The reason I'm reporting here is because this is the dedicated topic and I know some script changes had come out of it. I was hoping Sarah or someone else is still following it. But I will take your advice and post in the Feedback group.

lethe | 16359 comments #449-450 It looks like ingram, or onix ingram, imported the title and onix brilliance "corrected" it later to 'Third Kingdom, The'.

I've seen before that bots keep changing each other's info.

Yep, there is some sort of preference on which bots can over right which.

Empress (the_empress) Amazon over-writing user uploaded cover:

(Mar 2015)

That is because the user added the cover in 2009, before we had the system which gives preference to user-added data.

Empress (the_empress) It seems other are noticing increased activity in Amazon over-writing images: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

If you read the thread carefully and look at the actual edits it is not updating user-uploaded covers, they were updating import uploaded covers.

Yes, both are happening and I think both are causing issues.

Updating import loaded covers is a problem for 2 reasons: first, a member may have an edition with the original cover; second, an ACE may have already been created with the newly uploaded cover.

Yes I understand that, I was addressing the issue of overwriting user-uploaded photos which is what the person was talking about.

Ayshe | 3084 comments Sarah wrote: "Ah cover images. We had a few of Amazon's generic 'no cover' images blacklisted so they wouldn't be imported, but since images are often uploaded by merchants, we couldn't screen for all of them.

If you see more of these, can you let me know their GR book IDs/ASINs? We might be able to expand the blacklist to get rid of useless non covers."

Does this apply for the 'no image available' covers?
A recent upload: https://www.goodreads.com/book/edits/...

Apologies if this has been discussed somewhere else, I searched and couldn't find it.

Ayshe | 3084 comments And an image upload with 'Copyrighted Material' label: https://www.goodreads.com/book/edits/... (#85733197)

message 464: by lethe (new)

lethe | 16359 comments Yes, Amazon uses that label more and more often, it seems. Very annoying (and ugly).

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) | 96 comments It IS ugly :( I prefer the default Goodreads cover image missing.

Ayshe | 3084 comments And the title of the book also gets added as an author:

Because that's how it's listed on Amazon.

Linda Marie (lgilliam) | 3 comments Thanks for YOUR IMPORTANT connection.
My newly published book is everywhere else but on Good Reads???? Is there a reason?

I am currently residing in Portland trying to change how we teach boys for more success and less aggression.SEE ATTACHMENTS/

What error message did you get when you tried to add it?

You might want to try asking a librarian (this is the right help desk group, wrong thread) to add it for you if encountering problems and let them know the errors/problems you encountered. A good thread is the adding new books thread at https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group... (just start a new topic for your specific book and explain).

This thread is mostly librarians reporting issues they see in their changelogs from specific large data feed when the amazon feed was reinstated to goodreads -- which your book may or may not have been on (extremely unlikely if it was recently published but you can ask your publisher when and which onix or other data feeds they submitted your book to if you think it's an issue with the data import--it may or may not be a feed goodreads gets and may or may not be impacted by data issues on this thread).

If your book being "everywhere" means it is also on amazon.com then when the amazon.com feed runs and the goodreads caches all catch up then it will eventually show up here. If you don't want to wait, either add it yourself or ask someone to add for you.

Are you saying you did add it but now it has been deleted?

message 470: by Linda (new)

Linda Marie (lgilliam) | 3 comments You are so wonderful to respond!
Each time I try to add it...probably not doing it correctly..it just reads "no results for search"...

So Can you suggest someone to do it that is a librarian.
This is so frustrating to me..

Debbie's Spurts (D.A.) | 6325 comments LINDA MARIE wrote: "..no results for search..."

That sounds like you are trying to search for it rather than trying to add a new book to goodreads.

If so, look towards upper right of that screen and you'll see a link to manually add a new book. (clicking that should take you to http://www.goodreads.com/book/new, you can click the link I just gave you or if none of those works search under help screens for how to add a new book and get to the same link that way -- or you can post a request in the book threads of this group asking for a librarian to help you).

Not trying to make you bounce around all over this group and confuse a newish member. But, if a librarian isn't making a bug report about an issue with previous year's large data import, they will not likely be looking on this thread so your request could be buried for weeks. You can email staff but they don't usually work weekends, so again, not likely to get to your request for a while. I answered because it sounds like you needed more urgent attention ...quickest way to add book is do it yourself or create a new topic to get a new book added by a goodreads librarian.

Goodreads librarians regularly monitor this group; just unlikely to be expecting a request to be posted in this bug reporting section. (Any suggested librarians wouldn't necessarily be working right now; any librarians looking for requests and onlline right now will see your request to add a new book if posted on the book threads).

Hayley Just to clean up these recent posts, Linda created a thread a few hours ago, and I added the book when I saw it. Just came across these comments now, so thought I should say as much, that it's done now :P
