It is really a good book. I had to put it down for now, but I'll be finishing it tonight, and I think the film is on tonight's dinner menu.

Barbara (cinnabarb) | 10022 comments I finished Nine Lives to Die Nine Lives to Die ( Mrs. Murphy #23) by Rita Mae Brown by Rita Mae Brown.

"Harry" Haristeen and her friends are helping local charities in Crozet, Virginia distribute goods to the poor during Christmas season. Soon enough two men are murdered and a long dead skeleton is unearthed. Like Brown's last few books this is more about a 'cause' (the needy) than a cozy mystery should be. 2.5 stars.

Iza Brekilien (izabrekilien) I finished reading Speaking in Bones (Temperance Brennan, #18) by Kathy Reichs , and even if I didn't love it as much as I usually do, I still very much liked it. I always learn news things with this series.
Then I read (devoured) Touch & Go (Tessa Leoni, #2) by Lisa Gardner and am dying to finish work so I can devour the next in the series, Crash & Burn (Tessa Leoni, #3) by Lisa Gardner . Lisa Gardner is very quickly becoming on of my favorite suspense authors :)

Barbara (cinnabarb) | 10022 comments I finished Far From True Far From True (Promise Falls Trilogy, #2) by Linwood Barclay by Linwood Barclay.

This is the second book in the "Promise Falls Trilogy." While crimes from book one are still unresolved another disaster is added in this book. The screen of a drive in movie theater is blown up and four people are killed. Detective Barry Duckworth is on the job....as is P.I. Cal Weaver. The book is a page turner. 3.5 stars.

Sean Peters | 155 comments Ghost Target (Ryan Drake #6) by Will Jordan

Thanks Net Galley, and the author , and of course the publisher.

A dark, desperate and twisted battle for survival – Absolutely brilliant.

Thanks for auto-approving me to all your books, especially with a BRILLIANT BOOK like this from Will Jordan.

From Marseille to Islamabad at breakneck pace… it’s kill or be killed for Ryan Drake and his team

Ryan Drake, once a decorated field operative, is now wanted for treason. On the run from the CIA’s corrupt Deputy Director Marcus Cain, he has spent the past six months in a remote French safehouse. Drake’s former life seems to be behind him, but the uneasy peace is shattered when Cain moves against him with startling force.

Meanwhile, the war in Afghanistan is faltering in the wake of a devastating suicide attack. Cain though has a plan to find and destroy al-Qaeda’s top commanders. And nobody will stand in his way.

Backed into a corner, Drake turns to the deadly but unpredictable Anya – once Cain’s most promising agent, now his most bitter enemy. With tensions running high and their uneasy alliance threatening to tear itself apart, Drake’s hastily assembled team travels to Pakistan to intercept Cain.

With the fate of the War on Terror hanging in the balance, loyalties are tested and scores settled, as Drake embarks on the fight of his life. Only one side will survive…

This story is full of intrigue, double crossing, treason, fighting and a occasional dash of romance, terrific pace to this book, In fact this book really did remind me of many action books I have read from James Bond to Jason Bourne, only 'Ghost Target' is better.

Tremendous strong leading characters, and the return of another great character from previous a book, compelling, thrilling, enormously entertaining, action packed thriller.

From the bestselling author of Black List and Deception Game, Ghost Target is the sixth Ryan Drake thriller, and an incredible tale of deception, desperation, and ultimate betrayal.

All I can say is "I cannot wait for number seven !!

Five stars as this author matches my favourites of Tom Wood, David Baldacci, Mark Dawson, Mark Greaney.

Well I will be catching up on my sleep now, after quite a few late, late nights.

Barbara (cinnabarb) | 10022 comments I finished Dear Mr. M Dear Mr. M by Herman Koch by Herman Koch

This literary suspense novel is about an author, Mr. M, whose
neighbor is spying on him. This may be connected to the fact that Mr. M's most successful book - released 40 years ago - was based on a true life occurence in which a teen couple was accused of killing their teacher. The book plods a little but held my attention. 3.5 stars

Jess McDonald (jessbymyshelf) | 26 comments Happy Thursday!

I'm currently reading one of the groups recent reads, "The Forgotten girls" by Alexa Steele...I'm sooo struggling with it. Although it has details that most readers crave, it seems like it's too detail oriented, which makes the reader lose focus on the main idea, in turn seems quite boring. I'm only 1/4 of the way in so I'm trying to give it a chance.

For those of you in the group, since it was a poll winner, does it get better? Is the series even worth my time, I just can't dive into the characters like usually do.

This is the 20th book in the Meg Lanslow series. Meg is a wife, mother, blacksmith, amateur sleuth, and assistant to the mayor. In this book Meg's twin sons are playing summer baseball and a man connected with the league is murdered. A good light mystery. 3 stars.

This is the last book in Liu's science fiction trilogy. In this book the human race is in deadly peril and scientists try to devise clever methods to save it. The entire trilogy is excellent and this book is the best of the bunch. Highly recommended to sci-fi fans.
