Bea I have a small book that I have been wanting to read, but it did not meet the criteria for page count for most of my challenges. I will read The Shawl here.

message 3: by Carmen (new)

Carmen | 16 comments My copy of Kafka's The Metamorphosis is 98 pages.

message 4: by Allie (new)

Allie (allieeveryday) Vonnegut's The Big Trip Up Yonder, which is listed on Goodreads as 22 pages. But I might also read We Should All Be Feminists, which is 49.

message 5: by Rainey (last edited Jan 04, 2016 09:11AM) (new)

Rainey | 241 comments My pick will either be The Secret Life of Walter Mitty or Darkness Visible: A Memoir of Madness, which would also work for #24 or The Bombay Liaison

I have completed 2 books for this challenge. Darkness Visible and The Bombay Liaison.

3/24 tasks completed.

message 6: by Cheryl (last edited Aug 13, 2016 10:14AM) (new)

Cheryl Hager (cheryl_is_reading) | 73 comments I am going to read The Giver or A Room with a View.

Seems I have a habit of picking books off premade lists without verifying their accuracy.

I'm on the lookout for something else now..
Ok. I am going to read Candide by Voltaire or The Yellow Wall-Paper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman.

I ended up reading The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde instead.

message 7: by [deleted user] (new)

I've never read Animal Farm(!). Looks like the perfect opportunity to correct this. :)

message 8: by Karin (last edited Dec 19, 2015 02:30PM) (new)

Karin (8littlepaws) | 119 comments Signs Preceding the End of the World is technically under 100 pages. I have this book on my shelves, and while the page count is over 100, the story starts on page 11 and ends on page 107 or 108 I think. The rest of the pages are acknowledgements/translator's note etc. So I'll count that book towards this.

message 9: by Elle (new)

Elle (elleay) | 68 comments The Little Prince is one of those classic books I never read and has been sitting on many manifestations of my TBR list for quite some time. Perfect time to check this one off.

message 10: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn (kathrynlively) | 63 comments Thought I'd try something out of my wheelhouse. Common Sense by Thomas Paine.

May | 15 comments Elle wrote: "The Little Prince is one of those classic books I never read and has been sitting on many manifestations of my TBR list for quite some time. Perfect time to check this one off."

I really hope you love this one! I have a quote from it tattooed on myself, that's how important this book was to me. :)

message 12: by Annie (new)

Annie (asoftskeleton) | 42 comments Hm...probably Binti since it's just been hanging out on my kindle forever.

message 13: by Matthew (new)

Matthew Davis | 1 comments I was planning of reading The Art of War. I may change this though...

I picked up the Irish translation (An Prionsa Beag) a few years back and never got around to it, so I'll be joining you.

The Little Prince is one of the few books I reread ever since reading it in high school French (these days, I read it in English). I hope you enjoy it.

For this challenge, I will read The Art of War or revisit The Prince, which I didn't really read in college.

message 16: by [deleted user] (new)

The Little Prince is perfect for this :)

message 17: by Bea (new)

Bea Kathryn wrote: "Thought I'd try something out of my wheelhouse. Common Sense by Thomas Paine."

Kathryn, I am reading that book for another group this time. I was inspired by reading John Adams this year. Very interesting times.

message 18: by Bea (new)

Bea Matthew wrote: "I was planning of reading The Art of War. I may change this though..."

I found myself thinking about the wars in Afghanistan and Iran and America's actions in those countries while reading this. Seems very pertinent even though it was written about a thousand years ago.

message 19: by Laura (new)

Laura (liacobet) | 37 comments Ooo! There are SO great choices, but I am going to go with The Old Man and the Sea.

If I have time I'd like to also read Animal Farm and revisit The Yellow Wallpaper and Other Stories.

message 20: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (lisasyarns) Oliver Sack's new book would work for this as it's 64 pages long. Gratitude

message 21: by Karen (new)

Karen Foster (karenfoster) 84, Charing Cross Road by Helene Hanff, 97 pages

message 22: by Megnews (new)

Megnews | 12 comments I'm glad you posted Darkness Visible, Rainey. I think I'm going to read that for this challenge.

message 23: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Old | 1 comments Karen wrote: "84, Charing Cross Road by Helene Hanff, 97 pages"

I read this one a few years ago and absolutely loved it. I hope you enjoy it!

message 24: by Bobby (last edited Jan 06, 2016 09:32PM) (new)

Bobby | 197 comments I can't remember whether I've ever read The Elements of Style from beginning to end, so I plan to do that this year. There are plenty of other choices, though, and because they are so short I may end up reading several.

message 25: by Rokkan (new)

Rokkan (rokk) | 35 comments Was going to use How To Be Dead for my horror book, but I'm trying not to double up, and at 83 pages it's a winner here.

message 26: by Maureen (new)

Maureen (maureencean) Will go with Notes from Underground by Fyodor Dostoyevsky as it is already on my kindle.

message 27: by Janet (new)

Janet I am going to read 84, Charing Cross Road. Loved The Guernsey Literary and Potato Pie Society, and this is written in the same epistolary style.

message 28: by Daena (new)

Daena | 23 comments Going with 84, Charing Cross Road, which will be a great companion to the book that was published in the decade I was born slot.

message 29: by Lauren (new)

Just finished that today and enjoyed it! Good choice.

message 31: by Caitlin (last edited Jan 01, 2016 09:32AM) (new)

message 32: by Brenna (new)

message 34: by Karin (new)

Karin (8littlepaws) | 119 comments Thought that today was a perfect day to kick off this challenge and read for this category, I read Signs Preceding The End Of The World by Yuri Herrera and it was outstanding!

message 35: by Kristi (new)

Kristi | 2 comments Lisa wrote: "Oliver Sack's new book would work for this as it's 64 pages long. Gratitude"

Just what I was going to suggest! I read it last year so I won't count it on this list, but I would definitely recommend it.

We Should All Be Feminists is EXCELLENT, I highly recommend it.

message 37: by Jo (new)

Jo (allweatherreader) | 105 comments Another excited vote for We Should All Be Feminists here, too, for everyone deciding. The TED talk it's from is worth a watch too.

I WAS going to read How the Marquis Got His Coat Back, but I completed this task by accident yesterday; my in-laws have been to Bath for New Year and they bought me a present in the Jane Austen Centre: The History Of England. I read it as soon as they gave it to me so that's that!

message 38: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (bookwormmichelled) I just read for my book under 100 pages Late in the Day, a new volume of poetry by Ursula LeGuin. The poems were delightful, and there are also two essays in back, one which is a very perceptive explanation of form in poetry and why to use it. Loved it, great start to my 2016 challenge!

message 39: by Violet (new)

Violet (trillian8690) | 1 comments I just re-read "Animal Farm" to complete this task. There are appendices and an introduction, but the story in itself totals to 93 pages.

message 40: by Leanne (new)

Leanne (littlebunnylibrary) | 23 comments I am going with "The Grownup" by Gillian Flynn for this - it is 80 pages long.

message 41: by Gwen S. (last edited Jan 07, 2016 06:55AM) (new)

Gwen S. (gwen1629) I read "Learn How to Crochet Quick and Easy" by Amy Wright. It was 78 pages, but I am also planning on reading "We Should All Be Feminist" later on in the month. The book with incredible visuals provided step by step instructions on many basic and more advanced crocheting stitches, gauges, concepts, pattern reading, and even hook holding options. Great for a beginner or as a review source. I gave this book 4.5*****
Task completed. ✅

Gwen... 1/ 11.

message 42: by Rainey (new)

Rainey | 241 comments I have completed this task as well. I read 2 books Darkness Visible: A Memoir of Madness which I might count towards task 24. I also read The Bombay Liaison (is grateful) 1/24

message 43: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Carter (ephemeragrrl) | 48 comments Annie wrote: "Hm...probably Binti since it's just been hanging out on my kindle forever."
Ooh that's in my TBR too. SORTED

message 44: by sarah (new)

message 45: by Danielle (new)

Danielle | 71 comments Would Cruel Crown count for this? It is actually over 100 pages (around 140), but it is made up of two novellas that were originally e-published separately that are under 100 pages. So could I count either Queen Song or Steel Scars?

message 46: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Carter (ephemeragrrl) | 48 comments Read Binti today, it's excellent, definitely recommend it and I'll have to read more of Nnedi's work

message 47: by Lissa Mascio (new)

Lissa Mascio | 19 comments I just read The Doors of Perception by Aldous Huxley today - 79 pages! A very interesting foray into the mind of an intellectual on mescalin. If you were born in the 1950s it could also count for Task #8.

message 48: by Veronica (new)

Veronica I'm reading The Little Prince for this task.

message 49: by Carol (new)

Carol (peppersgirl) | 25 comments I'm a Children's Librarian so I read a lot of books under a hundred pages with the kids. I picked Bird Cat Dog by Lee Nordling for this task because it was the first book I read this year that was under 100 pages. Its a very cool wordless graphic novel for kids that teaches point of view. I highly recommend! I'm using the sequel Fishfishfish for my non-superhero graphic novel.

message 50: by Lucy (new)

Lucy | 13 comments Done! I read Raven Girl by Audrey Niffenegger. It's 80 pages long and I gave it four stars.
