Katherine (katkattrinn) | 760 comments I never understand why anyone liked Twilight. When I read the book it was okay, but not something that should people obsess about and every girl in my school was obsessed with these books/movie/soundtracks (okay the music was/ is kind of good)/actors (and that time I wasn't a serial reader) and I believe that one of the movies I watched in less then 20 minutes (just the interesting parts).

Berit☀️✨ (berittalksbooks) | 194 comments I like the books, and I like the movies, obsessed, I don't think so, I'm a little old to be obsessed ;-)
Also when I read it it was, like something I had never read before, so I think that intrigue me, probably more than it would now.

I wasn't sure what to expect from this book. I had downloaded it when it was on sale after seeing it recommended on a blog, but I knew next to nothing about the plot. Turns out it's about a team of detectives who have to deal with the complications of turning over humans to other races for breaking (usually unknowingly) alien laws. It's much more interesting than that sounds. I liked it a lot, especially the writing style, and I'm wondering where the rest of the series goes.

Review:

This series is pure cheesy entertainment. The first half of this book, though, made me want to throw it across the room. Apparently, it's possible to have 150 pages of back and forth conversations about how much you love someone (or don't). The second half had a much more entertaining plot, and pacing. I still have no idea how most of the world-building makes sense, but it's fun enough that I don't care.

Book Sustained (The Legal Briefs, #2) by Emma Chase 2/4⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
How it fits second in series

Emma Chase really does a fabulous job with the guys point of view. I definitely enjoyed this book more than the first book in the series, it was kind of a little Raising Helen meets Mr. Mom. Jake and Chelsea, we're perfect together, and all the kids just added such an element of fun and a lot of humor! This was definitely better than expected, and that is always a treat! I would definitely recommend this book, and you could definitely read it as a standalone.

This was your pretty typical love story, but as in all this authors books, you really fall in love with all the characters. I really want to be part of this family, go shoe shopping with the sisters and eat Sunday night dinner with the entire family. Decklan and Callie are really cute together, and I liked how this relationship developed. I will definitely continue with this series.

Book The Vincent Brothers (The Vincent Boys, #2) by Abbi Glines 2/15⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
How it fits second book and series
Advice I would give to any of my friends or my daughter, is never get involved with a guy who is in love with another girl. Unfortunately for Lana we are not friends nor is she my daughter, LOL!
Sawyer and Bo Brothers/cousins both love ashen, and at the end of the previous book Ashton and Bo are together. Enters Lana now that Sawyer is single, she is going to make him fall in love with her. Oh yes, and I forgot to mention Lana and Ashton are cousins, this all sounds like a soap opera. And even though it was a bit ridiculous, I still did enjoy the book, even if I never was quite sure where Sawyer's heart was at. Although the epilogue did try to convince us that it all was a happily ever after situation!

Review:

I really want to like these books, especially since I love naval fiction. I read the first one and found I just don't like the narrative style. It hopes from action/funny story/situation to other action/funny story/situation without really leaving you time to savor anything. Also, the plot on this one felt like five different short stories that had been pasted together. I feel like I'm missing the point, especially since so many love these books, but I don't think I'm going to try again.

How it fits book 7 in series
I haven't read a book in the series in a very long time, it was good to get back to it. Spencer and Hawk , Really reminded me of the TV series. The best part of this book was the relationship between Spencer and Paul a young boy who kind of lost his way, and got trapped in the custody battle between his parents. This is a book that I probably would have enjoyed more had I read it rather than listen to it on audio, it just reminded me how far audiobooks have come, and I'm going to pay closer attention to publication date when I decide whether to listen or read a book. Production quality has come a very very long way!
