Tad (tottman) | 139 comments I finished reading Clawback Clawback (Ali Reynolds, #11) by J.A. Jance by J.A. Jance and really loved it. This was my first full-length novel by her. I'd read a novella and really liked it so wanted to give this a try. This was a fun, fast-paced read with great likable characters and I had a blast. Now I have a ton more books to add to Mount TBR!

Very interesting (if disturbing) premise for a story.

Barbara (cinnabarb) | 10022 comments I finished As the Pig Turns As the Pig Turns (Agatha Raisin, #22) by M.C. Beaton by M.C. Beaton.

In this 22nd book in the series Agatha Raisin goes to a pig roast and discovers that the 'pig' is a human torso with a porker's head. Agatha's detective agency is hired to find the killer....but the criminals want them off the case. Not the best Agatha Raisin mytery. 2.5 stars.

Percival Constantine (percivalconstantine) Right now I'm reading Sinister by Jana DeLeon.

Sinister

It's the second book in her Shaye Archer PI series. I really dug Malevolent, the first book. Haven't had as much time to keep up with reading lately though, but so far I'm enjoying this one.

Back into crime fiction, last night I stayed up around the clock finishing two novels by French author Frederic Dard, brought back into print by Pushkin Vertigo.

Crush, and Bird in a Cage. I really liked the first one and loved the second.

Barbara (cinnabarb) | 10022 comments I finished The Minor Adjustment Beauty Salon The Minor Adjustment Beauty Salon (No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency, #14) by Alexander McCall Smith by Alexander McCall Smith.

In this addition to the series Mma Ramotswe tackles two cases while her associate, Mma Makuski, takes off for maternity leave. As usual, the book is more about the characters than the cases. An enjoyable story about Botswana, human nature, and friendship. 3.5 stars

Jill H. (bucs1960) Just completed A Place of Execution by Val McDermid. It was a dandy with a great twist ending. I blow hot and cold about her work....sometimes it is engrossing and other times you just want it to be over. But I would certainly recommend this book.
