~Melissa~ | 5253 comments Glad you liked it Christal - I had several of the same issues and couldn't give a 5 star rating. Curran pissed me off just way too much in this one. I'm still looking forward to #7 though.

Review

For my choice this week, I went with the next book in the series after last week. I really am enjoying the Pride series and wish I had read it before now.
I really liked both main characters. Sara was a strong character, eager to move forward with her plans to open a bakery in town, in spite of a piece of her past coming back to haunt her via the ominous emails and breakins.

Allen was so gorgeous and such a nice guy! I love how protective he is of Sara. Makes me want an Allen of my own.

I also love how we get a glance of the other characters from the prior books. All too often, I've read series where each book focuses on one particular couple but there's little to no interaction with the previously featured couples. I love being able to see where they are with their relationships while getting to know new characters better.

There's still a few earlier books in the series that I haven't read yet, but I plan on adding them to my kindle soon.

finished: 3/4/14
stars: 4.5

Review:
Coming into the downside with chess and terrible is always compelling. always feeling like you want to take poor chess under your wing and take care of her is tough. i almost had high hopes for her at one stage. her relationship with terrible has it's highs and lows again and at times i want to slap them both. it's amazing how this woman functions the way that she does and there are some things in this book that sets the scene for some major changes in the next book!

I really enjoyed this novel. I thought the angel thing was really well done, and I thought the characters were well written. It was also quite funny, I giggle aloud on multiple occasions, which is not something I was expecting going in to it.

Week 8
Alternate: 2011
Read: The Goddess Test (Goddess Test, #1) by Aimee Carter 3 stars

This was one of those series that I was just sure I would fall in love with but after jumping the gun and buying the entire box set now that I've read the first book I'm not sure. This seemed to me to be a little more mature series than Percy Jackson (which I love) and it also takes place in part in Michigan which is one of my favorite places to read so it has the components of being one of my favorites but we will see. I am hoping that the story gets a little more exciting in book two. This is about a young girl in high school and her mother is battling cancer. Her wish is to return to her home for her last days so they move to Eden, Michigan. She wants to see her daughter fit in in her new home so she pushes her to meet people. Unfortunately, one of the first people she meets is a mean popular girl who tricks her into going with her to a "bonfire" to meet people that night. It is a set up and things get dicey from there. The story is based on the mythology around Persephone. I will continue with the series just to see if there is more to it but this book just seem to lag in a lot of places where it could have been written with a little more excitement.

Christal | 67 comments I think I will read The Secrets of Mia Danvers (Dangerous Liaisons, #1) by Robyn DeHart which is set in England. Should we plan to use our free pass this round?

message 213: by Belinda (new)

Belinda | 461 comments I was thinking that. It could be a good way to sneak in for a win ;) happy reading everyone!

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments You can't use the free pass now, it's giving you a free pass to roll. There's no more rolling now, it's basically just an insurance if you have a teammate that couldn't get done one week. With all the teams rolling for the win this week, it'll come down to who gets done first.

For England would Prince Caspian (Chronicles of Narnia, #2) by C.S. Lewis work? I'm pretty sure that's where they are when they aren't in Narnia

Review: so this starts up right after #5 with Salvatorre having been trapped by Caine and a (what he finds out is a Jinn) in tunnels under the cabin. He and Levet follow Caine's scent only to find Harley. His intended mate (one of the four purebred sisters). She has been told by Caine that Salvatorre has killed her sisters and she is next on his list to dispose of. Salvatorre has some explaining to do as well as a lot of convincing that he would be a good bet for Harley. It was good not great. The whole Briggs thing and his master was a little far fetched for me. I think I'm going to put this series on hold for a while.

Review

Really cute read about a high school junior who moves from Seattle to England with her family after dad gets a new job. Moving to a new town when you're 15 is hard enough but add moving to a new country to the mix and you've got a girl trying to find her way.

I enjoyed the book. Savannah is having a hard time making friends but she's determined to make it happen.

This is the first book in the London Confidential series, but I'll be continuing on with the series!
