What Are You Reading, Nora and Beyond?

Books from December:

Not a big non-fiction reader, but came across these two that I really liked. The first is one you've probably seen popping up since last year from people on your friend's list (that's how I ended up coming across it :D).
It does have a few long moments in it but the book isn't just hilarious, but it gives you insight into the thoughts/thought patterns of those suffering from similar issues as the author does. It was as enlightening as it was funny.

===========================
This second non-fiction recommendation is made for those who might need something like this for a challenge (reference book, horse on the cover, etc).
It's informative in a way that doesn't make it tedious.

My Review
==============================
Now on to the fun fiction reads!

Rereading the Bishop/SCU series by Kay Hooper. Highly recommend this series to those that enjoy a thrill with their paranormal and romance reads :)

Reread the Mckinney Brothers series by Claudia Connor before pouncing on her newest release. Love love love this series.

This is a new series I came across thanks to the a passport challenge I'm doing. The series is set in New Zealand and has turned out to be an interesting romance series. Have only read 2 so far with the 3rd (out of 4 books) pending.

(I don't know if it's because I accidentally read the 2nd book first, but the 1st book of this series was tedious. Didn't like it as much as the 2nd. Haven't read the 3rd yet, but keeping fingers crossed)
Finally getting back into the Kowalski series. The first book was good/okay, but it did kind of put me off a bit from continuing on. So glad I did, though. The continuing books are better and have high hopes for the 4th book and on.

For fans of paranormal shifters, would highly recommend T.S Joyce's continuing shifter universe/series that starts off with the Saw Bears series. Re-read the whole universe Feb and into March. If you do - read them before the Red Havoc book I put up above. It's the latest in the series.

(Going to try to be better about posting more often so I can give a better review/heads up about the book instead of just putting the covers on a post)

- Re-read the first book in the Most Likely series and finally got to the 2nd. Really really enjoy it and recommend it. The 3rd in this trilogy series comes out in May. I really hope that there will be a spinoff (or the series will go from a trilogy to just an on-going one) because I really want to know what happens to the side characters in there (like Jo's deputy and Zoe's siblings Zane and Zanya. I really want them to have a happy ending)

My Review

Haven't gotten very far into it but so far I like the narration and story. For those with Kindle Unlimited - the book and audio are free.

The story line was on that was predictable and written many times. I felt the main characters of Mitch and Sarah were not very well developed even after reading book 1. I would have liked to have read more on what Mitch did on the ranch and move of Sarah's heritage and life on the reservation. It wasn't a very exciting read even when Jonathan's mother comes back for him. Very predictable. I like the author and her books, but was sort of disappointed in this one. I will finish the other free book in the series. I don't give up easily. 3 stars
I finished The Sex Bucket List by Prescott Lane and loved it! Here's my review.
I'm now reading (and almost done with) Untraceable by Laura Griffin, Tracers #1, and very much enjoying the story.

Me either, Vicki. I'm trying to make my way through all of her books.

Book 2 of the Wallflower series was so delightful. I read the first three out of order, but so far this book is my favorite one in the series. Lillian Bowman took an instant dislike to Marcus, Lord Westcliff, London's most eligible aristocrat from day one. They constantly display their dislike and intolerance for each other throughout this book and the first book. But some sort of spark and chemistry (which Lillian insists is a magical perfume) keeps bringing them together. Lillian and Marcus are two stubborn, and pigheaded people. For this era, it is unusual for a woman to speak her mind and do whatever she wants no matter what. But Lillian is way ahead of her time and continually goes to prove the independent woman she is and always will be. Her parents are worried she will never find an aristocratic husband. The saying is, opposites attract. Lillian reminded me so much of myself that I couldn't help but adore her. I found myself chuckling at Lillian's antics and could actually visualize Marcus shaking his head and rolling his eyes at her. More than 5 stars!!

I finished the three stories I committed to reading in Hot on Ice: A Hockey Romance Anthology by two of the authors with whom I have a history (Robin Covington & Christi Barth) and one by an author whose books I've on my shelf (Kimberly Kincaid). For short stories, they were really well done. All of them involve players from a fictional pro hockey team and some show up in other stories. This anthology was very well planned and organized. Here's my review.
I'm now reading You Can Count on Me by Roxanne St. Claire, Bullet Catchers #2.5, found in the anthology, I'll Be Home for Christmas.

What a fun story.

What a fun story.

- A must for Terry Pratchett fans. This book continues on with the misadventures of Rincewind. Not his most humorous work, but still pretty funny and thought provoking :)

- An interesting sci-fi read that incorporates possible future scenarios and does a take on what would happen if there were multiples of a single person. There are a few tedious parts and I thought it got a bit jumbled with all the personalities, but still something I think would be good to read at least once. And for those with Kindle Unlimited - it's free.

- Very sweet and easy fantasy read with love tied in. (Free with Kindle Unlimted)

- A recommendation for fans of military romances. I've read this series and overall, it was entertaining.

- New supernatural mystery type series. I don't know why, but I found myself sucked into it and actually found it pretty good. I think there is a lot of room for improvement in how the author is trying to deliver the larger/series story line, but I do plan on reading the next in the series with high hopes.

- Easy to read romance and the kindle version is free. (All the 1st books for the author's series is free for anyone looking for new books to read)

- Just finished this today. It was very easy to get immersed into the story. But I felt that there were parts of the book that could have been shortened and it would have been better. Just got a little tedious here and there. But overall, really liked it.

Book and audio is free through Kindle Unlimited. Both the story and the narration was very well done. I disliked the older MC for quite awhile (but to be fair, I don't think she was meant to be all that likable in the first place).
I enjoyed the journey and really liked how the author made the oldest (Carly) pretty realistic in regards to most teens. And also liked how she ended up having her grow as a person. (Though there was a scene that dealt with her sister that made me want to kick the shit out of her)
And by the end, I have to admit I cried a bit. >.> My only real complaint about this book is I wish there had been an epilogue type ending where we get to see just how far the girls have come. But even so, still a pretty good ending.
I finished Falling Hard by Pamela Clare, Colorado High Country #3, and loved it. Here's my review.
I'm now reading The Last Chance Matinee by Mariah Stewart, The Hudson Sisters #1. I'm 30% in and really enjoying the story.
