Amber Martingale I don't. Not long term, anyway. I may have a daily plan, but that's it. Right now, for example, my plan is to enjoy my YouTube playlist which is currently on: 【金曲欣赏】中国好歌曲第二季《杭盖》杭盖乐队丨CCTV: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=THltd...

The band is called Hanggai and they're from Mongolia.

message 9853: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale Might actually be cooler if we knew what they were singing?

I actually DO have plans this summer. We are going to a wedding in a California (near Sacramento) in June and then we are also going to drive to Portland (Oregon) in mid-July to see an opera.

Christine Hatfield (christinesbookshelves) | 5526 comments Yeah tell me about it but I would laugh so hard watching that video of them singing lol

Very cool. I'm looking forward to it. Little worried about my dog. She has to be boarded and she's just turned 19!

That's a long drive to an opera. Must be good !

message 9861: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) Not that long. I live in eastern Washington State. So, I have to go to either Seattle (Washington) or Portland (Oregon) to see an opera.

Every year for my birthday I pick an opera to see. This year Seattle had a good lineup (Porgy & Bess, Aida, Carmen), but when I saw that Portland was putting on La Cenerentola (Cinderella) I couldn't refuse.

Composed by Rossini, it is my favorite opera. I've never seen it live and I just love the music. It is a very happy and joyful opera.

Christine Hatfield (christinesbookshelves) | 5526 comments I’ve never been to an opera before

message 9863: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) My dad loved opera and we used to watch the Met when they were on PBS or he would order operas from Amazon. I miss him dreadfully. (He died from throat cancer in 2013.)

Opera is like theater with music. Some of them have downright strange plots.

message 9864: by Sandy (new)

Sandy | 188 comments i can only seem to get into the operas that are in English - the others - just don't do it for me. Phantom of the Opera - Awesome!

I think we talked about your love of opera when I read Bel Canto. I"m with Sandy, but most foreign operas (which is not many to be sure) have subtitles otherwise I'd go mad! I flipped through the video and it looked like it had humorous bits-the mustached guy singing a fast clipped pace

i HAVE. iT'S KIDA FUN. oF COURSE, i WAS IN THIRD GRADE AT THE TIME... . And my teacher took me to see it. Community theater style production.

Sorry. Accidentally put the caps lock on.

The opera I saw was Gian Carlo Menotti's English language Christmas opera Amahl and the Night Visitors.

Despite it's title, The Phantom of the Opera, is NOT an opera. It's simply a musical. https://dallasopera.org/learn/opera101/

Well spent most of today watching the Royal Wedding...

A great day for the UK and of course Duke And Duchess of Sussex.

New titles, and a lovely day in Windsor...

D.B. Woodling | 232 comments Hope you are all enjoying warmer weather now. (It seems Spring skipped the Midwest!) Just had to check in with the most enjoyable Goodreads Group. Despite avoiding social media while I attempt the completion of my latest book, I find that after losing two very close friends over the last few months, I can't seem to find the motivation. So . . . just popped in to say hello. I've missed you all. Have a great summer!

Lorrea - WhatChaReadin'? (whatchatreadin) Hey Thriller fans! We have a couple of people who are interested in doing BookPals this summer. If you are interested, there is a thread under BookPals to sign up. I hope we can get enough people to get this started back up again.

**That is summer here in the Northern Hemisphere** June, July, & August

message 9874: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale It feels like early summer already here in Belleville, D.B.

message 9875: by Sandy (new)

Sandy | 188 comments June 1 and graduations have started. I sat outside in a grad ceremony - got sunburned an very hot. What happened to spring is right!!! not that I am complaining exactly after the cold cold winter we had. I felt great but really really amazingly hot.

D.B. Woodling | 232 comments Did anyone else assume the author (A.J. Finn) of The Woman in the Window a female?

message 9892: by Amber (last edited Jun 05, 2018 11:16AM) (new)

Amber Martingale I can't use Chrome and still listen to my YouTube playlists, they aren't compatible, so switching browsers wouldn't work for me. Re: the suggestion I switch browswers if my problems with my reading challenge weren't fixed.

Amber (amberterminatorofgoodreads) | 694 comments Hey all. Hope ya'll have a great day of reading for pleasure. Sorry I've been MIA here. Just been busy reading and moderating my own book club on here and stuff. Going to be reading some later tonight after I get back from a Free Christian concert in town later. I hope everyone has a great day of reading and everything.

BTW, did ya'll get that weird spam notification Goodreads sent everyone? I had to block the person they advertised cuz it was an advertisement for an author's book club and book.

message 9894: by Christine (new)

Christine Hatfield (christinesbookshelves) | 5526 comments D.B. i thought A.J. Finn was a female writer and Amber I hope everything is going good with you

Amber (amberterminatorofgoodreads) | 694 comments Hey Christine, its great. Just thought that spam notification from goodreads today was weird. But am just keeping busy running RFP and reading and stuff.
