Gretchen, have you read the Cadfael books before? I just love them, but have prohibited myself from rereading them for this challenge.
I have not read the Cadfael books before. I wasn't overly impressed with the first novel but I rarely am blown away by the first book in any series. I like the Medieval Mysteries by Priscilla Royal, which take place at relatively the same time and Cadfael just didn't seem to match up. I might try the second book anyway. I read the first on my kindle and for some reason I just don't seem to enjoy books on my kindle as much as paper copies.
Gretchen wrote: "I read the first on my kindle and for some reason I just don't seem to enjoy books on my kindle as much as paper copies."That's the case with me too, Gretchen, with very few exceptions. I have no idea why.

Gretchen, I really like the Pliny series. Pliny and Tacitus are such likable characters. I've read 1-3 and am planning to read 4 and 5 for this challenge.
I was not a big fan of Pliny after the first novel but someone convinced me to stick with them. He was just a tad to stuck up for my taste. He has developed through the books and I look forward to seeing what happens as he grows.
I just finished The Case of the Gilded Fly , the first in the Genvase Fen series by Edmund Crispin. I enjoyed the witty repartee, the setting and the characters. I was annoyed that Fen thought the narrator (and thus the reader) should have been able to identify the murderer "easily" and refused to name him/her. I plan to read the next in the series, prepping for an April read of the third. One of the surprises in this book was finding that Fen had a sensible wife and small child; I thought him a disheveled bachelor.Original post (#8): https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

OK, I've updated the Readerboard with your totals Susan and Paisley.
As you progress with the challenge, can you please create a new post containing the latest book you've completed and include a link back to your original post. It makes it easier to track that way. Thanks.

I enjoyed it, Lauren. It's like the other books in that the mystery aspect isn't the strongest but I find Lucy and Major Kurland amusing so that's what keeps me coming back. They've all been solid three star books for me in that regard. There will be a fourth book coming out in the fall (September, I think), Death Comes to the Fair - per the author's FB page.

Fantastic!
I also keep coming back for the relationship between Lucy and the Major.
