"Well, for The History of Elders it doesn't give much on how to tell if you're one or not... It mostly points out signs that you are. Like Annoyances, Getting flash backs of things you know you never did but can still remember, Unrest, Flashes of the future.. Have you been having any of that?" She asked looking up at her worriedly. Having not noticed that she'd picked up another book and had set it down right away when she had read something. That must of unsettled her.

Nick finished his meal and went to take the plate to the sink to put it in the dishwasher. Packing up the left overs that was still on the stove, eyeing Ruby's and deicing to wait a while longer before packing it up. Pouring a glass of blood into a not see through cup and then going and returning to sit with Avery while she finished up.



((Okay, can I just say : Holy crap! That's like-- forever ago! But then again Will hasn't been a vampire in like forever either so that kind of makes sense.. Okay I'm done now.))


Grace saw him run for the human. She had thought he'd take the Human over the deer. Humans were fresh, and hot. Or at least that was how she had heard other vampires express and explain them as. Not that she'd ever tasted or did she ever want to taste human. Yuck! Darting out from behind her hiding place and giving chase herself.

Ruby's faced paled a little bit and looked back to the little black book. "The book has a picture of someone that looks like Nick in it and I feel like I know this person, but this person was a hunter and it says his true love almost died, but his brother, Blake, turned her into a vampire and that's all it says." Pausing a little bit and frowned. "This hunter was the first hunter and he discovered vampires and his first kill was his true love. They are reborn the lovers and each time it ends the same until the curse is broken." Ruby looked down at the book and then glanced at Raven. "Nick wasn't supposed to be a vampire he was suppose to be a hunter. That's why he has human emotions still he can still snap.... Blake is was one of the first elders, he tried forcing Nick to let go." She gasped. "Everytime he tried turning me... I mean this female vampire into an elder to protect her from dying and this time he succeed. If Nick lets go that means the curse will be broken he wouldn't be able to snap." She got up from the couch. "The books you and will read for written, by the hunters which would explain why they wouldn't want him to let go. I have to go to Nick he has Avery. Avery's in danger. Raven follow behind me and I want you to take Avery right away and run far away." Ruby didn't know how she knew this, but her gut told her this. She darted towards her house and opened the front door and sighed in relief when she saw Avery and Nick eating dinner.

"Mommy you made it," Avery ran to her and hugged Ruby.

"I wouldn't miss going shopping with my family for the world, but Auntie Raven is outside go outside for a moments while daddy and I talk. Then we can go shopping." Avery smiled at skipped out side. Ruby glanced at Nick. "We need to talk Nick. I need you to let go please, I will explain everything to you, but I need you to let go first." Ruby had a since of urgency and worry lacing her voice. Her heart pounded in her chest she was frightened.

Will stopped sundely stalking the human as if it was fresh prey. He waited until the human got closer to him to make his move.

Raven smiled, holding out her arms for a hug when Avery came skipping out the door to her. "Hey, how's my big girl doing?" She asked not wanting to alarm her of anything. Pretending that everything was fine, and she had simply came on a social call to visit with everyone.


Nick looked up at Ruby once Avery had skipped on outside to say hello to Raven. Hearing her saying that he had to let go, that he had too. And then she'd explain everything once he did. Hearing the urgency and worry in her voice. That made no sense though. Wouldn't him letting go cause this reaction from her and not him just sitting at the kitchen table. "Baby... this doesn't make any sense. Why do you need me to let go so bad? Seeing as we both know I wont be myself if I do,.."


Grace fallowed but walked out and stood by the trail reading a map that she had wisely shoved in her pocket from her car that she had snagged before she left the house. Even though she stood enough off the trail that Will couldn't see her but the Human would if she called out and asked for directions. Turning it one way then the other.. Calling to him when he passed by. "Excuse me.. I seemed to have gotten lost. Could you point me in the right direction?"

"Good we going shopping after dinner. Daddy says I might get new toy next week." Avery said hugging Raven.

"Nick I love you so much like so so much and I swear I would not ask you to let go unless if I thought you absolutely had too. I will explain everything, but please Nick please let go." Ruby looked up at him. "You have to trust me, that I have a very good reason. I will explain everything to you." Ruby looked up at him she was so afraid right now this whole thing could go south. "I love you Nick and no matter what I love you, but this is serious Nick, you have to let go." Tears rolled down her face. "Do it Nick, I will explain everything to you after you do." She knew if she told him anything else that he had a chance of snapping then should would have to kill him and that would hurt her so much, but if it came down to that she had an idea on how to save him.

Will stopped hearing a voice and sighed he couldn't just kill a human when someone else was around. He decided he would wait until whoever was speaking had passed and got back on the trail. He wish he could see who it was.

Nick nodded, he knew she wouldn't ask him to do this if she didn't have to. Something must of happened, or she had learned something. closing his eyes and letting go. It took some work, because his body had become so used to him saying no. That now that he wanted too it was having a hard time agreeing and complying to that order. But he finally did. Opening his eyes and looking at her.


Raven hugged her back. "That's wonderful, are you excited about going shopping?"


Grace listened hearing Will's light breathing even from here. He wanted blood. Then turned back when she noticed that the human was done talking to her. "Okay thank you.." really she had no intention of going whatever way he had told her to go. She was going to duck behind a tree and then surprise Will when he came charging down.

Ruby smiled softly and wiped her tears off her face. "I went to Raven's Nick because I thought she might have answers if the Elders turned me into an Elder and she did have answers in the books she collected over the years." She sat on the couch and looked at him and started to explain what she discovered. "If you didn't let go breaking the curse you would have snapped, but you couldn't have killed me because I'm Elder now, I think, but you would have killed Avery and who knows what other vampire out there." Looking down, "You were never suppose to be a vampire and because of me you are one, because of me you lost who are." She whispered. "But you would have died that day and I couldn't let you die. I had to save you. I will always save you and Avery. That might make me selfish, but I'm a vampire and we are selfish." Ruby wasn't sure how Nick was going to react to any of this. She wasn't sure how his vampire self would be like. Her first instinct was to get up and go near him she touched his arm lightly. "Nick are you okay? I know I just dumped a lot on you, but I promised to tell you everything."

Avery smiled and shook her head. "Mommy and daddy said movie night tomorrow." She said happily.

Will heard the voice disappear he kept stalking the person slowly waiting for the right moment. The human walked into the clearing and he thought it was safe to make a go for it. He walked out into the clearing. The human looked a little startled. "Its fine, I'm lost, more so I lost my girlfriend." He explained.

Nick went and sat with her, as she explained. A little confused, by it all. "What curse? What makes you think your an Elder now,--- did one of her books point to you maybe being one? What do you mean I wasn't suppose to be a vampire? Honey, what did you find in her old books?" None of this was making any sense to him. Although he had no idea about Raven's old books until five seconds ago either.


"Oh, I bet that's going to be fun. Are you guys ordering pizza as well?" She asked thinking she might know. Thinking to Ruby and just Ruby alone 'Do you still want me to run with her? '



The person turned looking at a young man, maybe in his late 20's. When he came out from no where and he hadn't heard him coming. But relaxed when he said he'd lost his girlfriend. "Oh, she have blond hair?" He asked thinking he might of just seen her.

Ruby pulled out the little black book from her coat pocket. "While she was reading the book about The History of the Elders I found this book, like I seen it before, I picked it up and opened to a page." She opened the book to the exact page. "I saw a person like you on this book talking about the first hunter and his brother, Blake, who is the elder who tried forcing you to let go a couple weeks ago." She paused showing him the page. "The first hunter look exactly like you and I filled in the missing story to Raven like I lived it or something. You're an elder if you remember your past lives and experience deajuv as well as seeing into the future." Ruby looked up at him. "The books Will and Raven were reading that night they separated us were written, by hunters who didn't want you letting go. Who wanted you to snap and kill me and possibly a lot of vampires. I'm sorry this doesn't make sense, but please do you believe me or at least don't think I'm crazy." I don't know yet.

Avery nodded. "Yeah." She giggled. "Is mommy and daddy done talking?"

Will smiled. "Yes, we were supposed to meet here awhile ago. She wanted to find a fresh source of water before it storms tonight."

Nick looked over the page that she showed him. The guy in the book looked creepily like him. And that would explain why The Elder---Blake he guessed. Had tried so hard to make him snap, loose control. Maybe it had to do with him looking so much like his brother. "How is any of this possibly though? Does it give their last names?" Could it be that he was descended from a long line of Vampire Hunters? it would make sense--- he guessed. Seeing as his own brother Mike had become a vampire hunter. At this point he was ready to call it the family business. "Then--- wouldn't that make you- I don't know. Reincarnated somehow? If you remember this as your past life?"


'I'm going to take her for a walk then, if that's okay.' She thought back to her. "No honey I don't think so... Mommy had something real important to talk to Daddy about." She told her.



"I just saw her, a little ways back.. she was asking for directions, must of gotten lost looking for you." He told him. pointing in the direction he had seen her in.

"I don't know Nick, all I know is that Blake was trying to prevent you from killing me and everything repeating again. I think he was one that turned me into the Elder. "I remember falling off my horse while riding it breaking my neck, but Blake hopped off and turned me into a vampire. When you found out what he done you were disgusted by it and hated him so much for ruining you life. You thought he turned me so he could keep me for himself, but that wasn't the case. You thought he was a monster and so was I. I was your first victim. I remember getting stabbed." Ruby shivered shaking her head not answering Raven. "I don't like remembering something that never happened to me. Nick does it matter now? We broke the curse can't we have our happily ever after?"

"But I want to go shopping." Avery said softly.

Will smiled. "Thanks." He said. "Do you mind giving me some blood?" He asked using some persuasion.

Nick thought over all of it. Then shook his head, for once none of it mattered. They'd broken the curse. Which meant none of this would ever happen again. And The Eld---- Blake. He would have to get used to calling him that. Had saved Ruby from dying. But this time he was a vampire too. "No, none of it matters... I think we might finally have our happily ever after." He'd have to keep a close eye on her, but everything that she had told him that they had found in Raven's book pointed to her being an Elder now. But that didn't matter, she was still his Ruby. Still the mother of his child. Still-- well. Soon to be his wife. And for that he wouldn't change a thing.


"I'm sure you'll have time to go shopping after they finish talking. It's still early." Raven said sitting down on the porch and letting her feet dangle.



"Not a problem-- do I mind... " He started to say wondering what in the world this guy was talking about.


Grace got ready to move in, seeing as even she had heard the persuasion in his voice. It had even called to her slightly. But not enough to do any real damage and risk her being found out.

Ruby looked up at him and smiled softly. She hugged him tightly despite all of this part of her felt like there was going to be war coming and there wasn't going to be no avoidance to it. Ruby kissed him softly and smiled against his lips. "I'm really happy for some reason, I know there's going to be a war soon, but I'm just really happy Nick." She whispered softly against his lips.

Avery shook her head. "Mommy and daddy and I are going shopping Auntie Raven."

Will looked at him. "Take your swift army knife and cut your neck now." He said.

Nick hugged her back tightly never wanting to let her go. "I'm happy to... " He told her giving her a kiss. He was glad that she had told him what was going on. And what she had found out, even though they didn't know for sure if she was one or not yet. He was just happy to be with her, and that she was okay and safe. "I love you too.."


"I know honey, but you have to wait until their done talking.Why don't you tell me what you guys are going shopping for."

The man nodded his head and removed it from his side pocket that he'd carried it in. Slowly bringing it up to his throat.


Grace saw the knife, he was really going to make the man cut himself for him... that wasn't like Will. But then again-- she hadn't known him while he was a vampire. She had meet him after he had shifted into a werewolf. Maybe his vampire side was different. Not as gentle.. or caring. That would explain that harshness he'd spoken with towards her. Walking around behind Will and then coming out from the tree line.

Ruby giggled looking up at him. "I think our little girl is calling for us." She smiled. "Are you going to be okay around all those humans Nick?" she asked catiously not wanting to offend him or anything. "I know you just let go and everything. I don't want to push you and make you up you uncomfortable." I already took so much from you and I don't want to push you She thought mostly to herself, but knew Nick would hear it. It was her bad habit feeling sorry for everything she did around people. She guessed Damon had a lot to blame for that.

Tears started running down her face. "I want mommy daddy now." Avery started to bawl her eyes out.

Will smiled waiting for the blood to show from the guys neck before attacking.

Nick gave her a smile regardless seeing as he had still heard her thoughts. Thinking to her 'yeah, but I don't blame you a bit... and just loving you and having Avery makes up for everything you think you took from me..' Kissing her again then answering her about rather or not he'd be okay with being around all those humans. "Yeah, I'll be okay. Promise. I think you're right, we better head on out before she gets anymore upset." He told her kissing her check and then standing so that they could get going.


"Oh, honey.. don't worry. It sounds like their done talking now. So you'll be able to go shopping now." Raven told Avery. She wasn't good with crying children despite how much practice she'd had over all her years it never really helped. One of the reasons she'd never adopted any children of her own.


He was very unsure even though he felt clam for some reasons. Feeling the blood starting to run down his throat.

Ruby smiled softly and looked up at him. Nick was amazing to her and she wonder what she did to deserve him. Ruby got up and intertwined her fingers his. "Okay, but if it gets to be too much we will leave." Nick never really went after a human nor had he really tasted fresh human blood before so it had her a little worried that he was under estimating the blood. She led him to the door and opened it and walked out. Human scent was all over the place she glanced up at Nick then to Avery. "Its okay baby girl we are going shopping."

Avery ran over to her parents crying, not because of Raven, but because her mouth was hurting her. "Shhhhhhh baby girl." Ruby felt something come over her her vision blurred into something else. She could see Damon kissing her. Tears ran down her face it felt like she was relieving what he did to her. Her breathing grew faster as she started to hyperventilate.

"What's wrong with mommy?" Avery asked softly sniffing some.

Will saw the blood drip down. "You're going to stand still and I'm going to take your blood. Afterwards I want you to go find me more people to take blood from"

"Whoa, honey... here. I've got her." he told her taking Avery from her so that she didn't accendtly drop her. Sitting Avery on her feet once more. Leading her down to the porch so that she could sit down and recover from the attack. "Mommy will be okay sweetie.. Raven can you take her inside the house, maybe find her something to take. She's fanging and her mouth has been hurting her. "


Raven nodded gently scooping up Avery and carrying her inside the house. She knew how much Nick didn't want Avery seeing Ruby like this because there would be no easy way to explain it to her. Sense she was still young and she wouldn't really understand. Sitting her down by the medical closet and looking through it for something that would lessen the pain her mouth was in.


The man nodded. He would do whatever the young man told him to do. He felt like a mindless zombie that was still alive.


Grace listened as she approached slowly from behind them. She'd wait until the very last minute, and then she'd move in. Seeing as Will wouldn't expect her to wait this long.

Ruby didn't answer she blinked a few times and looked down tears fell down her face. She immediately curled into Nick and started to bawl her eyes. "I had a v-vision of what he did to me Nick. It was horrible it was like reliving it again." She buried her face into Nick clenching his shirt. Tears kept coming down. Right now her mind was weak and easy to control she didn't think about Nick and how he would react to it, but that didn't matter to her right now the only thing that was her mind is what she just saw.

Avery looked up at Raven. "Is mommy okay? She looks sad. Why is mommy sad?" Avery kept asking questions

Will nodded and smiled and walked over getting ready to take blood.

Nick held her as she cried into his shirt. Resting his chin on top of her head much like he'd done while they'd been upstairs. Wishing he could do something to help her, but he didn't know if what he'd done before would have any effect on her now that she could possibly be an elder. But thought he'd at least try to again. "Shhh, it'll pass sweetheart. Do you want me to try and block the memory again? Like I did, when you first woke up and asked me too?"


Raven bit her lip as she found something shaking one out. "Yes, mommy will be okay. She- mommy just thought of something sad. It'll be okay though." She told Avery. She didn't know for sure but it would have to work. Seeing as the truth would only make Avery worry more and she wouldn't understand it.


The man waited unable to move while he walked over to him. As he saw two things come down out of his mouth.


Grace ran closer to them. Seeing that he hadn't been joking- he really was going to take blood from this man. And then he was going to have him bring him more humans so that he could feed on all of them.

Ruby didn't know how to form words from her mouth. Nick was still asking her permission for things. Did that mean he didn't let go all the way? Or was he still the same before and after he let go like she thought he would be. Would he be alright going in her mind? "Make me forget about him all together. I don't want to remember him take those memories away." She wasn't sure how Nick would react doing this because he just let go and he might take her mind over for good, but as of right now she didn't care. Maybe it was time for her to act like a mindless mate.

Avery looked at Raven. "ME want mommy and daddy."

Will smiled and pulled away.

Nick was careful going into her mind. He didn't want to pull to hard or do anything else to hard seeing as he had let go and he didn't know how much stronger he would be now. Plus he didn't know how she would react to it either. Pulling the whole memory out so that she wouldn't even be able to remember it ever again. And then letting it flout away. Then pulling himself out of her mind as well. "Okay--it's gone." He told her a moment later.


"I know, Mommy will be fine. And then when she is daddy will let us know so that we can go see her. And then the three of you can go shopping." She told her going into the bathroom and filling a cup with water, and then calling for her to come in. "Here, come take this, it'll help with the pain in your mouth."



Grace stopped when she saw that he was already done feeding... and would be sending the man to gather more people soon. "Will---"

Ruby looked at him and nodded her head. She still remembered Damon in general and she didn't want that, but she understood Nick didn't want to go deep in her mind and all, but she didn't mind. "If you wanted to control me you could Nick. I don't mind, its about time that I want to become a mindless vampire." She said this before and he refused to do it, but this time wasn't like the last time. She really couldn't handle it at the moment. "I'm tired I really am tired this time. I can't handle it. I tried so hard to make things better to get better, but I just can't do it. I give up, Rose can have the stupid crown I can get shunned. You can unlet go and snap. Kill me follow the stupid curse because I'm done." Ruby looked down hating that she felt this way.

Avery looked at Raven. "Daddy sings song when me take medicine."

Will turned around quickly hearing a voice and he went after the voice.

"But then Avery wouldn't have her mother anymore, and she needs you. I promise I let go, that this is me after letting go. But your happiness and our daughters still comes first. I know that I should be like all the others now. Wanting to control you, and all that. But I'm still me. And I can't just take over your mind, we both know how that ended in the past. Lets go shopping, sense Avery must be growing impatient again, and worried about you." he told her softly, kissing her forehead.


Oh. Well uh... this was new. She didn't know any songs like that. "Oh, what kinds of songs does daddy sing?" She asked wondering if she would be able to copy something close to it to get Avery to take it.


Grace hadn't counted on him coming after her. But-- he was. Jumping out of the way as he came at her. She didn't want to fight him but she would if she had too. And there was no other way.

Ruby didn't answer him she was just done with trying. Closing her eyes softly she shut her emotions off. "Let's go." She said coldly, tired of hoping that Nick would make her feel an ounce better. Shutting her emotions off wasn't going to help. Ruby was just feeling sorry for herself and being brat who pouted when things didn't go her way just like her sister. Ruby didn't really know why she did this all the time, maybe it had something to do with her past life. She needed someone to get upset at her and tell her how her actions is just hindering everyone including herself. Deep down she knew this and wanted to changed.

"I don't know" Avery said, it was a lie. She just didn't want to take any yucky medicine.

Will stopped dead in his tracks when he realized what he done and ran into a different direction.

Nick sighed. She always did this, and yet she had said that she wanted this to be their happily ever after. This wasn't happily ever nothing. She had turned off her emotions, again. He had been trying to make her feel better see reason. But no. Maybe it had something to do with her past that he didn't - or couldn't. remember. When she got like this she didn't need him holding her and telling her everything would be better that she was strong enough. What she needed was him telling her how it was. To tell her this behavior was totally uncalled for. Maybe he'd get lucky this time around and he wouldn't have to do it two months later. Getting up as well. "Fine. Lets go then."


Raven cocked an eyebrow. She was sure that she knew it. Most kids remembered silly songs like the ones their parents used to get them to do something they didn't want to do. "Are you sure?" She asked in a silly voice.



Grace saw it when it hit him on what he'd almost done. And what he had done. He'd gone after her, for taring him away from his food. Glancing at the human man that at some point had stopped bleeding and had fallen to the ground. Oh well... he'd wake up on his own. His heart beat was still strong, so he'd recover and wake in an hour or so. Starting to give chase to go after Will.

Ruby rolled her eyes. "Come on Avery take the stupid medicine and lets go shopping. We don't have time for your games." Ruby said coldly tapping her foot. This was taking it a little too far she normally would only lash out at Nick when this happened, but maybe because there's a chance that she was an elder that made it worse.

Avery heard the tone in her mother's voice and backed away from Raven. She started to cry why was her mother so upset?

Will kept running he wish Grace would have left him alone then this wouldn't of happened.

Nick watched as she snapped at Avery about taking the medicine that he had asked Raven to get for her because of the fanging. Walking over to her, and giving Avery a smile to make up for Ruby's harsh words. "Come on honey, I'll sing the song while you take it then we can go shopping." He told her giving Ruby a hard look over their daughters head. He didn't care if she took things out on him while she was like this. She could all she wanted and he wouldn't care. But he would not stand by and watch as she took things out on their daughter. Things Avery couldn't even began to understand yet.



Raven looked up at Ruby's cold voice. Then looked at Nick when he said he'd sing the song so that she could take it then they could leave. Standing up and looking between the two. Getting the feeling she should leave. "I'm uh, going to head home so that way you guys can go shopping.... " She told Nick not sure if she wanted to talk to Ruby right then.


Grace pushed herself to keep up- or as close as she could with him. Seeing as he had vampire speed. And she only had her werewolf abilities and speed. To keep pace with him. Getting closer but he was always a few miles away. Shifting and starting to run that way. Getting close enough that he'd be in hearing rage again. And shifted back midrun. "Will! Stop!"

Ruby glanced at Nick giving him a cold look then her eyes drifted to Raven. "Good, leave maybe you can start fixing your broken relationship. Then again it was doom to from the start a cross breed relationship. At least with Will it was a little acceptable." She snickered at Raven. "Nick we don't have times for stupid songs that sugar coat things for little kids. We have to go to the store now. Take the stupid medicine."

Avery looked at her mother tears started running down her face even more. "Mommy mad why mommy mad? Can me make her feel better? Mommy never yell why mommy yell?" Ruby was making things worse.

"Leave me alone, I don't want you anymore take hint." Will snapped. He could have hurt Grace he would have never been able to forgive himself for doing that.

Raven wanted to bite out some snarky remark about how vampires didn't get to pick who their life partners where. And how she should know that by now. Just like werewolves didn't get to either. It just happened. But bit her tongue. She knew her adding anything to this would only make things worse. And they didn't need that right now. Worming her way around Nick and Avery in the bathroom to get to the door.



Nick looked up at Ruby when she snapped that they didn't have time for sugar coating things and how they had to leave now. "Yes we do. The store will still be there twenty seconds from now. So if you don't like it you can go wait by the car so that I can sing the song for Avery so that her fangs wont hurt so much while we're out." He told her, in a serous voice. Then turned back to Avery. "Here sweetie... lets sing the song okay?" He said trying to distract her from her mothers harsh and harsher words.



"Fine! I get it, okay? I get that you're a vampire and I can't change that, I knew that this could happen when we got into the relationship I'm not dumb." This was all just so wrong... she knew the legends had known that Will was a half breed when she had meet him. Only a couple months later had she found out that he was also his mate. They'd been through hell together, and back. So why he hadn't come to her this time about this she didn't know. And it hurt like hell hearing him saying that he didn't want her anymore but she'd get through it. All she wanted was to say her piece. And then if he still didn't want anything to do with her then she'd walk away and he'd never have to see her again.

"Mommy mad daddy why mommy dad. Mommy should be happy. She don't yell why she yell?" Avery was confused on why her mother was being so harsh. "Mommy come sing song with daddy make you happy. Daddy mommy need to be happy." Avery sniffled some looking at her mother.

Ruby rolled her eyes at the whole situation. "Just take the medicine already" She snapped.

Avery started to cry. "Daddy." She ran to her father and stood behind him. "Make mommy better. Can't you make mommy better?"Avery whispered softly looking up at her father. "I want mommy" Tears kept coming down her face.



"Just go away" Will said looking at her. "Its none of your business what happens to me." He was trying to protect her as good as he can.

Nick looked down at Avery, sighing then smoothed out her growing hair. "Daddy will be right back. I'm going to talk to mommy okay sweetie?" He asked knowing that she was not only worried about her mother but upset at how harsh Ruby was being with her. And about the whole thing really when it wasn't called for at all. Kissing her forehead then walking over to Ruby and pulling her with him back outside so that Avery didn't need to hear any of it.




"Yeah it is actually... I knew what I was getting myself into when I agreed to all of this. Not like I had any chose in the matter seeing as fate kind of took that out of our hands. But I knew the risk, and I took them. I don't know, maybe now you think I'm just some weak little thing, but I'm not. If that's what your so worried about."

Ruby looked at Nick. "What Nick?" She asked him coldly standing outside. "You have no right to pull me along I'm not some rag doll. I was saying she had to take her medicine before the stores close." She snapped. "So what's so important that you had to dragged me out of my house." Backing away from Nickm

"I never said you were weak. The only reason we mated was because my werewolf side was coming back. Now its not and I probably won't love you anymore."

"Yeah, actually I did. Your scaring our daughter and your acting like a brat. It doesn't matter if we go tonight or early in the morning. The store will still be there either way. I don't care if you go after me and accuse me of things I didn't do, or even yell at me for nothing. But you are not, and will not do that to Avery. Seeing as that is not okay. She doesn't understand, and thinks your mad at her." He told her staring straight at her. He could take her crap but Avery couldn't. And he was planning on making sure she knew that.



Yeah, just like that. Proof of what she had already suspected. Seeing as it was so close to what she'd heard Ruby say while she was under and Will was helping to get her out of it. Hearing the words Ruby had said before she had walked out of the bedroom. 'Poor thing. She doesn't even know it but her mate is turning into a vampire again-- he probably doesn't even love her anymore.' Yeah. Pretty damn close. And now she just felt like she'd been used. Used and forgotten about. She would of thought that her wolf would be angry at him, wanting him back... but even her wolf felt defeated. Like it had nothing left to fight for. Taking a minute to think about what she wanted to say now. What could she even say? Clearing her throat. "Guess I should of seen this coming... huh?"

Ruby looked at Nick and hissed at him. "You don't tell me what to do. I will speak my mind whether you like it or not Nick and there's nothing you can do about. It will not her to have some harsh words or actions in her life." She snapped. "She wants her poor pathetic emotional mother back and I'm not going to be that. I will not be that." Ruby was partly challenging him knowing full well he wouldn't force her to do anything. "Me with no emotions is better." There was problem with turning off emotions though no matter what you always feel emotions they never leave just suppressed.


Will looked down. "I'm trying to protect you as much as I can. If i told you this you would try to stop it. I don't want you to try to stop it. I don't want you to risk your life. If you can't see that then I'm sorry." He said softly. "I love you, but will not hurt you like I know it will"

"Doesn't mean I wont start if you keep treating our daughter like you did." He told her lifting an eyebrow. He knew what she was doing. Pushing him away, trying to get him to loose it. Everything just to get out of trouble. But he wasn't going to let it go if she kept treating their daughter like she had. "Maybe- but the way you did it was and is uncalled for. She's done nothing wrong. And she wants her mother back. Not the one that yells at her for every little thing she does and snaps orders."


Grace felt her eyes go soft. She didn't know if he was talking about becoming vampire again or something else. "Trying to protect me from what?"

Ruby looked at Nick and gave him a cold smile. "She's not going to get her mother back. If you guys can't see that I'm better this way then you guys obviously don't care about me enough." Ruby said tilting her head. "Maybe if she wouldn't act so pathetic then it wouldn't be such a problem." She snapped. "Emotions make people weak. It made me weak. If you can't see that then leave me." Ruby meant what she said. "Or even better yet I will leave you and then break the connection maybe then you would understand how I felt." A teeny bit of emotion came through as her voice cracked.


Will rolled his eyes. "If I leave now then it won't hurt as much when I say I don't love you anymore." He said. "I should be going."

Nick didn't miss the crack in her voice. Giving a small sinker, barely hearable. "Well, then how about if I save you the trouble and call Blake, meet him out in the woods away from the house. And have him kill me, that way you don't have to go threw the trouble of breaking the connection. Seeing as I know how painful it is for both of us." He said hoping that; that would be enough to snap her out of all of it. If not then he'd have to try something else.


"It wont matter, it's going to hurt either way.... either if you do it now. Or you wait and tell me a week or two from now. What am I suppose to do? Walk away, pretend like I never meet you? Pretend like I never found my mate, and go on trying to find someone else? Someone else I know I'll never be able to be as close to... someone else I know I'll never be able to love as much, knowing that you're out there but I'll never see you again?"

Ruby shurgged her shoulders. "Go ahead spare me the heart ache of everything. You don't really care about me. If you did you would be acting on your instincts to make sure I don't hurt the way that I do. You would help me, but all you say is I can't do that and expect me to move on and pretend to be happy and pretend that I want to fight." She snapped looking at him. "You don't see it do you? You really don't care about me." Her voice cracked again this time she caught herself.

Will shook his head. "People have multiple loves. Mates aren't real. You don't let what others say decided your destiny" Will looked at her. "You only love the werewolf side of me. Raven only loved the vampire side of me."

"Then why does you voice keep cracking? If you really didn't care at all it wouldn't be. I know you Ruby... how strong you are even when you don't think you are. So why don't you just give up the act already?" He said looking at her he hadn't missed any of the cracks that had leaked threw in her voice while they'd been talking.



"How can you even say that?? I never even got a chance to know the vampire side of you, and the little time that I did get to spend with you while you were one I was under order to not get to know you as a person, look for your weak spots... all that. But I didn't listen, I always looked at you, like a friend. Always tired to reach out, and help when I could.. "

"God, Nick I'm tired really tired why can't you see that I'm done fighting that I give up." Ruby said her voice softening a bit looking up at him. "I been fighting for over 5 years and just can't do it anymore. Then the recent events are putting me over the top." Tears ran down her face. "It seems like you don't care." She whispered.

Will shook his head. "Its not real. Trust me I did countless research hours for my job. Reading things over analyzing things. They want to make you believe werewolves mates are special and all so they can control you. You can call anyone your mate." He looked at her. "I'm protecting you from everything. I don't want you risking your life. You would go find that witch and then you would change like the legend said."

Nick saw when she finally cracked and her emotions came back. rather she'd turned them back on or not they were back. "I do care.... we talked about this when you came back and told me about the curse. Then we broke it. We get our happily ever after; after so long. Now all we need to worry about is getting Avery set for school, along with her birthday party and then we can start planning the wedding once things cool down." He said not understanding what else she wanted to hear.




Grace didn't believe that... not a chance. A hundred or so years ago they didn't know what mind control was and yet they still believed in mates and they were able to find each other. There was no control over them. Yeah maybe over the years they'd started to control them through their mates but, she didn't believe that they could just call anyone their mate. She'd been with others before. She'd dated people from the pack along with humans. And none of them had made her feel how he had when they had realized they were mates. Now he was telling her that it didn't matter because it wasn't real at all. Feeling her mouth drop open a little bit when he said that he was protecting her from everything. Because he didn't want her to change or go off and find the witch that the legend spoke of. "Is that why your worried? Why you keep pushing me away, because you think I'd go try to find the witch from the legend that helped them so many years ago?"

Ruby shook her head. "Something is going to ruin it everything gets ruin. There's still going to be war. We still going to have deal with the Elders. We still are going to have to worry about the hunters. I don't want to worry any more. I just want to be a normal female vampire now. They don't have to worry about anything, but making their mates happy. Can't I have little less to worry about? My parents never had this trouble when they were going to take the crown" she whispered. "Nick the blood ceremony will require us to kill a whole village. I know you won't be able to do it. "


Will glanced down. "Yes, I know you Grace. I know you so well tjat you would do anything to make sure I stay a werewolf. " will said.

"Then we'll deal with it when it comes. Let's just worry about the here and now. I know, but the hunters haven't come around in over six years. Yeah, but no one can really plan for war, not really until you know what to expect from the people your going up against... and the elders. Well. I don't think we'll be seeing them around for a while. I don't know why, but I just have this feeling that we wont. And then when the blood ceremony comes we'll do it. I might not like it, but I'll do it. If it means that you get the thrown and the crown." He told her resting his hands on her arms.



"Will, I don't even have a clue on where to start looking for her even if I wanted too. And I wouldn't of done that without coming to you to talk about it first."

Ruby glanced up him tears trickled down her face. "I'm a horrible person I hurt my little girl." She whispered crying into Nick's chest. "I'm sorry for being horrible. I don't like this weak person I became. I want to be the old me the girl who didn't get all emotional over everything." She held on Nick. "I hurt her Nick."


Will raised his eyebrows. "No you wouldn't Grace, you know what I would say." He looked at her. "You would go and do it any way."

"It's okay... She'll forgive you. She'll just be happy to have her mommy back. Your not a horrible person. Your one of the best people I've ever meet. " he whispered to her when she gripped onto him and held him.



"Yes I would of! And maybe I would of done it anyways, I don't know. Besides, where would I have even started looking? That legend is over a thousand years old Will."

Ruby smiled and relaxed against him. "Shopping can wait its getting late and Avery needs to get ready for bed." She whispered softly. "Which means mommy and daddy can have some alone time to themselves." She whispered in his ear. "Maybe daddy would like to share a nice romantic bubble bath with me" She smiled walking back to the house. Ruby knew she wasn't stable a lot of the time, but she been through so much and so had Nick and he still was her rock. "Avery sweetie time to get ready for bed."

"Mommy." She ran and hugged Ruby tightly. "Mommy feeling better."

"Mommy is feeling a lot better. Now will mommy's big girl take her medicine." Avery smiled and took the medicine.

Will shook his head. "Grace its you, you can find anything that you wanted to." He said looking up at her.

Nick had fallowed her at a slower pace and then watched from the doorway as Avery ran over to Ruby and hugged her. Smiling to himself. He'd known that she wouldn't care as long as she got her mother back she'd be happy. Seeing as she took the medicine.



Yeah, she was pretty good at finding things. But she also wasn't one to go digging around in old books either to help her get started on finding something. She was more of a recent book person when she did read. Biting her lip as she looked at him. "Maybe. But with that.... finding her, even if I had wanted too. I think that would even be beyond my findings."
