Some Kind of Fairy Tale is very good. But since you're partial to the horror, I'd recommend Joyce's The Tooth Fairy as a better place to start.

A lot of blue covers,right? Definitely check out Barron -- I'm a huge, unapologetic fangirl. But his short stories, they just bowl me over every time.
