I actually prefer series books as well. It seems like the characters are developed so much more over the life of the series. You get to know them better......

I love series too! I was really into the Heather Wells series by Meg Cabot...but then after a while I stopped right before the last book and moved on to read something else. I need to pick it back up!!

I keep telling myself I'm not going to start a new series until I'm caught up in all of the ones I've already started. But I'm constantly breaking my own rule. And I'm terrible with keeping up with FictFact.com. I got on there the other day and updated my series with what I've read, but then I ended up adding a bunch more. I have over 200 series on the list to read or finish reading.

I am reading the second book right now and OMG......it is as creepy & messed up as the first one.....I love it!I would recommend the Heather Wells series by Meg Cabot--it's really good!
On a different note: has anyone read Lauren Oliver before? I am listening to Vanishing Girls on audio right now and I am not impressed. I am about halfway through, and I keep waiting for it to get better, but so far.....just ehhhh.
Hello! First thanks everyone. I have finished radiation therapy and am healing. I had two spots on the PET scan they are concerned about. I was cleared on one spot. I had the extreme delight to have my first colonoscopy and endoscopy. They found many polyps and want to have emergency surgery. I am waiting to complete some tests and then meet with the surgeon. I hate to update you all like this but I feel like I end up playing catch up after finishing a major therapy. I will also be moving. Stacy when did you want me to do that challenge again?
If it is for the next one let me know and I can work on it next weekend.
Suzanne I hope your job search is going well. I totally understand about being in a slump. I feel that way currently myself.

So ladies after much stress I have quit my job to focus a bit on home and the baby all the while doing a job search. I'm excited and scared all rolled into one but it was necessary. Only one more week then I'm taking one day to just read and relax before I scour my house. Been wanting to do some writing too. Wish me luck...

The Stephanie Plum series (by Janet Evanovich) and the Charley Davidson series (by Darynda Jones) are really great! Funny, easy reads. :)

Just stopping by to say "hi". I've been reading everyone's posts. I'm currently on my 4th week of bronchitis and a sinus infection-finally feeling better after 2 rounds of antibiotics and prednisone.I have a questions for everyone about reading a series of books. Have you ever been reading a series and then all of a sudden have a hard time getting through a book? I've been reading the Dead-End Job series by Elaine Viets. I loved books 1-9. I'm on number 10 and having a hard time getting through it. Trying to figure out if I should go on to the next book in the series or give it up.

My plan tonight after work, though, is to do exactly that – read and relax!! I also want to watch Secret in Their Eyes with Julie Roberts and Nicole Kidman. Has anyone seen that yet? The previews looked SO GOOD!

I just requested the first one from the library. :) I haven’t read the Stephanie Plum series at all…I think it’s just because there so many books that I feel overwhelmed by it. Haha. Did you read them all at once or do you read one, read something else, then come back and read the next one in the series? Let me know what you recommend.
Jill – I totally know how you feel. I LOVED the Enchanted Inc series, but when I got to the 7th book I had a hard time getting through it. I did end up finishing it, though, and loving it! I hope she’s planning on writing a new one. I read all of the Heather Wells series but the last one. I really liked it at first and then after a while I got tired and had to read something else. I need to go back and finish it.
Good afternoon! Here is the good news. I got a phone call and they confirmed that I don't have cancer in my colon. I still have to have surgery. I am enjoying this weekend off. Here is why: 1. I just did my taxes and I will actually be getting money back.
2. No MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS!

For those of you who do audiobooks the Stephanie Plum series except for book three is great on audio! I will keep you posted on the other. Please keep my mother in your prayers she had surgery to replace her shunt today.

I had that problem with the middle of the Pretty Little Liars series. It kind of got to a point where it felt like she was grasping at straws to keep the series going. But I stuck with it and the books picked back up and I devoured them as quickly as I could after the new ones were released. :)

There are a lot of books in the Stephanie Plum series, but they'll go really fast. Because of the challenges, I don't often have the opportunity to binge on a book series like I do TV shows. ;) (Latest obsession is Awkward, has anyone else watched that? "You're welcome." LOVE IT!!)
I try to not let too much time pass in between books, but some series I just can't seem to get back to no matter how much I want to. I have two paranormal/faerie series that I want to get back to, but haven't been able to. The last time I read a book in either of those series was probably close to three years ago. :(

Mom, Seems to be doing well. The headaches she had from her shunt not working has been resolved. Pain from surgery is another problem all together. Thanks everyone!

So, here's my random thought for today. I'm just now reading Bridget Jones's Diary...for the very first time!!!I'm only a few pages in, but I can tell I'm going to like it. I don't know how I let all this time go by without picking up such a classic chick lit book! Did you guys who have read it like it?
Anyway, does anyone have any fun plans for the weekend? Tomorrow it's supposed to be a high of 75 and Sunday a high of 82, so I'm definitely going to try to make it to the pool. :)
I haven't read it either Bianca!Weekend plans include getting our trailer ready for camping season, planting flowers, and we are going on a couples date night with a bunch of our friends tomorrow night.

I'm literally laughing out loud as I read your post about going to the pool, Bianca. This has been the worst spring break weather we've had in a long time. It's been cold and sanity (snowy+rainy) all week. Woke up to about 2 or 3 inches of snow this morning that fell overnight. Of course, the sun is out and a lot of it is melting, but the high for today is only 34. Tomorrow is 50, so it should all be melted by Monday. If we can just make it through Tuesday, the temps look like they're finally going to be on an up trend instead of the up and down trend we've had for the past few.....months, I guess.
No big plans for us this weekend, other than we're starting the 21 Day Fix on Monday. Hoping it will help us learn how to eat better (more natural/organic foods rather than pre-processed and packaged garbage) and, of course, lose weight. Just bought the Ninja 1500 System, and we're pretty excited about using it. I'm more excited about being able to make smoothies and stuff for breakfast again. I did that a couple years ago for a while, and they were pretty filling. Plus, it's a great way to get veggies and fruit all at once. :)
My weekend has consisted of sitting at a robotics tournament all weekend with a bunch of high school kiddos. I'm looking forward to not having to be up tomorrow by 5 am and maybe fitting some reading in between all of the loads of laundry I have to do.
Jencey - so glad to hear you don't have colon cancer! How are things going now with you and your mom? I don't listen to audio books as my mind wanders too much to focus on the story. Same goes for watching TV - It's rare I can just sit and watch. I usually do something else while watching TV (for instance - right now The Wonder Years is currently playing next to me. I'm on the last 2 episodes. And why was Kevin such an ass in the last season? I stopped watching it when I was younger and I'm glad I did. He's a tool!)
Bianca - I've read the first Bridget Jones, but I need to read the follow ups. I wasn't over the moon about it, but it was a decent read. Sarah Mylnowski is the author that got me hooked on chick lit :)
We just got back from 2 weeks of travel - London, Scotland and then Ohio. Stacy - YIKES! It was FREEZING! Technically below freezing as it was snowing and 28 degrees. My daughter couldn't handle it and kept making these noises to indicate she wanted to be inside and warm. I don't blame her!
Now we are home, the dogs are home, and she is in daycare so I can finish the book I'm reading, apply for some jobs and do some errands.
Has anyone heard from Suzanne? I hope she's doing ok...

I don't remember watching all of The Wonder Years when it was originally on. I watched a good deal of it because I had a huge crush on Fred Savage, but I think when I grew out of that, I stopped watching. I did recently re-start watching it on Netflix, but I think I'm only on season two.

By the way.....if you like Game of Thrones, you'd probably really like the book in reading now. The Iron King by Maurice Druon. It inspired the author of The Game of Thrones. It's hard to keep the characters straight but I'm sure I'll get used to it. I've already bought the second book in the series!

I was super excited about the show coming back on last week, but careful to not have any expectations. I was all hyped up and ready for season five last year, and when the first episode was over, I was so disappointed. I understood the need to kind of recap where everyone was, but NOTHING HAPPENED to really advance any of the storylines. Last week, I was pleasantly surprised at a few of the storylines, and I'm excited for what's in store tonight! :)
Hi! I know it has been a while. I have lived for three months not knowing when I would have surgery. I could not plan anything. I have had my appraisal at work and got mostly meets standards and exceed standards so that is good. Back to the surgery front. I ended up seeing two different general surgeons because I am also having gynecology do a surgery. I have been working with Emory hospital. The surgeons can't go to just any campus. I am glad for the switch because the General Surgeon handling my case now is in the same practice as my breast surgeon. I was told the next surgery would be on the 15th of July only to recently learn yesterday that it was moved to the 8th of July. The problem you ask? I have to have papers back to my work to allow me to be off for recovery. Mom has had two more surgerys to unclog the shunt. The doctor would not see her initially thinking nothing wrong. The sad part is she has to go to Florida for the medical community to take her seriously. Once they did a shunt series of cat scans and one surgery to move the other end of the shunt to her heart for drainage. They sent her home again to come back finding the shunt clogged in two different places.
So I hope you all are doing well!

Hi! I hope everyone has been having a good summer. We've been busy and not getting much summer reading done. I found out a couple of weeks ago that I have a new job next year as an Educational Diagnostician-I do all of the Special Ed. testing and report writing. I am so excited. It took 3 1/2 years to find my dream job after grad school. I go back to work in a month and hopefully can squeeze in some extra reading time!
Hellooooooo everyone! It feels good to be back on here. :) Things have been really busy but also really good. Working, wedding planning, hanging out, family in town, all that fun stuff :) So I have been VERY behind on my reading, but I’m finally getting back into the swing of it.Am I crazy for not loving Bridget Jones’s Diary? From the movie previews forever ago I already knew who she ended up with, but I didn’t think the book was very climactic or attention grabbing. Idk. Maybe it’s just me. I watched the movie over the weekend as soon as I finished the book and still feel “meh” about it. Haha. I’m going to read the other 2 books and we’ll see how they go.

Here's my random thought of today:
Most of the books I am reading lately are a part of a series. This struck me last night as I finished up the last book in the Airhead series by Meg Cabot. After finishing up Secrets of My Hollywood Life series, There's Cake in My Future, Allie Finkle, The Lying Game, and now I'm about to start the Gallagher Girls series. And I still have quite a few series to read - finish the Lying Game, Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants, Gossip Girl, The Fame Game (Lauren Conrad), Abandon (Meg Cabot), Matched, Heist Society and a couple of RDI series (The Pact series and Sophie Katz series).
Do I even own any standalone books anymore?!
