So many more I would like to add. Have enjoyed so many books this year it was hard to choose. The Help had me thinking about it for days after I finished so I would say it was the best but American Gods has me wanting to read more Gaiman Neil.

Ernest | 25 comments Just 5? After much deliberating, with the order and selection liable to change tomorrow, and with apologies to those books very close to making it into the top 5:

1. Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card
2. Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll
3. Moneyball : The Art of Winning an Unfair Game by Michael Lewis
4. Cold Days by Jim Butcher
5. Administrative Law: Context and Critique by Michael Head

Of course, there are still 11 days left until the end of the year, and thus still time for other books to break into the top 5! :-)

message 93: by B the BookAddict (new)

The Street Sweeper being my Ultimate Book Ever<:-)

message 94: by Amber (new)

Amber (ukaunz) I guess I'm lucky to be able to say it was very hard to narrow it down to just 5 books!

For me, the Top 5 of 2013 are

1. The Golem and the Djinni by Helene Wecker
2. Bitter Greens by Kate Forsyth
3. The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion
4. The Shadow Year by Hannah Richell
5. Me Before You by Jojo Moyes

With honourable mentions going to The Happiest Refugee and Matilda. I could also just as easily have voted for many of the titles other Goodreaders have listed!

The Golem and the Djinni by Helene Wecker Bitter Greens by Kate Forsyth The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion The Shadow Year by Hannah Richell Me Before You by Jojo Moyes
