Lit_With_Britt (brocmo1) -What are you reading this week?

Dark Places by Gillian Flynn

-Was it a book you deleted from your 2015 reading challenge plan or just a book from your reading plan?

This is my first time doing a challenge plan. This book has just been on my reading list for awhile and I want to read it before the movie comes out.

-Is there another 2015 book you'll try to read this year?

Yes! The Shadow of The Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon. Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell. The Peach Keeper by Sarah Addison Allen.

message 52: by Lit_With_Britt (new)

Lit_With_Britt (brocmo1) ** okay so I'm behind! I didn't realize Dark Places, the movie had already been released!! Oh well! At least now I can watch it after I complete the book!!

Inside of a Dog: What Dogs See, Smell, and Know by Alexandra Horowitz

Was it a book you deleted from your 2015 Reading Challenge plan or just a book from your reading list?
This was just a book from my reading list. I bought it at an airport at the end of 2014, but never ended up reading it.

Is there another 2015 book you'll try to read this year?
I'm sure there is! I have a lot of books on my bookshelf that I have never read, so hopefully I can get them in this year!

Cujo

Was it a book from your 2015 Reading Challenge or just a book from your reading list?
It was just a book from my reading list. I'm a big Stephen King fan an: have been going back a rereading all his works on chronological order. I wanted to get to this one last year but didn't. This year I tried to fit a few more SK novels into my challenge so I could kill two birds with one stone.

Is there another 2015 book you will try to read this year?
No, this is the only book that I had intended to read last year but didn't.

Champion by Marie Lu (I will finish this today, actually - hehe)
Was it a book you deleted from your 2015 Reading Challenge plan or just a book from your reading list?
It was on my reading read since forever. I wanted to read it last year too but I didn't get the chance to do so.
Is there another 2015 book you'll try to read this year?
Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare for sure and a few others.

Karen Rashid Progress Post:
- What are you reading this week?
A Secret Kept A Secret Kept by Tatiana de Rosnay

This is a book that was on my bedside table for most of 2015 (I just joined GoodReads in December so I didn't have a challenge plan from last year). The reason that I didn't pick it up earlier is that so many of my bookclub friends said how they were very disappointed with it compared to the first Rey book they read: Sarah's Key.
- Is there another 2015 book you'll try to read this year?
I also hope to read Gre Iles' Natchez Burning and The Bone Tree this year. I really wanted to read them in the summer but am waiting for my husband to read them first since I bought them for his birthday. Natchez Burning (Penn Cage, #4) by Greg Iles The Bone Tree (Penn Cage #5) by Greg Iles
I am thinking now I may be able to save these for week 22 ( a new to me series) or week 46 (a crime story)

message 57: by Lit_With_Britt (new)

Lit_With_Britt (brocmo1) @Karen. I loved Sarah's Key. I haven't read Secret Kept but it is also in my TBR list. I look forward to hearing if you enjoyed the book.

It is just a book from my reading list. I was actually half way through the book, but I stopped in August of 2015.

- Is there another 2015 book you'll try to read this year?
There's a lot of books from 2015 that are going to carry over into this year, so if I don't get to this book, I'm sure I will have plenty of other options.

A few, I spent last year adding to my TBR and find that I need to trim it down now.

I tried to read it last October, but I got busy and I lost my copy. I have since repurchased the book, and I'm loving it so far!

Is there another 2015 book you'll try to read this year?
Yes! I'm going to be reading

Was it a book you deleted from your 2015 Reading Challenge plan or just a book from your reading list?
Pretty sure that I had this on the list for week 3 a book that became a movie, but I changed it to The Book Thief

message 63: by Kristin (new)

Kristin | 87 comments I only read out of order one time and it was because week 2's book was another book that I was supposed to read for another book club I'm in, but I will be reading in order for the rest of the challenge. However, i will probably be reading two books at a time within a two week period.

- What are you reading this week?

I'm reading The Maze Runner (Maze Runner, #1) by James Dashner by James Dashner
- Was it a book you deleted from your 2015 Reading Challenge plan or just a book from your reading list?

It isn't a book that I deleted. The movie has been out for a while now and I've just been meaning to read this book for quite some time. The movie for the Scorch Trials is coming out soon so I'm trying to get prepared for it!

- Is there another 2015 book you'll try to read this year?

There will be many books that I was supposed to read in 2015 that I will read this year instead.

message 64: by Marta (last edited Jan 02, 2016 10:48PM) (new)

Marta (gezemice) | 859 comments I finished The Brothers Karamazov. I was reading it mostly in 2015. It was the Nov/Dec book for the Goodreads group "Old Books, New Readers", which reads classics. It was not in my 2015 challenge, but I did mean to finish it last year and it slipped into January. So, it supplanted my other planned books.

It was long but it was well worth it! I am still trying to collect my thoughts about it for a review. So many themes, so complex.

There are other books I meant to read last year but did not get to - I will try to slot those onto the challenge or will be side reads. Some are:
To the Lighthouse
Watership Down
The Bell Jar
The Restaurant at the End of the Universe
Carry On
Fatigue Artist
The Secret Garden
Wolf Hall
etc etc etc...

- Is there another 2015 book you'll try to read this year?
Yes, my plan last year was to bring my TBR list to under 500 (which I didn't achieve). That is my goal for this year and to keep my TBR list to under 500.

I'm actually reading two books for this week's topics.
Red Rising and Ready Player One

Was it a book you deleted from your 2015 Reading Challenge plan or just a book from your reading list?
They weren't from my list last year, but they are two books I stumbled upon last year. Ready Player One I actually got in a LootCrate (I think in a 2014 box). As much as I wanted to read them last year I just was not able to fit them in.

Is there another 2015 book you'll try to read this year?
HA! Most of my books this year are ones that I wanted to read last year, so I fit them in where I could.

Just a book from my reading list. I began reading this series in 2015, and never quite made it to the last one.

- Is there another 2015 book you'll try to read this year?
Definitely. With work and then maintaining a social life, I feel like the amount of time I have to read has gone down. It makes me sad, as I love reading. But, there are plenty of books I will hopefully try to read this year that I have had on my list for a long time.

There are quite a few books that I've brought over from last years list that I didn't manage to get around to reading. Emma, Everyday Sexism, A Storm of Swords: Steel and Snow, American Psycho, American Gods, The Black Dahlia, and Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe were all originally on my list for last year and I still wanted to read them, despite not managing to last year.

- Is there another 2015 book you'll try to read this year?
There were many new books that I discovered in 2015 that were added to my TBR list that i would like to read this year. The only other book however to be removed from my planned reading list was Walt Disney: An American Original

Quite a few actually. Luckily I managed to fit them all into the challenge.
Das Haupt der Welt by Rebecca Gablé in german.
Story of O by Pauline Reagé that a friend of mine recommended.
Alan Turing: The Enigma by Andrew Hodges where I made it through a quarter of the book so far, but it's just so freaking long.
Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë Where I also made it about halfway through.
The Help by Kathryn Stockett which I desperately wanted to read but just didn't have the time for.
And last but not least MaddAdam by Margaret Atwood that just has to wait for a few weeks longer.

What are you reading this week?

The Mission by Bob Mayer/Robert Doherty

Was it a book you deleted from your 2015 Reading Challenge plan or just a book from your reading list?

I started reading it last year but got stuck so am trying again. I read the first two in the series and enjoyed them, but this one isn't nearly as good. Too much military waffle. It also doesn't help that the kindle version is missing a lot of the line spaces where the story switches from one set of characters to another, which makes it confusing for a second or two until you realise you've switched!

Is there another 2015 book you'll try to read this year?

Lots! :)

It was a book that I didn't get around to finishing from the 2015 reading challenge. I meant to read this for the "Author Never Read" week.
- Is there another 2015 book you'll try to read this year?
Yes, because there are several more that I couldn't start or finish in time! (The Goldfinch, Anne of Green Gables, and The Snow Child just to name a few...) But my reading goal is much less ambitious this year since some other priorities have popped up. I will still try to meet requirements of the weeks I can participate, but I'm definitely not going to be able to read one a week...

Katie (katenumber8030) | 70 comments - What are you reading this week?
I'm counting City on Fire by Garth Risk Hallberg for this week, but because I finished it hours after ringing in the new year (and because I wanted to read these three books together,) I am also reading a couple with a similar setting (NYC arts scene in late 70s and 80s.)
I'll probably finish Tuesday Nights in 1980 by Molly Prentiss by the end of the week, but I'll squeeze Ten Thousand Saints by Eleanor Henderson in next week with whatever I find on another continent.

- Was it a book you deleted from your 2015 Reading Challenge plan or just a book from your reading list?
I tried SO HARD to finish it in 2015, but failed. It's nearly 1000 pages, but I had 100 remaining when the ball dropped.

It kept getting bumped by other books I chose to read instead. I'm so glad I finally read it - what a great historical fiction.

Is there another 2015 book you'll try to read this year? I think I'll try At the Water's Edge next. I've read some of her other books and I'm hopeful I will enjoy this one as well. Another book I have to start is The Girl in the Spider's Web. It will be interesting to see if /how the writing has changed from the initial books of the series.
