We are on Space 20.
This means we can read #2 in a series, a standalone or the alternate which is a book by an author starting with G.
All reviews must be in before we can roll on Friday, May 9th.

My other choices are:

So happy to be joining you. I am going to list a book that I just finished reading on May 3rd. It will fit into the requirements for this week.
Looking forward to Friday's roll!

Hmmmmm...I could make this work...changing my book!!! lol

Mythos Academy #2
read 5/6/14 - 4♥
This is a fun young adult paranormal series. I had to read the first book for a different challenge and immediately went on to read the second one. I really like the main character of Gwen because she reminds me a little bit of me in high school, more of an observer and not popular, but she has paranormal powers.

review: this book is about a bully who befriends a kid who is special needs. he just moved to the area and decided that if he was friends with this bully people would leave him alone.
little did they both know that they needed each other. this is a story about how a bully comes to terms with himself, and decides it is time to make a change and helps his new friend find himself

Review: A really beautiful book by Heyer. It has a slow romance with the characters written really well. I'm glad there are still a lot of Heyer books that I've yet to read.

Thanks.

You can read #2, #9, #29 in a series. The alternate is a book from this list: May-Read There are 141 pgs on this list, so there is a good chance you can find something you want to read if you don't have a series book.
Another way to see if a book is on the list is to go to the page for the book you want to read and look at Top shelves link to the left and see if anyone has shelved it as 'may-read'.

I will read a book found on May-read.

Space 29 A Case of Possession #2 of the A Charm of Magpies Series 159 pages/GR

Sorry, feel asleep at around 5:30 last night...back in about an hour to post review!!! ugh I hate being sick...stupid trees...and flowers...and grass...!!!!

Review: Let me start by saying...I love this series, and I hate that it will be next year before the next story is released! grrrr
As for this story, it was a perfect follow up with the last two (the last one was a short story) and although at times it was a little "gross"...which is NOT my favorite thing...it was, as always, well written...full of mystery...magical battles...and of course...true love!!!

This series grows on me more and more I think. In this book there is a terrorist group blowing up historic buildings in NY. They have Greek mythological names and Eve has to figure out who is behind it before the city is destroyed. Also, the sexual tension between Peabody and McNabb finally reaches a boiling point.

ETA: The book is shelved as may-read by 1 person and is on page 19 of the top shelves list for the book.

i will have this done by tomorrow.. it is on the may read list

review: Done with being the world's biggest pushover, Haley decides that things are going to change starting with the aggravating neighbor who has too much charm and not enough restraint. What she didn't expect was to be sucked into his world, but Haley has a game plan and she won't let herself forget just what the bad boy next door is capable of.
The last thing Jason expected was for his little shy neighbor to go Rambo on him over some ruined flowers. After he decides to take her under his wing he can't help but notice that she fits very nicely in his life. Now the only thing left is to convince her that this is anything but a game.

I came across a new copy in my library the other day and I was so tempted to read it. It's just as good as I remember when I first read it. The world building is really good and original. I can't wait to pick up the next book.

You can read #3, #6, #36 in a series. The alternate is a title starting with D.

I will be reading the alternate Title starting with a D

And we have a winner...
Space 39:

Finished 5/21/14 ✮✮✮✮✮
Grab a cold drink and a snack and let me tell you a story...
This is the story of a woman who years ago...swore she was NOT going to get caught up in the J D Robb debacle called The Death Series...she said "The series is to long" (back then there were only 20 or so books)..and "They have the same MCs for every book" (boring she thought)...so she went happily on her way...reading book, after book, after book...until one day she was reading an anthology...one of her favorite authors had a short story in it...so read it she must...so she reads...then she reads the other three stories in the book...no sense in wasting good money on just one of the stories, she thinks...and as she is reading one of the stories, she is enthralled, she is amazed...she is caught "hook, line and sinker" by none other than Eve Dallas and her faithful side-kicks! DARN!!!
So here I am once again reading another Eve Dallas book...and even though I am not reading the series in order (which has lead to the occasional unexpected "reveal")...I find myself, as always...enthralled, amazed and totally won over by these stories and the authors ability to never write a boring book!!!
As for my review...this story will be placed in my "Top Ten" of this series...it has all the elements I love in a great story...mystery (someone killed the husband and his girlfriend-or did they), action, great best friends, murder, hot sex, treason, baby woes, espionage, marriage woes, hot sex...well, you get the picture...all-in-all it was a great kiss-ass book!
I have been trying to finish this series for several years...now I have a reason to actually do it!!!

And another thing - I'm currently sick - mild food poisoning and travelling on the 20th, 21st. I might be a little late with my review.

Space 36

Fifty Shades #3
read 5/17/14 - 3.5♥
I was not as enamored of this series as many people were. I thought it was interesting and the background story of who was trying to get them kept me reading more than the romance between the 2 main characters. I did like the interactions between Grey and Ana and that even though he is so protective, he still gives in to her. I don't think the twist with how the bad guy was connected to Grey as well as Ana was really necessary to the story.

review: this is a crappy book about someone going thru divorce. It was a bunch of emails, phone calls, and rants dictated thru a lawyer. Don't get me wrong there are parts of this book that made me laugh. Then the rest of the book i was like, Did someone really put money into making this a book? wouldn't recommend to anyone!

Condensed version:
- World Building was good. It wasn't infodumped.
- Relation between Verity and Dominic wasn't exciting; it was a little shallow. But the conflict between them is very real. I hope it is fleshed out satisfactorily.
- A good first-in-a-series book. I'll definitely pick up the next book in the series.

We can read #4, #44 in a series or the alternate is an author starting with L
I am taking volunteers to roll next week:) Maybe we can start getting 11s or 12s that way.

Sorry, changing my book...I will be reading...

Review:✮✮✮✮✮ Well, since I couldn't seem to be bothered to go to sleep last night...I decided to read my book...and what an interesting book it turned out to be!!! Whoever said...love conquers all...was right when it comes to this story...from an abusive father to fighting his way to a better life and the love of his life...George had his hands full. But his love for Kenny makes him see that he needs to find peace and healing if he is ever going to have a full and loving relationship! As always, I loved the "family" feel of the book...showing us that family doesn't always have to be the one we are born into...although sometimes we are lucky enough to have both!

Sisters of the Moon #4
read 5/25/14 - 3 stars
I think I liked the last book better. This book is back with the focus on Camille. Lots of creatures are causing havoc by using newly discovered portals and she must fight them off while searching for the next seal. This is a long ongoing battle among all the books, but it does get boring at times. Camille does get a interesting new artifact to help her fight and several of the bad guys are trying to get it away from her.
What I liked about this book is that the series appears to focus on just one sister with each book. I think it would drive me nuts if the books switched between them in all books and then I wouldn't continue the series. (view spoiler)
This series is interesting enough for me to read when I need a book for a challenge, but I am not going to run out and get the next book as soon as I finish one.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

I've heard so much about Mercedes Lackey that I was fairly excited to start this book. For the most part, I really liked the book but for some niggles - this book has more tell than show. That sort of omniscient narration did throw me off once in a while. THe world building was good and so were the characters. The MC was sort of Mary Sue ish and TSTL alternatively. I'll definitely be checking out the next book.

That's all right, I haven't checked until today anyway and I always check to make sure I have the right post by your name so I would have seen the changed book.

I love her Valdemar books but it has been awhile since I have read them. This world has several series set in it. I started reading the series as I found them. Then I went back and used the timeline I found in one of the books and read the series in chronological order instead of published order.
