I think we've gotten it drilled into my thick head so that I won't be dropping out. Plan is to read 2 per month and deal with the novellas as each person sees fit. For me, I plan on adding them on to the month that the previous book fits into, so that means I'm going for three in March.

Holiday in Death J.D. Robb, #7 “In Death”, 2-25-16 (3*), review

Lt. Eve Dallas investigates the sexual homicides of multiple people connected to a matchmaking dating service. The audacious killer dresses up as Santa Claus, then leaves the bodies with a token corresponding to the "Twelve Days of Christmas".

This one dragged a bit for me and seemed same-old, same-old. I'm hoping the next on the list catches my interest a little more, although I very much enjoy this series on the whole.

Midnight in Death J.D. Robb, #7.5 "In Death", 2-29-16 (4*), review

Short read that follows immediately after Holiday in Death. Eve and Roarke's Christmas is interrupted when she gets called in for another homicide. The killer is someone she's very familiar with, a serial killer who believes what he is doing (torturing and studying the victims to see how much they can take) is for the good of science. She got him locked up once before, but he has recently escaped, and now has her at the top of his list for revenge.

This was very good. It was only about 90 pages, but somehow a full story was told successfully without all the extra filler. This one gives Eve a chance to let Dr. Mira know how much she means to her, and it also adds to the foundation of some sort of relationship between McNab and Peabody, although they still have their claws out. Finished Immortal in Death - it was easier for me to figure out the culprit in this one as compared to the last one.

Finished Holiday and Midnight yesterday, and I thought both were pretty good, though I really wanted to see the (view spoiler)[original case in that was featured in Midnight, then have this follow up. What we got was good, but I wanted to see the chase for Palmer the first time around as well (hide spoiler)].

Conspiracy in Death J.D. Robb, #8 "In Death" series (4*), 3-16-16, review

Lt. Eve Dallas is after another serial killer, this one a talented physician with a god complex who is preying on people who live on the streets. Dallas also has a run-in with a jealous underling who has had it in for her since they were in the police academy together. One thing leads to another, and that officer's complaints end up with Dallas being asked to turn in her badge. There's still a serial killer on the loose. What else is she to do? She has to go rogue, of course.

I finished Loyalty last night...it wasn't bad, but wasn't great either. More of a solid 3 star read, though I did like the tension resolution that we got in this story!

I finished Rapture in Death a couple of days ago. It was pretty good. Although I'm finding that the mysteries are quite predictable, I'm really enjoying the character development.

The scene in which Roarke (view spoiler)[has a little "talk" with Jess, really highlights that he has not come as far from his dark past on the streets of London as he might have wished. He was scary! (hide spoiler)]

I love Peabody's little comments :0)

I finished Witness last night...ugh! SO slow going for me on this one. It felt very skippable.

Very awkward! It's like Eve (view spoiler)[doesn't know how to or can't be happy because of her past. I didn't like how this story brought her past so close. It's like Eve can't move past it (hide spoiler)].

I'm halfway through Rapture. I can see where the story is going but I don't care because I love Eve and Peabody and Roarke.

Finished - this one is my favorite in the series so far. I really enjoyed the dichotomy between good and evil and the developments in the characters, especially Peabody and Feeney.

I just finished Betrayal...not bad, but I felt some of the character plot lines dragged it down a bit.

I just finished Interlude in Death...this one wasn't bad, very short, but not bad!

Just finished #9. I thought it was slow-going until an exciting ending. Eve was especially irritating this time around in her treatment of Roarke, and she seriously overstepped her bounds regarding Peabody's personal life. She's lucky they see beyond her grouchiness.

This one, you really have to read both halves (It has since been split into Hot Rocks and Big Jack.) in order to understand the full story. That being said, the Hot Rocks side is not as good as the Big Jack side!

I'm actually ahead of the game, quite a bit, so I feel guilty for getting so far ahead, but they're fitting into a lot of challenges for me!
