Hello! The challenge only requires you to read one book from your recommendations.

Anyway, here are some alternate choices for those categories:

BEACH:

Wait for You (Wait for You, #1) by J. Lynn

DUDE RANCH:
Sea Swept (Chesapeake Bay Saga, #1) by Nora Roberts

Happy reading!

Thanks Christina, you can pick for Becca and I will add her to the participant list :)

message 270: by Christina (new)

Christina (christinaovallsbooks) | 384 comments For Becca:

1. Amusement Park/Disneyworld
It Had to Be You by Susan Elizabeth Phillips. This is funny, especially the begining.
Something About You by Julie James. This one is new to you and I laughed all the way through this one as well.
Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake by Sarah MacLean. This is a historical romance. I laughed pretty much the entire way through this story. It was great. I also may have cried once or twice.

2. Safari
Club Dead by Charlaine Harris. This one and the next one are my two favorite books in the series.
Kitty and the Midnight Hour by Carrie Vaughn. I have not read this series, but it looks good and I have been keeping an eye on it. Others people I know seem to have rated it highly.
Magic Bites by Ilona Andrews. This is a great series. It is more of an urban fantasy book than a romance book, but it is very good. The first book was probably the hardest for me to read, but the audiobook for this was excellent.

3. Gambling/Vegas
Halfway to the Grave by Jeaniene Frost. This is one of my favorite series and you have to start it. There is definitely some taking chances on the other person in this book. Trust me, you will love it (if you like vampires and tension in a story and a little humor).

4. Staycation
Slammed by Colleen Hoover. This book is centered around family. Beware that I cried through most of this book. It was great though.
Cade by Liliana Hart. I know that this is in the middle of the series, but they are only a series in that you may see some of the same characters in the future. They don't build off one another. There was a very strong family tie in this book and it was very steamy as well. If you are interested, I can see if it is lendable from Kindle. This is the only book in the series that I have read so far, but I'm looking forward to more.

5. Beach/Tropical Island
Firelight by Kristen Callihan. This was a good book and the author is new to you. I think the flames count as hot.
Laid Bare by Lauren Dane from your TBR.

6. Dude Ranch
Jenna's Cowboy This was a great tear-jerker. I won't tell you too muchabout the story, but the people in it were so vivid that I felt like I was part of the story. The romance was very sweet.
Corralled by Lorelei James. This is an M-F-M book. Not sure if you were interested, but I liked it. She also has other series that are good. Long Hard Ride would be another series that she has. I have not read this one, but other people have liked it.

7. NYC for the Ball Drop
Marked by Elisabeth Naughton. This is a new to you author and first in a series.
All I Want For Christmas by Nora Roberts.

8. Honeymoon
Pleasure Unbound by Larissa Ione . I loved this series and hope you like it as well.
First Grave on the Right by Darynda Jones. This is also a first in series book that I loved.

It Had to Be You (Chicago Stars, #1) by Susan Elizabeth Phillips , Something About You (FBI / US Attorney, #1) by Julie James , Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake (Love By Numbers, #1) by Sarah MacLean , Club Dead (Sookie Stackhouse, #3) by Charlaine Harris , Kitty and the Midnight Hour (Kitty Norville, #1) by Carrie Vaughn , Magic Bites (Kate Daniels, #1) by Ilona Andrews , Halfway to the Grave (Night Huntress, #1) by Jeaniene Frost , Slammed (Slammed, #1) by Colleen Hoover , Cade (The MacKenzie Brothers #6) by Liliana Hart , Firelight (Darkest London, #1) by Kristen Callihan , Laid Bare (Brown Siblings, #1) by Lauren Dane , Jenna's Cowboy (The Callahans of Texas, #1) by Sharon Gillenwater , Corralled (Blacktop Cowboys, #1) by Lorelei James , Long Hard Ride (Rough Riders, #1) by Lorelei James , Marked (Eternal Guardians, #1) by Elisabeth Naughton , All I Want For Christmas by Nora Roberts , Pleasure Unbound (Demonica, #1) by Larissa Ione , First Grave on the Right (Charley Davidson #1) by Darynda Jones

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 1934 comments Hi Ty! Hard to believe I've finished two books already. I read Archangel's Legion (Guild Hunter, #6) by Nalini Singh and I absolutely loved it! I'm still thinking about it. I think Nalini Singh is the best paranormal writer out there.

Also finished Losing It (Losing It, #1) by Cora Carmack It was cute and sweet. But I felt like her mother - in fact her mother tells her something that I tell my 20 something kids all the time. But it was a fun read. Thanks for the pick!!
I'll be reading more of your picks and will let you know what I think.

message 278: by ⚜️XAR (new)

⚜️XAR the Bookwyrm (xar-the-bookwyrm) Just finished Christmas at Pebble Creek. Was a very short story, almost like it could have been an added series of scenes in one of the full length novels in the series, but it was quite good. I liked how the author skirted the three full length books in the series, not really going into much detail about them. If I hadn't done my research into this series, I could have seen this as a standalone introduction to the series. Well worth the read!

Hi Nichole, so far I have read Sock it to Me, Santa! by Madison Parker , Blue Moon (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, #8) by Laurell K. Hamilton (ok, I read Anita a day or two early and gave it a 4.5 star) and Just Like Heaven (Smythe-Smith Quartet #1) by Julia Quinn .
Julia Quinn was brilliant in that book that I am going to read book 2. I found a new gem of a series!

Thank you for your recs and I will try to read Archangel's Storm (Guild Hunter, #5) by Nalini Singh next

I'm so glad you have enjoyed them! I really liked
[bookcover:Blue Moon|30246]. That is one of my favorite series, at least the beginning. I now have a love-hate relationship with it lol.

I also just listened to Just Like Heaven (Smythe-Smith Quartet #1) by Julia Quinn a couple of weeks ago and really enjoyed it. I was hooked right at the beginning when the boys were trying to get away from her and go fishing and she uttered a pitiful "Marcus" and he went back for her. It was a really sweet story. I hope you enjoy the rest!

Nichole | 1010 comments Hi Ashley!

I finished my first pick The Raven Prince (Princes Trilogy, #1) by Elizabeth Hoyt and have added the rest of the series to Mt. TBR. I'm not sure which one I'll get to next but I have both Julie Garwood books on audio now!!

Can Law Man (Dream Man, #3) by Kristen Ashley be read out of order or should I start with the first in the series? I'm okay with reading books out of order as long as it doesn't mess the story up.

Thanks again!

⚜️XAR the Bookwyrm (xar-the-bookwyrm) I finished a second pick this morning...The Naughty List. Picked it up because I am bored with Scandal Wears Satin and utterly disgusted with Claimed (Brides of the Kindred, #1) by Evangeline Anderson and I needed a book to help me slog on in the above named duds. The Naughty List was such an awesome Christmas read, and steamy to boot! What I really enjoyed the most from it was that, unlike so many erotic novels, this book actually had a plot that was more than a device to get the characters to the next sex scene. Read it in just a couple of hours, but would happily read it again!

A Conspiracy of Alchemists (The Chronicle of Light and Shadow, #1) by Liesel Schwarz
I ended up totally loving this one. Not quite a 5 star book because of some clunky, repetitive phrasing (where was the editor?), but still a great read and I can't wait to read on in the series. Lots of romantic tension too!
