My review for the ninth book of this challenge, #5 St Patrick's Day The Cold Cold Ground by Adrian McKinty 4★

A good police procedural set in the Belfast of the 1980s during The Troubles. Gritty but not too grim!

I have really enjoyed Kate Grenville's historical fiction, especially The Lieutenant since it was based on actual diaries and accounts of the time.

I think I read it not realising that he was a real man and those were real events. Fascinating relationship between him and the indigenous people who befriended him.

Although quite dark and disturbing, touching on some topical Australian issues, this book left me with a sense of hope. The descriptions of the Australian coastal town and the dialogue rang true for me, I had the impression that I was watching on a screen.

Very funny, insightful follow-up to the equally delightful The Rosie Project.

NYC offers many challenges for a man who wants to be prepared for any contingency regarding his new wife's pregnancy. She's less than enthusiastic about the microscopic attention.
