2014 Personal Challenge
My goal is 40 this year. I almost reached that goal last year, but I was finishing up graduate school. We'll see how it goes this year when I am just substitute teaching and looking for full time work.
Jodi wrote: "Ian, I read A Handmaid's Tale this year. I loved it. I for sure will read more Margaret Atwood books this year."Hey Jodi, Only just saw your reply. Glad you enjoyed it. I did like it, I think I gave it 4 stars. I just have so many books on my to read shelf, i'm trying not to think about other books i'd like to add....I actually had a bit of a sort out and removed some books yesterday :)
my goal for 2014 is to read 35 books, which is approximately double than the amount that I read last yeat
My goal is 50 books. I'm hoping to make it to 100, actually, but I'm going to start with a goal of 50 and see where it goes from there. I have some books I'm planning to start with that I got over the holidays:
This is my first challenge. I will be happy with a book a month making sure that I include some weightier tomes (eg The Luminaries) and at least three Penguin classics.
I hope to read at least 50 books this year.I just retired and have lots of hobbies but i love reading all kinds of books .I love fiction and especially historical .
I'm new to this group, and for the past couple of years I haven't really given myself a proper reading challenge. Last time I did it was 52 books in 52 weeks; I managed it, but found myself only choosing very short books by the last quarter of the year. In 2013 I read in fits and starts and probably managed only around 20 books, although one was The Luminaries, which took me a while!
Anyway, my target I am setting myself for 2014 is 35 books. If I manage 40 I'll be even happier. OK, I'm switching off and going to finish my first book now.
Sonya wrote: "sharleen good luck"Thanks! I'm starting with And The Mountain Echoed and moving on to My Beloved World. I'm making up my list now. :)
Sharleen wrote: "Hello everyone! This is my first book challenge, so I'm going to aim for 30 this year."Good luck Sharleen. Do you always pick your books in advance? I try, but then when it comes to it, there are some books that just feel like the right 'next book' and my list goes out the window! So, I'll try a combination of a few new surprises, and some already on my bookshelves, or kindle.
My goal will be 20 books this year. I haven't participated in the past and I read about 10 books last year so I want to double that. I am also going to contribute a new book to the library at work for every one I read so that my clients will have a better selection. So good luck everyone and READ ON!!!!Stacie
I have only really started reading books halfway last year and I'm 14, because I focused on my grades. But this year I will focus on both. I only read 10 books in half a year. But I have a goal to read 30 books by the end of 2014. I wish everyone good luck <3
After a few years of major life changes I have been trying to get my reading back to pre-2008 levels. The best year I've done since 2003 when I started logging it, (although I'm sure I read tonnes more when I was younger) is 70 books in 2005 and last year was my recent best of 55 books. Therefore I'm challenging myself to read 60 books this year AND ALSO to read more than I acquire and clear out any I absolutely do not need to keep. This is a problem for me, as I'm sure it is for all true bookworms. Last year I acquired 109...and that was me being careful...eep!Good luck everyone!
I don't have a goal, except to finish a book I started in 2011 The Years of Rice and Salt, but this is really fun!

I'm trying to read 300 books.
Just joined the group. My goal is 20 books. I've only started reading regularly last year, so 20 is a big number for me!

Hi Darlene, I have about 10 books picked that I've been meaning to read. I then left 12 slots open for the monthly book club I belong to. Those are TBD. I then left 8 books TBD of my own. :)
Since this is my first organized Challenge, and really my first time setting an goal like this, I'll see how closely I stick to my pre-picked list.
I am new to blogging! Yes that's right, a newbie! I am a member of a book club that try's to meet once a month so that is at least 12 books for the club. My personal books I am hoping to add another 20 so my goal is 32.

Hi! I almost made it! I had 24 books but I was 3 books short. Way better than what I had in 2012. Targeting 24 books for 2014. :D
Nichelle wrote: "Hello! I was wondering if we should make a `corner` thread and a `personal challenge` thread. Thanks"It is whatever you like Nichelle. I have both. I use my personal challenge thread to list my books and do reviews. I use my corner to keep track of challenges.
HiLast year I failed, so this year played a little safer.
I am going for 50 books this year, and at present I am my third book.
Read two Simon Kernick's books and on a third now.
regards
Sean
My 2014 goal is to read 30 books. I am also going to add another element to my goal: They will count if I already own them and never read or are borrowed from a library.
gautami wrote: "How do I add books? I am kinda lost here. I have read 11/150 books."Hi Gautami,
Do you have your own personal challenge thread or corner set up yet? If not, that would be your first step. After you set up a thread, start to add the books you have read. To do that above the message box is a link that you can click on that says add book/author. Click on that and then search for your book. Keep track of all the books you read and challenges you join.

This is my first year making an actual goal for reading as I have so many books I want to read that I have not yet read in my collection. So I am starting off a little easy and giving myself a goal of 20 books.
Lets hope I do it because I love reading so should be easy :)
