Task 20.1 requires that you state in your post the genre you selected from the 3 choices for the suit you drew. Please repost with the missing information.

Separate words must be separated by spaces - a hyphenated word only counts as one word. The Italian's Rags-to-Riches Wife is only 4 separate words, so will not work for task 5.6.

Sandy I've reposted post 602 and the book did meet the requirements for this SRC challenge.

Also, regarding my points, I've changed them from 85 to 95 for this repost and continued this up until my latest completion post which I've just added. So my total should be 135.

Kristina Simon (kristinasimon) | 11204 comments Masoodah - post 873

We use physical forms of a book (i.e., mass market paperback, paperback, or hardcover) to establish page count. When determining page count, you should go by the copy you read- EXCEPT when reading ebooks, audiobooks, and large print books. In those cases, you use the page count for the mass market paperback if one exists. If there is no mass market paperback edition, use the paperback edition and if no paperback is available, use the hardcover edition.

The edition of Mirrorscape you've linked to has no format listed. However, the paperback is 352 pages. The hardcovers are also listed at 352 pages. Based on these page counts, this book is not eligible for a Big Book ticket.

I was about to post the problem - with the page counts shown, this book does not work for a task option requiring a book of at least 500 pages.

If the copy you actually read is over 500 pages and is a paper book, then you can ask a librarian to edit the entry to indicate that. But, as of now, there do not appear to be any paper books with a page count of 500 pages or more.

message 110: by Bea (new)

Bea Sandy & Masoodah, I just checked Worldcat (book) and Amazon (paperback) for format for the ISBN for this book Mirrorscape. I have updated it for GR. I also noted that Worldcat did not give pages and that Amazon page count is over 500. I left the page count as GR records it...564.

Masoodah, with Bea's help, you can use this book now - please repost, and make sure that you link to the edition that now indicates a paperback with 564 pages.

The use of childrens books for the SRC is not based solely on AR points - please review the Rules of the Challenge:
"d) Books that have an IL designation of MG MUST ALSO have a BL of 5.0 (or higher) AND AR Pts of 7.0 (or higher). The AR BookFinder UK equivalent for MG is MY."

The ARBF info for The Sword of Summer is
IL: MG - BL: 4.8 - AR Pts: 18.0.

This book does not meet the requirements for the use of childrens books in the SRC.

All posts, including reposts, must include links. If you just copy your old post, then add info, the links will not copy. If you want to use your old post as a starting point, go to the post, click "edit" at the bottom of the post and copy the version that comes up in the editing box. That will preserve your links.

Also, please do not include the tasks that did not have a problem with them. There is no need to do that.

Part C. Want to make it easier on yourself? One Book option. 6. Pick ANY one of the above 5 options and read a book of at least 650 pages that fits.

I read Forever Amber by Kathleen Windsor. This satisfies criteria for PART B Option 3 (Has a two word title) and also Option 5 (Title contains a person's name). This book has 972 pages. I am also claiming a Big Book ticket. Book was published in 1944 so I am claiming a Golden Oldie

Points: 30
Big Book: Yes (2 tickets)
Golden Oldie: Yes

Total points and stats
Books read: 8
Points: 155
Golden oldies -1
Big books - 1

task 20.6, option 4, requires that matching names be lined up exactly - lst name with lst name, etc. In this case, the name Lawrence is the surname of the guest and the middle name of the author, so the book will not work for the task.
