Hi!

I will get straight to the point. I am looking for a books series that is phenomenal. The ones that you always recommend to people and yell saying "READ THIS NOW!" Yes I need those recs from you. I absolutely love series (the longer the better naturally) and I am about 0/6 right now on the past series I have tried to enjoy. Now I am at an utter loss and I need help! Looking for PNR but will not say no to UF.

Common recs I have already read:
BDB by J.R. Ward
LOTU by Gena Showalter
Demonica by Larissa Ione
League + Dark Hunter by Sherrilyn Kenyon
IAD by Kresley Cole
Kate Daniels by Ilona Andrews (Did not enjoy)
Riley Jenson Guardian by Keri Arthur
Otherworld by Kelly Armstrong
Midnight Breed by Lara Adrian
Psy-Changeling by Nalini Singh
Dark by Christie Feehan

*Edit:
Fever series I tried reading, but I could only get through the first book and that was enough Mac for me for a long while...

There are a bunch of other ones but I typically see these recommended and don't want you to waste your time, though thank you anyway!

Looking for either completed series or longish series, but naturally I am up for any recommendations that you absolutely adore :)

Thank you thank you!

I'm going to throw you a curve ball from left field (I know, mixed metaphors).

Witch World by Andre Norton is a finished, long series. Actually, it's a series of interconnecting series. It is part sci fi, part "high" fantasy, and part PNR, depending on where you are in the series. This is one series that I ALWAYS recommend. There are 30+ books--some are short story collections, and some are anthologies set in the Witch World world, so you'll be getting a lot of different stories and views of the Witch World itself.

(edit) After you read the first few books, you can read the others in just about any order that you want, until you get to the last 3 books--which are the "tieing up" books of the series. So, read in this order: Witch World Web of the Witch World these 2 set the stage for the world--all the world building is in them. After you finished these 2, the next 3 Three Against the Witch World Warlock of the Witch World and Sorceress of the Witch World concern the children of the MC's in the first 2 books. After these 3 books, you can pretty much read whatever order you want, since the stories bop around location wise and even character wise. So you'll have series with witches, a type of fae-like creatures, warlocks, Viking like characters, shape-shifters, non-humans etc. etc. etc. (And did I mention the intelligent animals?????)

Marie Johnston Laura Wright's Mark of the Vampire series is one I really like that I didn't see on your list.

message 7: by Jen (new)

Jen (jenius05) | 36 comments Veronica Del Rosa is a fan favorite pnr author for me. Her enforcers and coterie series reads a little like UF, a lot like PNR. EAch book is stand alone, but read in order makes things really fun!

Michelle Tempted By Books (michelletemptedbybooks) | 195 comments I enjoy Lynsay Sands, Kresley Cole, and Katie MacAlister. They all are humorous vampire romances. I ADORE Molly Harper's Jane Jameson, or really any of her stuff. Also recommend Darynda Jones' Charley Davidson and Gini Koch's Alien series. I will think of more.

message 9: by Stephanie (new)

Afterlight (Dark Ink Chronicles, #1) by Elle Jasper thats the first book in the series and it is an awesome series, check them out!

Bethyboo ღ The Book Addict ღ (atheniax) | 26 comments So one of my all time favorite series is The Fae Chronicles by Amelia Hutchins. I love this series. There are 4 books out right now though it is not complete.

Another one is Dark Light by S.L. Jennings. Its a total of 3 books and its complete.

Deep in your Veins by Suzanne Wright is another one i deeply enjoyed. The first 3 books focuses on the same characters while the 4th one focuses on side characters from the first 3.

Cindy (Squin) | 112 comments Most of what I love is already mentioned, but one I haven't seen and I LOVE is the Dark Protectors series by Rebecca Zanetti. It starts with Fated (Dark Protectors, #1) by Rebecca Zanetti and has vampires, shifters, witches, demons - they're great! They move right along - and I don't just mean they're easy reads - there are gaps of time in between the books to allow the world and characters to grow and change, which I love.

Casey--a word of warning about the Karen Marie Monig Fever series--make sure that you have the entire series on hand before you start reading it. I personally hate, hate, hate cliff-hangers, but I didn't know that about this series until AFTER I was hooked on it. And, unfortunately, I got hooked when there were only TWO of the books out--that year long wait between each book was killer. However, you are lucky that the entire series is finished now.

message 19: by Katie (new)

Katie (dreamangelmistaolcom) | 43 comments Yes, there was suuuuch long waits between books Anna!! I was hangin there w ya, it sucked!! Especially into the Iced, then waiting that loooooong time for the next one, and now im stilllll waiting for the third one dammit!

Aurora Sky is a really good New Adult vampire series.
Aurora Sky (Vampire Hunter, #1) by Nikki Jefford

The Runes series by Ednah Walters and the Relentless Trilogy by Karen Lynch are both very good as well.
Runes (Runes, #1) by Ednah Walters Relentless (Relentless, #1) by Karen Lynch

Alison (Lady Coffin) S | 184 comments I will agree with Shari Kay
Shari Kay wrote:" ... Has anyone mentioned Halfway to the Grave (Night Huntress, #1) by Jeaniene Frost (Night Huntress, #1) by Jeaniene Frost ... " Really liked the Night Huntress series.

and also agree with Lauren
Lauren wrote: "Dead Witch Walking (The Hollows, #1) by Kim Harrison Hounded (The Iron Druid Chronicles, #1) by Kevin Hearne" The Hollows is one of my favorite series and I was SO SAD to see it end with book 13 last year. As for The Iron Druid Chronicles I am looking forward to book 8 early next year.

My other personal suggestions don't seem to be here yet, so here goes (starting with the completed series):

Sabina Kane series by Jaye Wells starting with Red-Headed Stepchild (Sabina Kane, #1) by Jaye Wells consisting of 5 books with a few short stories.

Dark Days series by Jocelynn Drake starting with Nightwalker (Dark Days, #1) by Jocelynn Drake consisting of 6 books with a few short stories.

Signs of the Zodiac series by Vicki Pettersson starting with The Scent of Shadows (Signs of the Zodiac, #1) by Vicki Pettersson consisting of 6 books with a bunch of short stories.

Allie Beckstrom series by Devon Monk starting with Magic to the Bone (Allie Beckstrom, #1) by Devon Monk it is a completed series of 9 books with a spin off series called Broken Magic.

Weather Warden series by Rachel Caine starting with Ill Wind (Weather Warden, #1) by Rachel Caine it is a completed series of 9 books with a bunch of short stories and a spin off series called Outcast Season with 4 more books. Also, if you like YA her The Morganville Vampires series of 15 or so books with a lot of short stories is very good.

Then:
Yasmine Galenorn for her Otherworld/Sisters of the Moon series, that is different because each third book is told from the perspective of one of three different sisters, starting with Witchling (Otherworld/Sisters of the Moon #1) by Yasmine Galenorn with the 18th book coming out early next year. Then the spin off that just came out the Fly by Night series, and a parallel word series called Indigo Court with 5 books.

Kitty Norville series by Carrie Vaughn starting with Kitty and the Midnight Hour (Kitty Norville #1) by Carrie Vaughn currently at 14 books with a lot of shorts in different anthologies.

Cassandra Palmer series by Karen Chance starting with Touch the Dark (Cassandra Palmer, #1) by Karen Chance has the 8th book coming out next spring and a bunch of short stories.

Chronicles of Elantra series by Michelle Sagara starting with Cast in Shadow (Chronicles of Elantra, #1) by Michelle Sagara has the book 11 coming out later this year, it is however in a lot of ways maybe more fantasy than paranormal.

AND because no one has mentioned them I can't let them be left off if you haven't read them would be:

Mercy Thompson series and it's spin off Alpha & Omega both by Patricia Briggs and still on going.

Elemental Assassin series by Jennifer Estep with book 14 coming out early next year.

The Dresden Files series by Jim Butcher with book 16 expected out next spring.

Finally, but I suspect I am forgetting something amazing, I can't leave off Charlaine Harris and not just for her Sookie Stackhouse series of 13 books, because I can count on one hand the times I have seen the HBO version. But also for her many other series, that depending are not always romance or paranormal like the Sookie series in in both regards, but are very good.

Yep, agree with you on IAD series by Kresley Cole. Have you read her YA one that's out? It's good. I believe its going to be made into a movie or TV series or something. Not positive though. (Arcana Chronicles)

Rikke | 2 comments God Save the Queen (The Immortal Empire, #1) by Kate Locke Moon Called (Mercy Thompson, #1) by Patricia Briggs Cry Wolf (Alpha & Omega, #1) by Patricia Briggs Clean Sweep (Innkeeper Chronicles, #1) by Ilona Andrews

The last two someone else mentioned, but the Mercy Thompson series is awsome, full of shifter action and bad and wicked fay. Alpha and omega is a spin off, yet still connected / the stories are taking place more or less at the same time.

God save the queen, the only problem is, that it's just 3 books long. It's got goblins, vampires and Lupins, oh and humans.., living side by side or underneath if you may.

Cleen sweep, has got magic, vamps, lupins and gates to diffrent planets, its probably more sci fi, but then..again not. It's more on the lighter end, but an interesting universe still.
