Shelli The Heretic's Daughter...it's ok...kind of slow. Still reading A Clash of Kings too.

message 1702: by Curlyhair (new)

Curlyhair Not long started Breaking Dawn. Hope its a good ending to the series!

message 1703: by Doug (new)

Doug Bradshaw I'm loving River of Smoke Beautifully written, literature. It's the second book in the series that started with Sea of Poppies

message 1704: by Jim (new)

Jim (jimmaclachlan) I'm reading A Clash of Kings, the second in the Fire & Ice series by George R.R. Martin. The first one was slow going because I'd watched it on HBO. It was like a re-read. Now I'm not sure if I'll get anything else done, though. I know my wife didn't when she was reading them.

message 1705: by Angela (new)

Angela (bookangel2) | 220 comments I've just finished Brethren: An Epic Adventure of the Knights Templar and have started Winter in Madrid. Enjoyed a meaty historical read and think that I'm going to like "Madrid"!

message 1706: by Jannene (new)

Jannene I just finished reading this book. It was an enjoyable book. I love a book that ties up all loose ends. All Through the Night (Holiday Classics) by Mary Higgins Clark

message 1707: by Jannene (last edited Nov 27, 2011 10:18AM) (new)

Jannene I just finished listening to Prince Of Fire (Gabriel Allon, #5) by Daniel Silva by Daniel Silva. It was a good story. However, I did not care for the narrator. I think I would have enjoyed the book much more than the audio version. I'm going to start The Messenger by Daniel Silva and . Body of Evidence (Kay Scarpetta, #2) by Patricia Cornwell by Patricia Cornwell.

Jo....what didn't you like about Silence? I was planning on reading it!

message 1711: by Jim (new)

Jim (jimmaclachlan) I got the 4 book set in paperback for $20 from Amazon, Shelli. I'm also on 'Clash of Kings' right now. This is going faster since I don't know what's going to happen. I bought the 5th book in HB & the calendar for my wife for Xmas.

message 1712: by Shelli (new)

Shelli I just started A Storm of Swords...I love that it starts right where the previous left off!

Diane (dianedj) I am reading The Paris Wife. I hope to get through a lot of it today on the plane.

Angela (bookangel2) | 220 comments I'm halfway through Winter in Madrid, which I'm liking a lot!

message 1716: by Jim (new)

Jim (jimmaclachlan) Right now I'm sneaking peeks at Hugh Laurie's The Gun Seller while at work. (Don't tell!) I haven't gotten far into it, but it reads like House talks when he's trying to be funny. Mostly, it's working well, although he wanders a bit too far afield occasionally.

I'm HOPING this will be REALLY good because it will solve a huge problem with the Luddite I live with - my wife, Margaret. She won't read anything on an ereader & she really likes 'House' so this might just be the break I've been hoping for.

She just started using email & Facebook a couple of years ago. Until we moved to KY & our daughter went off to college, she had no need to use a computer. My oldest boy & I work with them for a living, my daughter tutors other students on their use & my other boy is pretty comfortable with them, so any time she needed anything done, she'd point to one of us & say, "Do it!" The ultimate in remote controls...
;-)

Sam (ecowitch) | 29 comments I'm currently reading The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver, which I am rather enjoying, and Dracula by Bram Stoker, which I have read before but this edition has lots of lovely extras that my other one doesn't!

message 1719: by Doug (new)

Doug Bradshaw Kate, maybe I'll have to read Firelight. Kind of an attractive girl on the cover

message 1720: by Shelli (new)

Shelli Firelight is on my TBR....

message 1722: by Jannene (new)

Jannene I just finished listening to J is for Judgment (Kinsey Millhone, #10) by Sue Grafton . I really do like these books. I'm addicted and told Linda I would wait until next year to finish the series but I just can't.

I'm 1/2 way through All That Remains (Kay Scarpetta, #3) by Patricia Cornwell and this is a book that sucks you right in. I love the plot of this story and am now going to finish it.

message 1723: by Angela (new)

Angela (bookangel2) | 220 comments I'm reading Hurting Distance (Spilling CID, #2) by Sophie Hannah . I've never read anything by Sophie Hannah before - it's quite intriguing so far!

message 1724: by Jannene (new)

Jannene I just finished All That Remains (Kay Scarpetta, #3) by Patricia Cornwell . I really enjoyed this book. I was totally caught up in story. I couldn't imagine who could kill all of these couples. The story kept giving just little bread crumbs until you were told who did it at the end. I love books that do this where you have no idea who had done it until the bitter end.

I think I'll start K is for Killer (Kinsey Millhone, #11) by Sue Grafton now.

message 1725: by Jannene (new)

Jannene I just finished K is for Killer (Kinsey Millhone, #11) by Sue Grafton and found it wasn't as good as the others. I was pretty disappointed with this book. I had to force myself to finish the book and haven't had a problem with that ever on this series. I hope the next book is back to the great reads that I enjoy.

message 1726: by Angela (new)

Angela (bookangel2) | 220 comments I'm reading a children's book, The Children of Green Knowe, at the moment- delightful! Also reading Kissing Christmas Goodbye (Agatha Raisin, #18) by M.C. Beaton .

I feel like I need the closure...lol...but maybe not...I'll let you know if I read it.

message 1729: by Shelli (new)

Shelli I'm still working on A Storm of Swords and The Serpent's Tale...soon will start A Christmas Memory...

message 1730: by Shelli (new)

Shelli I could be wrong...but for some reason I was thinking it was a trilogy!

message 1731: by Shelli (new)

Shelli I am wrong!!! I just looked and apparently there will be a fourth book which as of now is untitled!

message 1732: by Jannene (last edited Dec 13, 2011 07:42AM) (new)

Jannene Lady Killer (Rosato & Associates, #12) by Lisa Scottoline This was a good book. It wasn't what I normally read but it was a nice change of pace. Mary, is easy to identify with as she is caring, determined, and wants to please everyone. She is the girl everyone seems to like and I did like her myself. I still have no idea how the title ties into the book.

message 1733: by Jannene (new)

Jannene I just finished L is for Lawless (Kinsey Millhone, #12) by Sue Grafton . This was a good book. It wasn't like her other books. It was like a treasure hunt. She never did get to use her indestructible dress in this book.

message 1734: by Jannene (new)

Jannene I just finished Murder at the Vicarage. I did not care for it at all. I think this type of mystery is not for me. I couldn't stand the gossiping in the book and the back and forth notes. I'm glad I stuck with the book to finish it though.

I'm now reading Déjà Dead (Temperance Brennan, #1) by Kathy Reichs and the The Son of Neptune (Heroes of Olympus, #2) by Rick Riordan .

message 1735: by Gitte (new)

Gitte (gittetofte) I'm listening to Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman and I'm reading From Dead to Worse - the #8 Sookie Stackhouse novel.

message 1736: by Stuart (new)

Stuart (asfus) | 103 comments I am currently reading Suite Française by Irène Némirovsky

message 1737: by Doug (new)

Doug Bradshaw I'm a third of the way into Tatiana and Alexander Good WW2 historical fiction from the eyes of the Russians. Plus a super love story.

message 1738: by Angela (new)

Angela (bookangel2) | 220 comments I'm reading Treasure Island, Raven Queen and An Enemy at Green Knowe. Enjoying them all :)

message 1739: by Shelli (new)

Shelli Reading Nefertiti and At Grave's End.

message 1740: by Jannene (new)

Jannene Déjà Dead (Temperance Brennan, #1) by Kathy Reichs I just finished this book. This was a good novel. I think it could have been sized down a little. At times it was slow because she went into so much detail that I almost lost interest in what she was saying. I expected part of the book but didn't know who the killer would be.

message 1741: by Jim (new)

Jim (jimmaclachlan) Merry Xmas, all.

message 1742: by Jannene (new)

Jannene I'm reading Cruel & Unusual (Kay Scarpetta, #4) by Patricia Cornwell . I'm still working on The Son of Neptune (Heroes of Olympus, #2) by Rick Riordan . I am listening to M is for Malice (Kinsey Millhone, #13) by Sue Grafton . I will finish that at work on Tuesday.

message 1743: by Angela (new)

Angela (bookangel2) | 220 comments Happy Christmas everyone!

message 1744: by Jannene (new)

Jannene I just finished Cruel & Unusual (Kay Scarpetta, #4) by Patricia Cornwell . I liked this novel. It was very good and the plot was well thought out. The more that I read about Lucy the more I wish she'd move near Kay. I like Marino a lot more too. My only complaint is that the lose ends weren't all tied up to my liking.

message 1745: by Jannene (new)

Jannene I just finished M is for Malice (Kinsey Millhone, #13) by Sue Grafton . It was a good listen. I really liked Guy and how he wanted to make amends for his rough past. I just started listening to N is for Noose (Kinsey Millhone, #14) by Sue Grafton .

message 1746: by Jannene (new)

Jannene I finished listening to N is for Noose. This was a good listen. I liked this book. I didn't have any particular attachment with the characters except Kinsey. I didn't have a clue what was going to happen with the twists and turns in it.

message 1747: by Shelli (new)

Shelli Hope everyone had a great Christmas...and wishing everyone a Happy New Year!!

message 1748: by Doug (new)

Doug Bradshaw Thanks. Enjoy having you as a friend here. Have a great one and let's have tons of fun and great reading in '12

message 1749: by Jannene (new)

Jannene I just finished listening to The Secret Servant. The characters were believable and convincing. The plot took many twists and turns. I just don't like Chira. I find her a needy, insecure woman which is surprising for the kind of job that she does.

message 1750: by Jannene (new)

Jannene Halt's Peril. I just finished this book. This was a great book. I really enjoyed reading it. I hate to see this series end.
