Vera, or The Nihilists, A Florentine Tragedy-A Fragment, and La Sainte Courtisane | Oscar Wilde

It's really great book.
Przenajświętsza Rzeczpospolita | Jacek Piekara

I'm finding it very hard to read and not because of the story. I've seen the movie I was prepared for the story. What bothers me is that he spells out the words phonetically with the scottish accent (Ah=I Ma=my and on and on). It bugs me when authors do this slang and jargon I expect but I think he overdoes it a bit. So far when I can interpret it the story isn't terrible.

Just started Written on the body and Mother London,(which is not on the list).

That is why I'm worried about Trainspotting, not because of the subject matter. I am currently reading Their Eyes Were Watching God, and most everything is spelled out phonetically. It's quite a challenge.

I read "A Good Man is Hard to Find" a couple of weeks ago and wanted more...

Good one, Kristi! - I went to a Chaon reading 2 weeks ago. Haven't read it yet, though.

I have heard good things about "Await Your Reply", I think I will add it to my to be read list.

When I read this book it was just about the best thing I'd ever read- so clever and complex and insightful!

I couldn't get into it- was too complicated and I couldn't get a handle on the characters- too alien for me. I only read 1/3- thought that was enough as it was a very long read!
