Julie wrote: "So Stacy.....what did you think of Game of Thrones season finale? Dustin was disappointed that it was only an hour long. Now what's he going to do? He'll have to find another show to binge watch! LOL"

I. Was. SO. MAD!!!!!! This show is like an abusive relationship and I just keep coming back for more. *sigh* It was only an hour this time, I noticed that, but they covered a ton in that short time frame. I like how they've reviewed the episode afterwards the the last couple of times. It's kind of a better understanding of what's going on in the show.

I can make a suggestion for Dustin - Daredevil on Netflix is pretty good if he hasn't watched that yet. Thanks to my BF, I'm all about all the Marvel characters. Looking forward to Antman coming out in theatres soon! The title is so stupid, but it's Marvel, it has Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas, so you know it's going to be great!

Kourtney (readthateventually) | 1215 comments Completely random:

I am currently reading The Lying Game series by Sara Shepard (author of the Pretty Little Liar series). The number one complaint I always heard in reading that series was "would you just finish the series already! This has gone on long enough! Stop trying to milk the cow and get to the end already!!"

I'm on book 3 of this series, and still have 3 more books to go before I get to the end of the series. I'm having these same thoughts! How in the world am I going to make it through 3 more of these before finding out the ending?! Get to the point already! Sheesh! I don't think I'll be reading any more of her series at this point.

I haven't started that one yet, but I've read The Heiresses and The Perfectionists (only the first book in both) and liked those.

Bianca (bbollinger) | 761 comments I haven’t been on a while, and I’ve missed you guys!!! It’s always nice to get back on and read through all these past conversations and remember exactly why I love being in this group so much.

Jency – I’m so sorry you’re going through that. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. If you haven’t watched Lost yet, I HIGHLY recommend it. I always got lost (haha) in the moment while watching it. Seriously, I couldn’t think about anything else. On the weekends when I made myself get away from the TV and hang with friends, I’d be sitting there bouncing up and down thinking "Lost Lost Lost Lost Lost Lost Lost Lost Lost" in my head over and over. And sometimes I would say that to my boyfriend who watched it with me as well haha. So anyway, I recommend Lost. And Dawson’s Creek, Gilmore Girls, Friends (favorite show of all time), The Office, The Walking Dead and American Horror Story. Those are good at capturing all my attention.

Kourtney – congrats on the baby!!! And extra exciting that you had books waiting for you at home. :)

Stacy – love Game of Thrones! My boyfriend got me hooked on it. Yeah, it sucks that they do one season a year. They should do one spring and one summer season or something.

Suzanne – congrats!! Yay!!! That sounds like a really cute proposal. :)

Bianca (bbollinger) | 761 comments Random thought: are any of you coffee drinkers? I don't really drink it - if I'm tired, I just power through it. Earlier this week I was REALLY tired at like 4pm, and I had to do something at work that requires a lot of attention and detail-oriented work. So I grabbed some iced coffee from Starbucks. I also don't like soda, but I had some that evening and I could NOT sleep at night. OMG. It was terrible!!! My body was sooooooo tired but my mind was wide awake. So today I'm obviously exhausted from not sleeping, but if I go get coffee I'm afraid I'll be up all night again. Haha it's a vicious cycle!!

message 962: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 767 comments They've started showing Dawson's Creek reruns on tv, and my sister and I are thinking about rewatching the whole series. I also might rewatch Felicity.

I drink coffee, but only iced and/or stuff like lattes and frappuccinos. Coffee can help wake me up (I need it in the mornings!), but I can also fall asleep an hour after drinking it. ha.

message 963: by Kourtney (new)

Kourtney (readthateventually) | 1215 comments Ohhh Felicity would be a good one to rewatch! I have all the DVD's somewhere. Right now I'm binge watching Hart of Dixie and watching Grey's Anatomy with Scott. It's really hard to watch an episode from start to finish without having to do something for the baby!

Bianca - I don't drink coffee but having gone 10 months without any caffeine I thought I was having a heart attack when I drank half a root beer! My heart started racing and I got a bit flushed. Needless to say that adrenaline boost kept me up!

message 964: by Bianca (new)

Bianca (bbollinger) | 761 comments I've never seen Felicity! I really want to, but it's not on Netflix. I'm going to see if Half Price Books has it for really cheap.

Hart of Dixie was really good. I binge watched the first few seasons and then watched the last one while it aired. I was so sad when it ended!

Still haven't seen Greys...there are SO many seasons that i feel like watching it would drain all of my free time haha as well as keep me from reading!

Of all those shows that have been recently mentioned, I've only seen Friends and The Office. My daughter expressed an interest in Friends, so we've been watching that. Sometimes I wonder if she gets the sexual references and innuendos, but I don't think she does yet. I don't say anything because I don't want to make a big deal out of it and have her start asking questions if she doesn't know what they're referring to. LOL

And The Office, I tried to get her to watch that. We watched a couple of episodes and it bored her. I just finished Gossip Girl earlier this week (I'm actually kind of sad it's over, the actors/director/producer did a great job and I feel like I actually knew the characters), so last night I started back on The Office. I watched it religiously the first few years it was on TV, but then, I lost track of what time/day it was on and I'd only catch it here and there. So re-watching it from the beginning is fun. Especially after reading/listening to Mindy Kaling's book, Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?. There's a chapter in there on the show and I was surprised to find out she was a writer for the show when it first started. I thought she was just an actress.

We're leaving today for a weekend mini-vacation. I'm not sure how it's going to turn out as we are staying at a casino. I have been assured by Greg that there will be plenty of stuff for the kids to do. But I looked up the town online and I don't see a whole lot of anything for kids other than the pool at the casino, the beach, and fishing. Which, fishing? Yeah, not going to happen. I'm sure after the weekend is over, my statement that if there is a casino in Michigan, there is nothing else to do in that town, will stand firm. Hopefully there are some things we can do a little further north in Traverse City.

Originally, we wanted to take the kids the Mackinaw Island, but that whole trip will be pretty pricey and we just can't do it right now, unfortunately. But, at least we're getting away somewhere for the weekend. Hope everyone has a great one!

message 972: by Jencey/ (new)

Jencey/ (jencey) | 754 comments Stacy have fun on your trip. I will highly recommend if it becomes in your budget to do Mackinaw Island. I went as a kid and there is a lot to do there. You also will get lots of exercise.

So what is fun and interesting this week. I had my first chemo with the new drug. Has anyone ever had a reaction to something you have taken in a major way. I have had 4 nights of insominia. Mine I think came from IV Benadryl.

I haven't been able to follow the fall television lineup anything new or good coming?

Thanks Jencey, the trip was a lot better than I thought it was going to be, and the kids had fun too. It wasn't in the budget for Mackinaw - hoping to do that next summer. I did learn how to play blackjack and didn't do terribly. Didn't do great either because I was too conservative with my bets. I'd say I probably came out about even. Other than that, we did a few things, but mostly were able to relax, which was a nice change of pace.

I hope the insomnia has ceased for you, that really sucks. But everything is going according to plan otherwise, I hope?

Fall lineup....the only show I can remember coming out is Supergirl or something like that because my daughter wants to watch it. Oh, and football! :) A week from Saturday is Notre Dame's first game!!!! GOOOOO IRISH!!!!!

message 976: by Kourtney (new)

Kourtney (readthateventually) | 1215 comments Jencey - even though you now have insomnia, is the new drug working? How are you feeling now? Even though I've been MIA I've been thinking about you wondering how you were doing!

We moved our lil family into a new house and discovered it is REALLY difficult to unpack and clean with a newborn! I have her on her activity mat right now and she is enthralled with the butterflies on her mobile as they light up. I have 6 more weeks of the longest maternity leave ever and will start looking for work-from-home opportunities to help bring in money. And still unpacking! One of the first things we did was build our new bookshelves (we have a whole room just for our books and couches to read on!!!! Wheeeeee!!) and unpack our books. I have TONS of books compared to Scott! Yikes!

We also had Katherine diagnosed with acid reflux and lactose intolerance. We got her medicine for the reflux and switched her to a soy formula and that seems to be working, only now she has constipation from switching formulas! It's been difficult to say the least. She cries. She screams. I cry. I scream. She is in pain. That hurts me to watch. Ugh.

message 977: by Jencey/ (new)

Jencey/ (jencey) | 754 comments Stacy, Your welcome! I am glad that you enjoyed the other location. I know that I too can be very conservative with blackjack. Caution is sometimes good!

Kourtney, Good to hear from you! I hope the packing goes a little smoother for you. I hope your baby can have a stronger stomach as she gets older. It is interesting though what you listed about her condition.

So here is my update. The insominia is gone. The doctor prescribed something stronger for me to sleep with. It turns out I had a reaction to IV Benadryl and am no longer getting that drug. I have two more chemos and I am finished. I am not looking forward to having it this weekend. We also got information back from the geneticist. It confirmed somethings we as a family already knew. I inherited the cancer from my mother's side of the family.

message 978: by Julie (new)

Julie Glad you're almost done with your treatment Jencey.....thinking of you & sending you healing thoughts!

Kourtney, my oldest son was notorious for projectile vomiting his formula all over the place.....even after I switched him to soy formula. Now his son, my 17-month old grandson Brock, has been diagnosed with acid reflux. He is off formula though at his age, so it's not as bad. He is on prescription medication for it though. All I can say is hang in there.....it will get easier and believe it or not you will miss these baby times when Katherine grows up.

Hope you all have a wonderful day! :)

Jencey, that's great! I'm glad you're getting some sleep. I hope the rest of your treatment plan works out well for you, and I know we're all sending healthy vibes your way.

Kourt - that sucks, poor little peanut. I have GERD but didn't start that until a few years after having Morgan. I can't imagine having to suffer through at at Katherine's age. And I know it's stressful for you knowing that your baby is in pain. It's still rough for me when Morgan is sick, and I know my mom still worries about me when I'm sick, even though I tell her not to. Being a parent is hardest at these times because there's nothing you can do other than what the doctor says. Those are the times when I really want a magic wand to wish it away. :(

On another note, it's college football season. Who's excited besides me? I think this has become my favorite time of year. Notre Dame had their first game last night against the Texas Longhorns and we came away victorious. I'm apprehensive about this season because we've lost so many awesome players over the past couple of years, so the team is relatively young. But our new QB (who was the back up QB last year) has been great! And it looks as though we have a few other players that could be rising stars.

Looking forward to an interesting and hopefully victorious season!!

Kourtney (readthateventually) | 1215 comments Oh man! If only acid reflux and constipation were our problems now! We have done 3 ER visits I'm 3 days. First she had a fever of 103 and we were told pneumonia. Our doctor didn't trust the diagnosis when that night she got too dehydrated so we were sent to a different hospital. There we were told no pneumonia but she had a virus of some sort. Then when we thought everything was good she developed a rash when a doctor called us saying something came back on her blood culture that could be something but it might not be. Yes they were that cryptic. My poor girl has been poked prodded and bruised beyond belief. She seems to be ok now. I finally slept last night as I crashed from exhaustion.

Needless to say, I haven't been reading too many books lately. Scott is off to London for 2 weeks (we were supposed to go too but not anymore). Maybe I can read while she sleeps?

Couple more weeks and she starts daycare. I'm scared!

Things have been ok on this side of the world - and no Stacy we never received an answer about her blood culture. She seems to be healthy now. Just back to her constipation issues which I'm trying to deal with. Her dad is overseas since last weekend and it's been a long week. One more week to go on our own and then we pick him up from the airport and I down a bottle of wine!

Kourtney - that is really odd, they should've gotten back to you on that. I mean, I guess no news is good news, but still......

Safe travels to Scott! I have a couple bottles of wine in the fridge I can drink for you if that helps. ;)

The Sherlock series is awesome! I think we still have the last episode of season two to watch. You're talking about the British version, right? It kinda makes me want to read the books too, but I probably won't ever get round to them.

message 988: by Kourtney (new)

Kourtney (readthateventually) | 1215 comments Yes it was the British series I was watching. We bought so many of the Barnes and Noble classic books for our shelves so we have the complete works of Sherlock Holmes. It's a big one! Maybe one day, but first I'm going to try and clear off some of my shelves that have been around for years (and now it takes forever for me to read a chapter much less a whole book!)

And drink a few bottles for me! I can't really drink as I'm on baby duty 100% of the time and after 3 ER visits I'm too scared to not be able to jump in the car at any time. I did get to go to a happy hour as I will be returning to work sooner than planned and needed to play nicey nice with my coworkers. My parents watched her for a couple of hours. One beer never tasted so good!

Bianca wrote: "I think I have a book hoarding problem. Haha. I keep checking out more books from the library and buying more from Amazon/other book stores even though I currently have SO MANY that I haven't read ..."

LOL, I feel your pain. I used to have TONS of unread books until I got sick of moving them every time I moved. Which wasn't often, but often enough for me to say no more. I got rid of all the ones I could get from the library. No point in having them if I can just get them there.

And you're right, sometimes it is really hard to decide what to read next. That's why I started the challenges so many years ago. I figured if I had a set list of books to try to get through, I wouldn't waste a bunch of time trying to figure out what to read next. It works for me for the most part, but then I sometimes have to decide which book to read if there's more than one that I really want to read right now.

Baby started daycare for 4 hours/day this week! Mommy cried yesterday and today (day 2) was a bit better. No tears for me. She's now cleaned up and sleeping away. As for what to do while I'm home alone? I've been reading of course! I took a long bubble bath and finished up a book I didn't really like that I wanted to get rid of, and then read some more of the 11th Princess Diaries book (which I'm loving!) Feels good to be able to breathe a bit and get some reading done!
