 Hour Read A Thon!!!! You are going to read for 24 hours straight? How does this work? I hadn't heard anything about it.

Which Koontz Book will you choose? April Group Reads are Velocity & Odd Interlude. May Group Reads are Life Expectancy and Odd Apocalypse. Maybe that will help you decide.

I am currently reading The Door to December. Odd Interlude will be the next Koontz book I read.

message 126: by Jenn (new)

Jenn (darkstarcassidy) | 257 comments Odd Interlude? I gotta look into that one. I have Darkfall and Hidwaway and The husband at home but I'm definitely gonna check out Odd Interlude now. Thanks

Darkfall is currently in the lead to be chosen for June Group Read :-) Odd Interlude is a good one and short. Hideaway is of course, also a good choice.

Danell (danellbookworm) | 685 comments I am elated, excited and trilled beyond belief!! Just wanted to share my news with my book loving friends. I am fortunate enough to get tickets to see Stephen King in Omaha NE on June 14th! This will be my first time seeing any author, let alone my favorite! His books are what inspired my love of reading.

My son says King is my hero. No, heroes, to me anyway, risk their lives for others....police, firefighters, military....etc. King is perhaps a travel agent, his books allow an escape from the everyday. His books bring me joy and pain, that is dealt in life.

Anyway I don't mean to sound like Annie Wilkes, but I am just excited and wanted to share my news with my friends. Happy reading!!

I would love to see him-is he going to speak or read from his book? You'll have to make sure you tell us all about it-wish I was going with you :D

Congratulations Danell :-) You have good taste in storytellers.

message 133: by Danell (new)

Danell (danellbookworm) | 685 comments King will discuss his work, read from his latest release "End of Watch" and take questions from the audience. 400 pre signed copies of his new book will randomly be distributed to audience members. There is no assigned seating so I am not sure what time to start waiting in line. Torn about that decision. Am fortunate to visit my family once a yr, guess I will be spending part of that time in line with my sister. She is going with me, thankfully she purchased the tickets online, my computer decided to run slowly at that time!

Rachel, I wish you could go with me also!! Would love meeting my book loving friends in person!! And what better way to connect than to spend time together waiting in line to see an author!

You guys are the best!! Thanks for being an important part of my life!

Happy Monday!

Karen B. (raggedy11) | 46 comments I am so sorry I didn't get back to you regarding Dewey 24 hour readathon. Yes you set aside a Saturday where other people all over the world will also be reading. There are mini challenges and the goal is to read for 24 hours if you want to. Lots of people take naps. I did not do so well this time around. I can't believe how much I slept but I tell myself my body must have needed it. They are held every October and April. There's a group for it on Goodreads but people also respond on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. You'll have to get your housework done the day before. Prepare meals and snacks ahead of time and tell everyone do not disturb *LOL* You do take breaks as needed and switch off books to help keep you from falling asleep. It's lots of fun. People prepare a TBR pile ahead of time always bigger than what you could possibly read. There are door prizes and cheerleaders to cheer you on in your reading.

Oh my goodness Karen, this sounds like so much fun!! I have never heard of this, thank you for sharing!! Will have to look into this!

Must be something in the air about sleeping, I slept more than usual this weekend. Agree with you, my body must have needed the rest.

Thanks again for bringing this event to my attention!

Rachel | 3524 comments finished The Grownup -the house plays an important role in the story.

This story had its moments but I prefer her novels.
Sharp Objects is being made into a series for HBO and I read she's involved in the writing so who knows when she'll write another novel. :/ I will watch the show though :)
