2014 Personal Challenge
For fear of spamming you guys right away I want to say good luck to everyone. I can't wait to see what you all read (:
Not spam at all Adriana. I have enjoyed when you have stopped by my list and encouraged me or made comments about books I have read! It is fun to see what others read.
GOOD LUCK EVERYONE! This is going to be my first year and I have added it to my new years resolution :D:D
My goal for 2014 is 30 books. Good luck to everyone reaching our goals!! Thanks to all who volunteer time to make this so much fun.
My goal was 35 in 2013, and I met that plus a few more, so I am going for 40 for 2014. Good luck to everyone else!
My goal will be 75 in 2014. My goal was 2013 was 50, but I'm at 55 or so now. Hopefully I meet my goal!
My goal will be 20 books, I've almost made my goal this year I set it at 15 I think I'll get just at that or a bit over
Hi all! Some of you might remember me, I have been away from Goodreads for months now, had a baby so haven´t really been reading, but decided today to make a little time for reading again and finally finished Neil Gaiman´s The Ocean at the End of the Lane today (which I started to read in July before the baby). Very much liked it, like many of his books.I will have a very little amount for my goal for 2014, one book a month, hopefully I will make it :) Good luck with your challenges!
I'm going for 100 books again - same goal as this year. I have gone over my goal by 10 books this year but as next year I'm participating in a challenge which involves longer books, I think it might be best to stick with 100.
Congratulations Johanna! I can imagine that you wouldn't have as much time for reading.@Sarah, I don't know how people can read over 100 books. I struggled to get to 65. I am not quite there yet but will get there before the New Year.
To be honest Jodi, I'm not sure how I managed it either. This is the most I've ever read in a year and my original target was 50 books and I had to keep increasing it!
My goal is 250 books for 2014. My original goal for 2013 was 50 books, but I increased it about three times. I finished my goal of 150 books sometime last month. I still can't believe I managed to read that much with a busy schedule!
My goal is 100! Hopefully I can even go over that amount. I've downloaded about 176 ebooks so far to kick off 2014. Overall, I'll be okay at only finishing at least 60 because then I know I tried. I'm extremely excited to read new novels from new genres and just expand my mind through books!
For 2013, I decided to try to read a book a month and I'm at 18 books now. I think for this next year instead of setting a number goal, I'm going to start with a list I found of 2013's bestsellers and back-track a bit, while occasionally reading new 2014 releases.
I met my 2013 goal of 26 books, and surpassed it by a few, too. So while I have said that I was going for 26 books again, I'd like to increase it to be at least as much as I have read this year. I'll update with definitive numbers on January 01, but right now, I'd estimate…37.
My goal for 2014 is 140 books. Among them I want to read are:
I also need to read my 30 library books I have checked out and the 10 I have on reserve and the 10 I am currently reading. These are all for starters!
For the life of me, apple gives me "an error 404". when I tapped folder,
so my goal is to still do 150+ for 2014. If I can read 4 books in one week and it's Wednesday , I think I can do it.
Your only as successful as you see yourself.
I've tried setting low goals, but I need to push myself and have these books that have been on my iPad for years, read and cleared. If I settle , you get comfortable. I don't have children, and I want to feel that sudden 10 mile stride from school and back without a stitch.
On my apple iPad, I don't know how to develop folders. Do I goggle it? The outline is different. Please send a generic list to put my 2014 list on a folder. Please have patience, they keep updating good reads.
Thanks! Lis

Lisa, you bring up a great point. I just tested it too, and there doesn't seem to be a way to add threads through the Goodreads iOS app. That's bizarre. I'm sorry, but it looks like you'll need to log on through your browser, Lisa, to add a thread.
Oh, no no, I take it back. To add your own thread through the iOS app, follow these steps. 1. Go to the group page in the app
2. Click on the folder that says "2014 Personal Challenges"
3. Click the little plus symbol in the upper right hand corner
4. Add your topic title and first post

[bookcover:Moh..."Wow, you've already picked the books you plan on reading; awesome!
I'll try it Kara! Let you know! The updates every week it seems with iTunes is tough! I've already complained. If you take my old fashion iBooks shelves away and look like everyone else like kindle and nook on iPad, where's the sell? Pixels ? Please! We are young if your in apple buying an ipad to be thinking about clarity with eyes. The cover is what I'm sitting on the side of the road for. Everyone feels bad and the Otto box nearly ruined my refresh button from dust and other gallimaufry, and I'm not a pig with my device either. But, with directions on folders for new year, state per unit. Tablet or PC. Makes a world if difference. So much hate mail. Geesh !
I have copy tpl not iOS. Maybe different update. Will investigate tomorrow.
I am keeping my goal at 25 books for 2014- I completed that this year and want to make sure I have time to read a couple of longer books.
My goal for 2013 was originally 150 books but when I got there, I changed it to 200. I reached that this morning and I've had a bit of an odd year with exams, projects and a change of job to shift work (which I'm settling in to). So my reading's been all over the place. Next year should be much more simple (providing I get a permanent job) so I'm setting my goal to 214 books for 2014, maybe increasing it if I do well :)Good luck everyone.

How do you list your books like that?
My goal for 2013 was 75 books, which I made with one week to go! I think I will push myself harder in 2014 and set my goal at 100 books!
My goal in 2013 was 150 books but I am currently on 182 right now. So the goal for 2014 is 170 books.
my goal was 75, but i did not make that (only 50), so for next year I will leave my iPad alone more and try to read 70 books.
My goal for 2013 was 100 and currently I am at 107 books, but next year I plan on reading some chunksters so my goal for 2014 is 75 books =]
Not sure what goal to go for, I beat my challengevof 100 by 5 books. This year I'm not going to have as much time for reading, and I want to tackle so more of the classics
I make a goal of one book a week for the year. So basically, 52 books in 52 weeks. I like how it sounds. I work full time and have two very active kids so this goal works for me and if I get to read a few extra, great!Waiting for the new 2014 widgets to show up so I can add them to my blog.
Happy reading!

With only a few days left in 2013, it doesn't look like I am going to reach 200 reads this year:( I am six books shy of my 2013 goal. So, my goal for 2014 will be 200 again. ~Erika
