Tonari no Emily (emlfem) Well The Big Sleep wasn't fantasy, so perhaps I'll try to replace it later. Right now I think I'll just add whatever I'm reading if it fits...
But I rated it 4/5, I really appreciated the old-timey detective story, not something I usually read.

But the film adaptation of The Big Sleep (which I just watched on New Year's Day) was scripted by Leigh Brackett, so I'm going to say it should count ... :)

And I'm aiming for letters before genre, although I'll substitute too if I can ;)

Jenna Kathleen (jennakathleen) I'm going to try to stick to fantasy as much as possible, but I might have to bend the rule a bit for letters like Q and X. Unless anyone has any author suggestions for the tough letters?

Tonari no Emily (emlfem) Okay, so I haven't been reading that much fantasy. I've been into more science fiction lately. But I'll add what fits now anyway.

Re: Asimov
I really love Asimov! I just finished the Robot novels, and now working on the Empire novels, and then I'm going for his Foundation series. The Currents of Space is his second Empire novel, and I really enjoyed it. Definitely better than his first Empire, but I think I liked his Robot novels better.

The Magician King
I liked this better than the first novel, I didn't hate all the characters as much. I listened to this as an audiobook and I think I listened to it faster than I did the first, so that could have had an effect on my perception of the pacing. Also what do you know it's actually fantasy!

Hyperion
If I had known this ended in a bit of a cliff hanger I wouldn't have even started it without first having the second book at hand! I like to be warned about that kind of thing. But I did like this one a lot as well. I half listened/half read this one, and I think I should have just read it all the way through since I didn't like the female narrator at all.

Tonari no Emily (emlfem) Wow, I forgot about this in the 3 (!) years its been since I first posted. Just updated since I'm trying to avoid studying lol

I only have 6 more to go! That was just three years of reading what I wanted. Lots of fantasy, sci-fi, and a few random non-genre fiction and non-fiction. I can definitely finish it this year, just need to find some books that fit the rest of my alphabet.

X is a really tough one.

Yeah, I've been searching for one, and I'm really not getting much here. Might go with what I've seen on others': Cao Xueqin's The Dream of the Red Chamber

Tonari no Emily (emlfem) Hmm I think I like the sound of that one a little more.
