Week 4:
Spot: 19 or alternate: 1995
by Caroline B. Cooney
Both Sides of Time
Qualification: 1995 & book 1
Finished: 2/6/16
Rating & Review: ★★★★
This is a time travel romance. Annie is from the year 1995. She has a boyfriend who doesn't even notice if she is around or not. Then she falls (literally) back in time to 1895. She becomes involved with people in that time and becomes involved in a love triangle. The problem is that she is hurtled through time without knowing why or how. Will she ever be able to stay in one time period?
I love time travel romances and this one is a pleasant one to read. It does leave a lot of questions that I hope will be resolved later in the series. I am intrigued enough to continue on the journey.

Week 4: Spot 19
Book read:
The Rising: Antichrist Is Born by Tim LaHaye
Series: #1 in the Before They Were Left Behind series
Date finished: 02/07/16
Rating: ★★
Review: This book focuses on the childhoods of Rayford Steele and Nicolae Carpathia from the Left Behind novels. The storyline goes back and forth between Rayford growing up and his relationship with his parents and eventual marriage to Irene and then with Nicolae's mother and father and all the plotting that went on to bring him into the world. This book didn't hold my interest that much, so I won't be continuing with the series. I can see how some people might be interested in Nicolae's childhood, but why Rayford's? I just started rereading the Left Behind series so that I can get through all the books this time, and I've only read the first two, so maybe there's something in the other books that references Rayford's childhood and would make this more enlightening about a particular incident. But for me, I didn't need to know any more about Rayford's past than what was revealed in the first Left Behind book. And then for Nicolae, this childhood of his is probably not based on Scripture, just a made up story. So that seems weird with the Left Behind books seeming to be a fictionalized account of what the events in Revelations could look like in the modern world. They went from that to just making up whatever for Nicolae's past? Hmm...no thanks. Seems like this was just an attempt to keep the franchise going.

Maddison, I checked the rules and it counts because you can use it as a 1. Don't start a new book.

This book was so different to what I thought it would be. But then, I had no idea what it would be about. I didn't read the blurb :p I based it on a fb recommendation :p I'm so glad I read it. The last 3/4 were mental, because I read a spoiler that I should not have read, but holy moly! It is amazing! Went by so fast too! I love the multiple POVs. I know some people don't like that, but I always like knowing what other characters are thinking, and makes for a change of scenery and characters. I like how Eva wasn't an annoying main character, but man, Judge was sooooooo effed up! I have never known someone to be so messed up. He was actually psycho, and I have no idea how he thought what he did was okay. I never would've guessed it was (view spoiler) Strange how (view spoiler) ["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

I will finish it tomorrow so it will work for another challenge also. I should have my review posted no later than Thursday morning.

Week 4 | Spot: 19
Week 4: Rock Solid ((Rock Solid Construction #1) by Riley Hart, 271pgs/GR

Date Finished: 2/10/16
4 stars
This is still a four stars for me. It had nice pace and touch too much nookie scene. I like where it started in Trevor's recovery. Overall I like this one and hopefully the next book will explain Jake and Blake's relationship.

Review:
Ok where do I begin. I mean first a book about phoenixes is cool already but then when you combine Kelly's writing you get a really amazing read. I have loved her writing since I read her Touched by Death series and couldn't wait to try out another one. I loved the whole concept of this book with us meeting Cara and learning what she is and what happens to her when she is reborn was really cool and unique. I loved that the author created something different and not the norm of what is out there. As we get further into the story and we meet Logan I have to say I liked him. He was so damaged and needed help and Cara was the right person for him. I love the start of a budding relationship for them and can't wait to see what the next story brings. When you add in the Hunters too and the fact that Cara was getting close to her rebirth you end up going on quite a ride. That cliffhanger has done me in so hopefully book 2 is coming soon.

How it Fits: 1st in series
So I was given Deeper to read in another group as a blind date. When the book starts, Caroline just broke up with her boyfriend of three years. He took pictures of them together that she didn’t feel comfortable with. He decided he would post them as a ‘joke” and thought nothing wrong with it. She winds up dealing with the aftermath. She winds up getting an internal dialogue in her mind that she can’t turn off calling herself a slut, whore that she deserves it (what guys say about her).
Caroline learned that she should have spoken up when she felt uncomfortable about the pictures and that she trusted the wrong guy. She eventually is able to get on with her life with the help of West realizing that life does go on.
So I didn’t’ know there was a thing as revenge porn (where one party doesn’t consent to having pictures posted) and only there are only two states in the nation that it is illegal. I find that appalling that someone can post images and not have to worry about criminal prosecution.

So, I am still reading

I am enjoying the book so far and wondering where the intrigues are going.

Oh man, we are cursed with low rolls! LOL oh well :P
Well, I guess that means I am reading Twilight this week. My partner in one of groups chose this book for me to read this month and it fits the Best Cover Art Listopia I need to read for my other team challenge. Now it is on this list. I think something is telling me I need to finally read this book - LOL

Week 5:
Spot: 22 or alternate: Best Book Boyfriends
Twilight by Stephenie Meyer
Qualification: Best Book Boyfriend list
Finished: 2/14/16
Rating & Review: ★★★
With all the hoopla around Twilight over the years, I guess I expected more. Or maybe it is because I read the Morganville Vampires first but this just didn't live up to my expectations. When I read Glass Houses (Morganville Vampires #1), I liked it so much that I chain read the entire series (and yes there a lot of books in that series). Twilight is okay in comparison. Edward just seemed too perfect and Bella too head over heels in love right away. Will I read the other books? Probably as this was not a bad book. I just hope the other ones hold my attention better. This one didn't really catch it until I was over 60% into the book (which is why it took so long to read it).
