And does it just depend on the luck of the dice as to which team wins first?
Also, if we don't all have our reviews in by Friday, does that mean that we need to wait another week to roll? Or can we roll when the last person gets their review in?

Read 29th January

How It Fits: 2nd in series
I liked this book a lot more than I thought I would. The only reason I read it was for a team challenge, but I'm glad I did because I could still vaguely remember If I Stay, and I own this one so I'm glad to have read it. I haven't read a book in a while, and I'm glad I had the inspiration to read this one.
I like how this one was from Adam's perspective, and how it tied up a lot of loose ends. I like how vulnerable Adam ended up being, and how he ended up being impulsive and saying stuff he wish he hadn't said, even when he got the response he wanted. I loved the (view spoiler) I also like how he decided (view spoiler) And the lyrics in the songs are amazing. I love them. :)["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

Not sure which book I am going to read....
Moon Dance book 1
Exiles in Time book 5 (really want to read this but still need to read book 4 first)
Opal Fire book 1
Probably won't get anything read today or tomorrow because of this damn tooth. Feeling kind of zoned out at this point. I will have something read by Friday though (it is coming out on Wednesday if the swelling is down).

I love this one. It didn't have it usual angst about coming out. They MCs had their issues but it wasn't overly dramatic, which I appreciate. I definitely going to continue with this series.
Week 3 - Spot 15
Book read:
Love You More by Lisa Gardner
Series: #5 in Detective D.D. Warren series
Date finished: 01/30/16
Rating: ★★★★
Review: Det. D.D. Warren is called to a crime scene at a state trooper's home. The husband, Brian, is dead, the daughter, Sophia, is missing, and the trooper, Tessa Leoni, is battered. Tessa says her daughter was missing when she got home from work and that her husband wouldn't say where she was and began to assault her. She had to kill him to defend herself. So D.D. and Bobby are on the case to find the missing girl and discover the truth of what happened in Tessa's home that night.
I haven't read this series in a while, so I didn't remember all the backstory between D.D. and Bobby, but it was interesting that the detectives almost take a backseat to Tessa Leoni in this book. They seem to be two steps behind while she's the smart one taking the search for her missing daughter into her own hands. I see now why this is #5 in the D.D. Warren series but also #1 in the Tessa Leoni series. Nice start to a spinoff featuring Tessa. But back to this story -- It kept me riveted and trying to figure out what really happened with Tessa and Sophia and Brian. The ending did not disappoint.

Week 3:
Spot: 15 or alternate: Goodreads Choice Awards 2014
Book: Opal Fire by Barbra Annino
Qualification: book 1
Finished: 2/1/16
Rating & Review: ★★★★
I really enjoyed this cozy little mystery. Stacy is a reporter and a witch in denial. She wants nothing to do with the witchcraft her family practices. Then her cousin's bar is torched and bodies keep popping up. Stacy is determined to find out what is going on.
I love the bits of humor sprinkled throughout this book. Also, the whole witch in denial thing is a nice touch to the story. I was a but disappointed with Stacy's boyfriend. He didn't seem to trust her much and relationships tend to flounder without trust. I like how the author left a bit of mystery at the end to set up for the next book in the series. I will be adding this series to my reading list.

I had the audiobook and the Kindle book of my book this time, so it really helped me speed through!

I really enjoyed this book and look forward to the rest of the series. For some reason, haven’t explained the cause yet, IAAP hits kids when or while going through puberty. Either you live or die. If you lived, odds were you have some type of psychic powers. Due to fear, all kids surviving that showed any type of abilities were locked up for their own safety.
In some ways this book reminded me a little of Neal Shusterman’s Unwind series to the extent of removing kids from society for the greater good. With the Darkest Minds, it appears that only the U.S. is affected, since Canada and Mexico built huge walls to prevent anyone going across the borders, along with countries not allowing anyone from America (doesn’t matter if you are a citizen or not) to their country. I wished the author would have given more of a hint of why it happened. She did do a good job is explaining the effects of IAAP with the economy crumbling, population dropping and the inner turmoil government.
This book is about Ruby’s journey escaping the prison she was in, escaping those who helped her, and finding a way to control her powers. Along the way she makes friends and becomes very protective of them. When she realizes the Slip Kid that they are looking is also the same classification as she is, she desperately wants to find him to help teach her how to control her powers.
It’s a bit frustrating writing this without giving away spoilers. Ruby winds up growing up a lot and taking off her rose colored glasses as time goes one with people that say they want to help her. The bottom line is, because of what she can do they wall want something from her. At the end she winds up making a decision that will save her friends, but cause her to go into service. She winds up questioning it at the end, however she has no choice but to live with it now.

I had a strange feeling I'd like this book, but I ended up liking it a lot more than I thought I would! I liked the multiple POVs, and then the twists as you found out who each character was! I thought all along that (view spoiler) but I assume that's what Pearson wanted us to think. I like how it turned out (view spoiler) And I loved the ending, it was amazing! I can't wait to read the second book. The only thing I didn't like was the slight confusion between characters, which I again assume was intentional, and the love triangle :/ No need for spoilers there, seeing as it isn't one. Always love triangles these days.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

I have to say I liked this one alot as the main character Rene was a great heroine. She wasnt the whiny type that I generally dont like. This was also my type of book as I love a good boarding school book. I have to say I didnt jump on the Dante bandwagon though and I still cant say if I really like him. Overall it was a good quick read.

You might have to be friends with her in order to send her a message. Some people's profiles are like that. I think it's when they set them to private.

I just looked at her profile and I see that she's a Goodreads Author! So I found the send message option in the drop down menu under the Follow or Fan button. I just sent her a message asking her to come over and check in with us.

Well, if she is unable to meet her obligations, then she will have to be withdrawn :(
IT's not really fair for the rest of the team

Thanks for letting me play and enjoy the rest of the race!
I think I am going to try the alternate category this week and read
. The library just happens to have a copy available so I will put a hold on it and pick it up tomorrow.

Yep you can do 1st in series, 9th in series or 19th in series (good luck with that! LOL)

LOL The book I chose is on hold at the library and seeing as how it is almost 5 AM, I guess I will have to wait to start my book.
