Brenda ╰☆╮ (brnda) | 1494 comments Here we are in March, spring around the corner.

Tell us what you are reading this month.

message 2: by Brad (new)

Brad (glazier) God Brenda if that were only true. 6-10 inches of snow expected tonight. Sigh. I just finished Miserere: An Autumn Tale. I'll be reading Gardens of the Moon for our buddy read and Streams of Silver.

message 3: by Sandra (new)

Sandra (sleo) | 1913 comments Yeah, it's currently 15 degrees Fahrenheit and we're supposed to get 8-10 inches of snow tomorrow. I sincerely hope spring is just around the corner.

Brenda ╰☆╮ (brnda) | 1494 comments :D
I know wishful thinking.....
But it's gotta be.....it's just gotta be!

It was 10 degrees early this morning...now 21...
Wintery mix called for Sun-Mon.
Come on; let's skip this one!

I'll be reading Princeps' Fury

Want to start Words of Radiance first to finish my re-read of TWoK.

message 7: by Molliver (last edited Mar 01, 2014 08:15AM) (new)

Molliver (mollypagewrite) I preordered Words of Radianceso I feel like I'm going to have Christmas on March 4th. Also, I just started a YA fantasy book called The Waking Dreamer.

message 8: by Martha (new)

Martha (tilla) | 194 comments Right now, The Reluctant Berserker. Still waiting for The Bastards and the Knives which they *say* will be out March 3, but I'm not holding my breath since they've been saying it'll be out 'soon' for years. As soon as the next parts of I Bring the Fire or Bauldar's Tears come out, I'm grabbing those. They're quick reads, very Loki-centric and have not only great characterization but wonderful plots.

Oooo.....
The Chronicles of Amber
I'm always up for that series.

Yeah, I'm up in Kokomo, and I need to go to Indy on Tuesday to pick up Words of Radiance. Hopefully 31 will be clear by then or I think I'll scream lol.

That's tough!
Hope you weren't stuck with anything.

FYI
Betancourt is an author who was continuing Zelazny's series. They're not quite the same and there is a lot of controversy as to whether he was really given permission by the author. So be careful of those books. I read them and found them... okay... on their own.

I wish you well in that trip. Mine is scheduled for delivery, we shall see how that turns out.

message 14: by Andreas (new)

Andreas 1,000 pages of Words of Radiance. If you're curious, read my review - I edit it continuously.

Luke Andreas wrote: "1,000 pages of Words of Radiance. If you're curious, read my review - I edit it continuously."

I read that when you first posted it. It made my mouth water for more lol.

Andreas Luke wrote: "I read that when you first posted it. It made my mouth water for more..."

Yeah, it is a truely month-covering book :)
Tuesday is near, friend! You have to get the hardcover, it is really beautiful.
Come back tomorrow, I'll post an update.

Brenda ╰☆╮ (brnda) | 1494 comments Well...I love long books....soOo...
:D

But I'm confused. You have a copy of Words of Radiance?

message 18: by Luke (new)

Luke Yeah, TONS of copies got released early. Amazon.de (Germany Amazon) released their books early this week, as well as stores in the UK sold their stock early. Amazon US sent out a lot of copies early as well for unknown reasons.

I know of probably 100+ people between 17S, Reddit, and here that already have copies :(

Brenda ╰☆╮ (brnda) | 1494 comments Grrr....not fair!

I'm reading The Broken Kingdoms, then Princep's Fury and First Lord's Fury. Then I have Steelheart, Under Heaven and The Husband's Secret for the real people group. Assuming March lasts that long!

message 21: by Ian (new)

Ian Hall | 169 comments currently reading gardens of the moon for our buddy read, im a third of the way through assassins quest, then decide from my to read pile

Andreas Luke wrote: "Yeah, TONS of copies got released early. Amazon.de (Germany Amazon) released their books early this week, as well as stores in the UK sold their stock early. Amazon US sent out a lot of copies earl..."

Amazon.de sent mine on Feb 23 and I wasn't in the first delivery round. I think that it is fair that they send out things to arrive in time. But that was way off and I don't know why they are allowed to do so.
I'm pretty sure that you'll finish the novel earlier than me, Luke - I haven't got much time this week reading it. I just finished the second part (page 392) which is mouth-watering :)

message 23: by Em Lost In Books (last edited Mar 02, 2014 03:31AM) (new)

Brenda ╰☆╮ (brnda) | 1494 comments Not fair because I don't have my copy.
;)

Not fair, because I read that it was important that none of the books get delivered before March 4. It's okay...no prob....Just don't want any spoilers. Want to read it for myself.
:)

message 25: by Luke (new)

Luke Andreas wrote: Amazon.de sent mine on Feb 23 and I wasn't in the first delivery round. I think that it is fair that they send out things to arrive in time.

Yeah, for some reason Amazon.de started selling REALLY early and I haven't discovered why. The site had the March 4th release posted, but then allowed the stock to be released like 1-2 weeks early.

message 26: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (jennyc89) I'm working on finishing up books from last month- The Battle of the Labyrinth (audio), Shift Omnibus Edition (Silo, #2), and Mrs. Poe.

message 27: by Tara (new)

Tara (tarabookreads) I'm reading The Way of Kings and plan to read the second book when I'm done..

message 28: by Camilla (new)

Camilla Hansen (malazanshadowdancer) As I've been highly inactive in my reading, I have made little progress since last year. Hurray for real life intervention!

Standing still in Dust of Dreams.

Just read The Importance of Being Earnest, highly amusing and quick read.

I've picked up on The Rithmatist again, lovely to listen to while sitting on the bus for half an hour. Keeps me awake with all this pondering!

And I'm soon-ish done with Chronicles of the Black Company. I really want to continue the series, but at the same time, it's THREE novels in one. It will fuck up my yearly book goal as well :< Oh well. I have lots to start on anyway.

I have to catch up with some of my book clubs, picking up my copy of The Name of the Wind next.

Though I HAVE gotten through 3 novels already this year, all Guild Wars 2 related:
Ghosts of Ascalon, Edge of Destiny and Sea of Sorrows.

message 29: by Billy (new)

Billy Waggledagger Have got as far as approx pp400 of Memories of Ice (Steven Erikson), but left it off for a while so decided to start from beginning and am re-reading Gardens of the Moon.

message 30: by Billy (new)

Billy Waggledagger Got a dozen or so on the 'back-burner' in work and will try to interweave them with Steven Erikson. Wish me luck :-) !!

Lindsey | 124 comments Paused my Way of Kings re-read to enjoy Bishop's latest, Murder of Crows, and my book club's pick, Hild. But then it will be back to Way of Kings and on to Words of Radiance.

If I get really ambitious, I'll finish up Canavan's Traitor Spy trilogy.

Prince of Thorns is my current paperback read. So far it's living up to its dark reputation better than The Blade Itself did.

message 36: by Luke (new)

Luke PoT is one of my personal favorites.

Lawrence is awesome and he's active on here and Reddit, so you can actually chat with him occasionally.

message 37: by Katy (new)

Katy (kathy_h) | 95 comments Winter Rose by Patricia A. McKillip. Love her writing. A good book to read while I wait for my copy of WoR to arrive. I got the slow Amazon delivery on this one for some reason.

message 38: by Nick (new)

Nick Marsden (nepharid) | 27 comments I'm still reading the Riyria Revelations. I started Book 1 in January and loved it so much I moved on. But all through February, I lost my Kindle upon which the books reside. My phone's Kindle app (Windows Phone) freezes, so I couldn't read the book. I found my Kindle a few days ago (which was, strangely, in the pocket of the bag I carry around all the time and thought I had searched thoroughly) and now I am finishing the last book of that series. I'll be reading The Golem and the Jinni next, since I have djinn in my own books. (There is also a movie called "Jinn" coming out soon... they are making a fantasy comeback, folks!)

message 39: by Joseph (new)

Joseph | 1651 comments Finished Broken Angels and started Woken Furies, both by Richard K. Morgan. When that's done it'll be time to revisit Michael Shea, probably starting with Nifft the Lean.

message 40: by Michelle (new)

Michelle Kobus (rainbowsunset) | 0 comments Finished Triskellion last night, now on to Son of a Witch.

message 41: by Iri (new)

Iri (iriyanssen) I am going to reread John Morressy´s books about Kedrigern, yeah!

J.S. Morin (jsmorin) Luke wrote: "PoT is one of my personal favorites.

Twitter as well (two underscores!). I've had a few back and forth's with him on there, which is one of the great things about Twitter. Approachability definitely weighed in on my decision to read his books.

message 43: by Lady*M (last edited Mar 07, 2014 01:14PM) (new)

Lady*M Just finished Words of Radiance.

Planning to reread Richard K. Morgan before the last sequel is released.

Oh - and Ian - thanks for reading Theft of Swords, I'm glad you like it.

message 47: by Nathan (new)

Nathan Tullis (nathantullis) Yes, RPO is very good. I loved that book.

message 48: by Nathan (new)

Nathan Tullis (nathantullis) I'm rereading Way of Kings, followed by Words of Radiance. After that it's The Golem and the Jinni followed by The Thousand Names.

message 49: by Shannon (new)

Shannon The Lord of The Rings trilogy...starting today

message 50: by Luke (new)

Luke Let's see. I've finished:

Mistborn The Final Empire
Emperor's Soul
Words of Radiance

And still planning on reading:

Well of Ascension
The Hero of Ages
Alloy of Law
The Warded Man
Storm Front

If I somehow manage to finish all that, then I'll probably finish Gardens of the Moon and then continue with the rest of Malazan Book of the Fallen in April.
