November Challenge

The Department of Defense designates November as the "Month of the Military Family" to honor the sacrifices these families make, so that's our theme for this month. In addition to your regular reads, read one book that deals with a family member of someone serving in the military. It doesn't have to be the main plot line.

How many books will you read this month?

I am going to attempt 12 books this month. I have really been neglecting my reading lately, but now I should have more time for my favorite hobby. :0)

At least 1 will have a military theme.

I will commit to 15 as I have a list of books I want to finish this calendar year. Yes it is longer but it gets dark early now and darkness is usually a trigger for me to read. :)

I think there is a book or two which has a character that served in the military.

I'm going to take the easy way out and probably read Meet Molly: An American Girl or one of her other books lol.

I actually don't have one. It's been way too long since I've read a book that I just fell in love with. It's really frustrating me.

Most of the books I read in November were awesome! Favourites were Wench which I loved, Almanac of the Dead by Leslie Marmon Silko and Annie John, the first book I've read by Jamaica Kincaid and it will not be the last! I also really enjoyed a short fabular tale The Hen Who Dreamed She Could Fly by Korean author Sun-mi Hwang

Yes, I too loved The Hen Who Dreamed She Could Fly. It was so delightful.

I'm with Zanna on this one, Wench was a favorite. The other books were okay but didn't remarkably stand out.

I wish I could help you but not sure if I know the solution. I think the next book you are going to fall in love with is probably a book that you least suspected would be the one.

If you have the time I would go to the library and just browse and pick up books that look like you might like to read. I would bring home a bunch and see what you like - you do not like put it down.

Also you can ask the librarians for suggestions - especially if there is a librarian on duty when you go that is RA (reader's advisory) expert she will ask what you love about a book and what you dislike and be able to pick up key words that should give you a couple of good suggestions.
