I'll let you know how I like it Nancy.

Barbara (cinnabarb) | 10022 comments It took a while, but I finally finished The Witches: Salem, 1692 The Witches Salem, 1692 by Stacy Schiff
by Stacy Schiff.

The non-fiction tome is a thorough exposition of what happened during the Salem witch frenzy of 1692. The book is overly dense and too long, but the author's prodigious research and the interesting story rate 4 stars from me.

It's such a fantastic series! I love Harry Bosch... he's so awesome. It stinks such a great man has to fight such a screwed up system to get justice... But, I love that he always gets justice (well.... so far as I've read in the series) for the victims and their families. He's so great... I wish he was real.

Lisa (ylisa7) | 25 comments I am in the middle of a reading challenge. I just finished:
Speak which is a YA book about a 13 year old girl who hides inside herself after being raped. It tells of her quiet 9th grade year in school as she is shunned by others without her being able to speak up and tell people what happened to her.

Last night I finished Infidel which is an amazing story of a very brave woman. My review:

Next up for me:
The Disappearing Girl about a girl who becomes anorexic

and
Never Let Me Go

I finally finished Days of Rage: America's Radical Underground, the FBI, and the First Age of Terror -- I need a while to think it over before coming to any conclusions.

For relax purposes, I'm reading Betty Boo, by Claudia Pineiro, a crime novel from Argentina.

I've just finished Betty Boo, by Claudia Pineiro. Her work is a great example of how, in the right hands, plot becomes secondary to everything else while still remaining the centerpiece.

Barbara (cinnabarb) | 10022 comments I finished Trust No One by Paul Cleave Trust No One by Paul Cleave,

Sandysbookaday (taking a step back for a while) (sandyj21) | 4770 comments Death on the Riviera A British Library Crime Classic by John Bude Death on the Riviera: A British Library Crime Classic by John Bude 4 stars from me.
This is my second John Bude novel, and I am now a firm fan.

He writes with a light hand, adept characterisation, and a dry sense of humour.

Death on the Riviera starts with the secondment of Detective Inspector Meredith to the French Riviera where a counterfeit currency racket has been linked to an Englishman, Chalky Cobbett, a well known crook and forger.

Aided by Sergeant Strang and Inspector Blampignon, Meredith follows the clues to Villa Paloma, the residence of an eccentric Englishwoman and her odd assortment of guests. There is smuggling, a clandestine love affair, a wronged husband, a cad, and, of course, a body.

This is a highly enjoyable classic murder mystery.

Thank you to NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for the gift of an ARC in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.
