I just started reading The Brothers Karamazov, heard a lot about this one, it should be an interesting journey...
Today, I somehow forgot to put one of the many books I am already reading in my purse. I ended up making an emergency Barnes & Noble run to get through a couple of hours of manning the blanket prior to a fireworks show. I picked up The Feast Of The Goat by Mario Vargas Llosa.

Not sure if this really counts, but after taking a two-month break I'm picking up book #2 of Kristin Lavrensdatter -- The Wife.

Keep with it, it does get better! I was disappointed with the beginning when I got to the end. It could have been a 5 star rating for me if it weren't for the excessive sex.

This is definitely NOT a list book."
Yes,but that's a book I loved to read until now.
But,tell me,maybe I'm wrong...Only the list books are to be put here,or not?If it'll be,I make my pardon..

Luis, the thread is "which LIST book did you start"
When does "The Sun Also Rises" get good?So far, its really slow. I don't want to abandon it just yet, but I'm bored.

I just finished this one. I found it a bit hard to get into also. I think it helped me when I got the hang of being able to sound the dialogue out in my mind. Kind of the way when you read a script it might seem flat, and you have to add the voices. Even then, though, it remains a bit slow. I think for me due to the fact that it centers on the leisure hours of these people. And watching other people 'party' isn't really that interesting, when you're not 'partying' yourself. I felt overall it was worthwhile for me in the end, Hemingingway definitely has a point to make, but I can understand the feeling.
Speaking of difficulty, I'm really not enjoying London Fields. I get it, I think, it just isn't enjoyable for me.

I'm starting this one now too!

I'm about 70% into One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. So far it's a good read, but I can't get the movie out of my head. Louise Fletcher was fantastic as Nurse Ratched.

The stage version is much truer to the book than the movie is, and it put a little space in my mind between the movie actors and the written characters. Much less impressed with the movie version of the 3, but agree - Louise Fletcher was fabulous.
