Yup, that's it right there. That was my Ruby frustration and pacing/dragging issues too. The first half is a bit hard to get through but the second half is pretty good. I'm hoping that the second book is much better on all counts because I really want to know what happens next for all of them.

Danielle (Danniegurl) (danniesreads) | 1326 comments Seriously who has read this series Dangerous Games (Riley Jenson Guardian, #4) by Keri Arthur ??? Cause I love it but Riley is frustrating the hell out of me. I mean it's super super annoying how she continually dismisses Quinn and what they have. Anyone? I need to share my misery.

LMAO! Oh sweetie, I'm sorry that you feel so lonely in your wallowing. Wish I could be there with you but i haven't gotten to this one yet. I have them sitting in my library but haven't gotten around to them yet. Hope it gets better. Maybe take a break from her frustrating persona and read something else for a bit. You know to cleanse your reading pallet and maybe keep your sanity :D

Rachel's Book Reviews (rachelsbookreviews) | 8 comments I stopped reading Ruined (The Eternal Balance, Book One) by Jus Accardo
It totally wasn't my cup of tea. Nothing made rational sense.

and to be honest, the thought process of the heroine was kind of twisted. :P blech.

I've moved on to Masque of the Red Death (Masque of the Red Death, #1) by Bethany Griffin which is original! It's twisted too, but in the good way. haha :P

I loved VA, but I love Bloodlines more. And you have to read VA to get some of the context for BL sooooo while they might not be great, personally I had a lot of feels for the book and loved the wittiness of it, I would continue only for you to get to BLs.

They aren't bad, there is a lot of info I forget all that happens in the next 3 books but it's good stuff to me, frustrating but overall good. But trust me on this I highly recommend finishing just to read bloodlines. Sydrian is more swoon worthy than Dimitri and rose.

I stayed away from anything having to do with it until after I read it. I did not want any spoilers at all. Interested to hear what you think I really enjoyed it. I had a few issues with things, but overall I thought it was a good read and understood why Roth wrote it the way she did.

Hmmm. You may have convinced me. I actually picked up Bloodline first and realized that I needed to read VA series first cuz I had no idea who they were talking about. That's why I started VA. it's possible things can get rather stale. I use my fillers for that like my werewolf books where they find their mate cause they are typically minimal plot steaminess and quick easy reads. Then I'm able to go back. I had to do it with the Riley Jenson series I'm reading lol cause I've read them back to back and I'm on book 5. But I say get through it because it helps you understand some things in Bloodlines. I will say though that the fiery heart was not as good as it should have been. But I suspect silver shadows will more than make up for it. Which that comes out in July.

Ester - I have to agree w/Danielle: BL is soooo goood! And you prob should read VA first, so you can understand the backstory when Rose/Dimitri/Sydney/Adrian all come together. I totally didn't like the last book, but... well, it wasn't horrible, I just didn't like that things were left un-done... I guess that's why we have BLs. :)

Ami E. Bowen (skayda) | 27 comments My best friend turned me on to Tamora Pierce and I just finished with "The Song of the Lioness" quartet and am now just starting the last book in the "Immortals" quartet; "In The Realm of the Gods". They are really good fantasy stories with very likable characters and stories. In "The Song of the Lioness" a girl named Alanna dresses like a boy to trade places with her twin brother in order to take his place at the palace to train as a Knight, the first female in their land to do so. In the "Immortals" a young girl named Daine has Wild Magic and with it can commune with animals and take on their shape.

Danielle (Danniegurl) (danniesreads) | 1326 comments As much as Riley annoys me I haven't gotten burnt out on this series yet. I think that's cause I'm holding out for Quinn. Which he's supposed to be in the next book so hopefully something comes of it.

With that said I just finished Embraced By Darkness (Riley Jenson Guardian, #5) by Keri Arthur which was book 5 now onto The Darkest Kiss (Riley Jenson Guardian, #6) by Keri Arthur number 6

Same feeling for me on both Tracy. Blood Red Road surprised me. Took me a bit to get used to the dialect and MC but once I did I ended up liking it a lot. And Crewel was just okay. It has an interesting premise but the execution of the story sort of fell flat by the end. Haven't read the second book for either of them yet. Not sure if I will though.
