Valerie - thanks for the suggestion. That one has been on my to read list for a while. The description kind of points to it vaguely. Could the other one you're thinking of been a Ellen Hopkins book? I recall reading one by her along these lines as well.
Yes! It was Identical. I just remembered. Another book that kind of fits is 17 & Gone. But to explain how would be a spoiler. I think you would like it though, given the kind of books you're requesting.Oh and I haven't read it yet, but I think The Dead House is also in that vein, although I'm not sure the two ever meet. There is one more that is more like your examples, I just can't think of it!
Thanks! Both look really good. Most of teh books under 'readers also enjoyed' on The Dead Houses page do too :)
Set This House in Order: A Romance of Souls & The Drowning Girl are offbeat versions of this. Obviously, Fight Club. This tvtropes page has more examples: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php...
As will this one: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php...
I think Uncle Vampire is another, and possibly The OtherI'm also trying to think what these kind of books would be called, or terms that help in searching for them. Both "dissociative" and the older (unfortunate) "split personality" seem to bring reasonable results in Novelist, because those are terms used in the book reviews.
all i could think of was 'invisible friend' but that would seem aimed at young kids. will search using those terms Nancy. Looked at and added the other books suggested.
Thanks everyone :)
Can't believe no one has mentioned The Dark Half by Stephen King (Richard Bachman)! Great example of this kind of book.
