I'm Currently Reading... 2016
For me it depends on if the book is to be used for a challenge, I'm less likely to dnf it. It also sometimes depends on the length. Somtimes it's easier to finish even a book you don't really like if it's only about 200 pages. whereas if it was a 400+ pages books, I'll be more likely to put it down. I rarely dnf a book though. Partly lucky picks and then partly because I often find at least some parts of a book to be interesting enough for me to continue.
I think I can count my finished 1 star rated books on 1-2 hands.
Since Goodreads and my friends, I don't read many that I don't finish anymore.I just finished True Deceptions
by Veronica Forand, a fantastic new author.

Loving all three of them so far."
You're reading three of my favorite series. Enjoy!
Rosemarie wrote: "How many pages in a book do you read before calling it quits? or do you read the whole thing hoping it will get better."I'll usually give a book 50-100 pages. If it hasn't caught my interest by then, it probably won't. I don't DNF very often, but I don't feel bad when I do it.
Rosemarie wrote: "How many pages in a book do you read before calling it quits? or do you read the whole thing hoping it will get better."It's rare I stop reading a novel if I'm more than 30% in, but I will skim if it's really having a hard time holding my attention. Complete drops I can count them on one hand in the last 4 years. But there have been a few, one this year bored me to tears practically and I read the last few pages just to see if the ending was worth finishing it... ended on a freaking cliff hanger... dropped it like a hot potato.
Reading Garden of Lies because I refuse to buy the audio... (no specials on it) and the library doesn't have it either. The summary looks good, less about the paranormal which I don't mind.. but her last few books haven't been quite as good so I'm happy she's going back to a 19th century mystery/romance.
Rosemarie wrote: "How many pages in a book do you read before calling it quits? or do you read the whole thing hoping it will get better."Depends on the book Rosemarie, for me. If I cannot get into a book within at least 50 pages, I may put it down. Depends though.
Rosemarie wrote: "How many pages in a book do you read before calling it quits? or do you read the whole thing hoping it will get better."Rare for me to give up on a book (only one dnf). Hope springs eternal:)
I'm now reading Why Mermaids Sing by C.S. Harris, Sebastian St. Cyr #3, and listening to Unlawful Contact by Pamela Clare, I-Team #3.
Rosemarie wrote: "How many pages in a book do you read before calling it quits? or do you read the whole thing hoping it will get better."50 pages is my cut off. If it hasn't grabbed me by then, it isn't going to and there are far too many good books out there to waste time on one I'm not enjoying.
Lauren wrote: " there are far too many good books out there to waste time on one I'm not enjoying. "I completely agree with this, Lauren!
I dump it pretty quickly unless it's recommended or I paid for it. :-) It doesn't happen that often. If it's recommended and I set it down, I'll come back a second time to try again when I may be more in the mood for it.

I agree.
I'm reading
. This book not only encompasses the Sookie world but also the Harper Connelly series. Love that.

I think I've been luckier in my choices... and it's partially because I prefer to finish a book once started... it's like my own personal challenge. Though I definitely admit to skimming.
Carolyn F. wrote: "I'm reading

I finished:
My least favorite of the 4 books was Splintered. Not that it was bad, it just wasn't as great as I'd hoped for. The other 3 I really enjoyed.
Now I'm reading:
This week I read "High Stakes" by Chloe Neill. It is a novella in
Kicking It. My review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Then I read (and loved)
Over the Edge by Suzanne Brockmann. This series just gets better and better. My review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Troubleshooters is one of my favorite series. I am currently reading Scorched
by Laura Griffin, #6 in the Tracers series, another of my favorite series.
still reading-Marine corporal Rick Sudder is home early from Iraq--his tour ended abruptly on the battlefield.
and starting
the character, Lisbeth Wainwright’s compelling tale of coming-of-age in antebellum Virginia. Born to white plantation owners but raised by her enslaved black wet nurse, Mattie, Lisbeth’s childhood unfolds on the line between two very different worlds.
I finished
Both Dragonfly and Sin Eater's Daughter were 3 star reads for me. They were OK, but nothing stood out particularly. I think especially Dragonfly had the potential to become really great, as the writing and the characters were really good. It's just that the pace of the story was a little slow and the plot too predictable at times.
I loved By a Thread however. I think that Gin is the type of character you hate or love. I really love her as a heroine. She doesn't pretend to be more than she is. This book got a 5 star rating for me.
Now I'm reading:
has been postponing it for a while, but now I'm ready to start tackle this series.
I really found the first one in this book great. Hopefully this would be just as good.
Interesting books, Anita. Some I've considered. I have read a lot of the Temperance series, but not any of the others.
Lisa Kay wrote: "Interesting books, Anita. Some I've considered. Midnight Liaisons are more the PNR genre, but also really quick reads.
Sexy SEAL series that shows real life situations. TRUE BLUE SEALS: ZAK
by Sharon Hamilton.My Review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
The Duke's Holiday
, enjoying it. Don't let the title throw you... this is not a HOLIDAY romance. Holiday in this case is the European's word for Vacation. Very quirky group of characters, definitely not your run of the mill balls and London intrigue historical.
Modern Irish romantic suspense Final Target
by Zara KeaneMy Review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
This week I read
Show No Fear by Marliss Melton. Another good addition to the Navy SEALs Team Twelve series. My review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I also read
Tangled Up In You by Rachel Gibson. This is an enjoyable contemporary romance which is part of both Gibson's Truly, Idaho series and her Writer Friends series. My review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I finished listening to
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by J.K. Rowling. I listened to this book on my commute to work and thoroughly enjoyed it. The story is fantastic and the narration by Jim Dale is top-notch. This book made me wish I could just keep driving and driving. My review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Just finished
via audio yesterday (it was a re-read via my ears). Also in the middle of
and
and plugging away at
(since January)...
...and now
- which is
... only in Italian.Also
and
for workout...which I've been slipping with while on vacation.
Lisa Kay wrote: "Yes, Robin. Love a good jungle setting book."Plane crash survivors (Up Close and Dangerous) are another favorite.
I'm reading
which is great, I love this author romantic suspense.I finished listening to
. I found this and #1 in the series on audio at my elibrary and downloaded and listened to them back to back. It's fun and unique. I'm going to give it a few days and then listen to #3 and #4.
I was getting bored picking up a lot of clunkers. Therefore, I borrowed a book from the Huxtable series.
by Mary BaloghIn the past I have read 3 out of the 5 part series. :-)
I finished:
I loved Onyx, I think I'm going to really love this series. I enjoy the banter between Daemon and Katy. Really looking forward to the next book.
Insurgent was a 3 star read for me. My overall opinion is that it was a good book, but I don't like the MC.
Now I'm reading:
which I'm not sure if I really like. I wasn't so over the moon over the first one either, even though it seems I'm in the minority there. Guess I was expecting too much.
It seems to be a quick read, in a gossipy town. Haven't really made my decision with this book yet.
I started it the other day, and can't seem to put it down when I first start reading it. Such an inspirational story. I can relate to so many things in this book. I'm almost certain that this book will get 5 stars from me. Right now I can't see what will make me change that.
I've had this on hiatus for a while because of a team challenge where I couldn't make it fit because I'd started it too soon. Now I'm back to it, and as usual I'm enjoying the mysteries of Department Q.

oopps were we supposed to read it together ?
BTW, when I click on the series link on that book's Home Page, it says it isn't a valid link. Do you get the same thing? If so, I'll tell the librarians.
Lisa Kay wrote: "Didn't we read the others together, ShoSho?"I remember reading #1 together but the rest ... my memory is crap!

It depends if it's a series and author I've loved before I'll make myself finish it even if i have yo skip here and there! But if its a new author or an author I've had bad experience with, I usually quit betwek %10-%25.
